Asking people you are not in a relationship with to do that is pressuring them. It's inherently fucked up. The fact that some said no does not change that. That could be a function of the physical space they were in, their existing relationship to him, thinking it was a joke, doesn't mean it was kosher.

Pressuring women to masturbate in front of them is actually bad. No one would say yes to that out of anything other than discomfort or fear. I don't think any of them shared that fetish.

That's exactly why it's so cringe. I'm a black man myself and it's sad to see people think like this. Some men think they must be in a position of economic, social, and interpersonal superiority over their partner before they can feel comfortable in the relationship, like they're entitled to dominion or something. They can't be happy that black women are finally getting to rise up to the position they would have had without oppression. I'm going on a date with someone who went to a better school than me and has a more prestigious job on Tuesday. I think nothing of it.

There's a lot of women out there dating men with nothing to offer in comparison from the outside anyway, so hypergamy is not a rule.

It's really cringe and insisting on that type of dynamic is a gigantic red flag. A relationship should be an equal partnership. When you submit yourself to someone else, you're at the mercy of their flaws, both when you're submitting and when you try to stop.

That's exactly why we as a culture moved away from that type of relationship as soon as women had access to jobs, credit, birth control, etc. It's almost always toxic and it's usually based on either false religious ideas or pseudoscience.

Anyone who supports, defends, contributes to, or encourages this....I don't respect you as a human being and I consider you and enemy of children.

This is what the right wants everywhere in America. A Christian white nationalist view that is the only view and that goes all the way back to the founding. And questioning it will be equated to being communist and anti-American.

It's very hard to be disbarred anywhere. Famously, microwaving a cat isn't even enough.

Lawyers are the ones who police whether other lawyers are disbarred and they have an obvious interest in it not being easy.

Take pictures with good lighting and backgrounds that involve you doing something interesting and looking happy. Wear your best casual wear in these. No selfies, no bathroom shots, no boomer Facebook profile shots, no Webcam pictures, no pictures of you from high school or college, just the 5 or 6 most interesting, high quality photos you have. No family pics or women of ambiguous relationship to you, no hover handing. If you have a cute dog or cat, include it for sure.

Check out what most of the gender your competing with's profiles and copy the good stuff and avoid the bad stuff to stand out.

Try to use apps where you can message first so you can stand out beyond looks.

Have a relatively short statement of your interests and something for the other person to grab onto when starting a convo.

Send tailored messages related to something in their profile, shared interests, something specific to them, unless you have a really good and non cringey standard line.

Do not jump in immediately talking about sex in your first few messages.

Do these things and congratulations, you're in the top percentage of male profiles. I'm not saying you'll get an avalanche of matches, but it should be enough to go from nothing to something.

You have no idea some of the things he's suggested in his dissents and concurrences. Were all of them made law, this country would be a fascist hellhole, and now he has that power to impose his spite based worldview on country with impunity.

His worldview is basically that the government (especially the federal government) has heavy limits on the good things it can do for you and damn near no limits on the bad things state and local governments can do to you.

Protests don't translate into votes. People will giddily flood the streets and screech to the heavens about their rights and injustice but when it comes to the polls those very same people stay home.

I don't think it's the people who are out the streets who stay home. It's the cynical people who think that a protest won't do anything, that voting doesn't do anything, combined with people who think nothing affects them, and the people who don't pay attention at all.

The Clean Air Act doesn't just regulate pollution, it explicitly regulates emissions, including CO2. It mandates that the EPA do so. That's what this very same court ruled during the Bush administration.

Congress always had the unchecked power to stop them if they thought they were doing something without authority. I've never heard anyone except movement conservative lawyers argue that the EPA lacked this authority, not even conservative Congress members and talk radio people. The Clean Air Act gives the EPA the ability to regulate emissions. If the Court was not pursuing its pet political projects, it would find ample authority for the EPA's interpretation here. But now we have a completely unrestrained court.

I'm actually a lawyer and constitutional law is one of my specialties, along with civil rights law generally. Constitutional law has always been the most political and ideological of all the various types of law because its been known since almost the beginning that your principles and methods of analysis determine the outcomes.

For example, when you choose originalism and textualism as your method, there is no way to reach the conclusion that the 14th amendment protects LGBT people. Because as a historical fact, the method inherently bakes in any prejudice that existed at the time the Constitution was written. The fact that these two methods have become so dominant, to the point where they're almost the only two seen as legitimate is why you see decisions like we've seen over the past few days.

Another huge feature of using originalism as a method is that it allows you to practice bad, ideologically driven amateur history. You can find dictionaries or contemporary authors that agree with your modern view and say "that's what x term meant at the time"

How hard is it to interpret the constitution? As far as legal study goes the constitution is pretty slim compared to the vast amount of law on the books. If anything it seems like the easiest and bare bones way to practice law.

Very hard because it's all made up and so the justifications are volumes and volumes and hard to follow.

That won't put it back as the constitutional right it was this morning and would still leave people in Texas, Alabama, Florida, Missouri, Mississippi, Louisiana etc to rot. You're talking about heroic efforts just to still be in a worse position at this point. That seems to be all elected Dems can offer across the board.

This is not a call not to vote or not to vote blue. I will continue to do so to slow the collapse, but it sure looks like its coming fast now.

Roe is gone, it's not on the ballot. And no realistic number of Dems being elected is going to bring it back.

They were there during the George Floyd protests too, along with armored vehicles and people in military gear blocks away from the protest site.

Nothing of the sort was there for January 6th. It's fairly obvious what the difference is.

What if you think police having so much of our funds and being the only way we deal with societal dysfunction (through state violence and force) is....bad. How would "changing" to giving them even more money fix that?

The thing is, the court already ruled back in 2006 that boycotts alone aren't speech under the law because on their own, they're just economic activity, and the speech part is explaining the economic activity, not the refusal to buy. Already a trash decision and you can expect the Supreme Court to follow it.

Boycotts are speech point blank period and it takes tortured lawyer logic to conclude otherwise. This is why people hate lawyers.

Judicial review was a mistake. Elite law schools were a mistake. Lifetime appointments were a mistake. These people just sit there twisting their brains into knots, thinking of ways to take away and prevent the establishment of new rights.

The one example Id default to is that one Netflix documentary on gaming history, which would ostensibly talk about how notable milestones, but instead spends 10 minutes on a random Space Invaders champion who happens to be trans in the present, 20 minutes on some gay vaporware game in the D&D/RPG episode, and a half hour on a supposedly overlooked black employee in the Sega/Madden episode.

Im sure those couldve been interesting stories in a documentary about LGBT people in gaming. But not as a prelude to claiming these were the real history makers in gaming and ignoring Atari/Sega/Nintendo/etc. actual contributions.

Thats just one thing that Netflix is particularly guilty of. For the record, I love it when The Boys has Vought make blatant callouts to appeal to this crowd, despite clearly not giving a damn about them.
