Good timing, I randomly decided to try this game on friday night after happening to see it on a twitch stream (had previously dismissed it 'cause graphics looked cheap) and ended up addicted and spent the entire weekend playing it. Now have only 4 achievements left to be fully caught up.

i was split between froslass and clawitzer but voted the latter

which is impressive considering i almost exclusively only like "cute" pokemon. but clawitzer just looks really fucking cool. though it has "random enemy from an MMX game" vibes to me. absolutely the miniboss from Razor Clawshrimp's level, y'know?

I voted Minions but it may be recency bias from Rogue Legacy 2 Tubal sucks. And that boss makes the minions untargetable for 10 seconds after they spawn so you just have to spend 10 seconds dodging them

In general though I'm very good at dodging a single enemy with clear attack patterns, and very bad at dodging lots of small enemies/projectiles moving around at random.

It's more that when Espeon tied back up at the end Umbreon immediately got another vote, twice. If there's debate over this I can call it tied, it just looks to me like things do when someone's pushing a last min comeback.

i can see the case for it, but it's also not super hard to imagine that one of the frontrunners would get 5 votes in that timespan either so idk. doesn't seem clearcut either way. i don't actually care about the decision i was just curious.

This is my first time seeing Urshifu, but I think I like it. The rabbit is cool too though I don't know why it has a giant thing on its head. I could go either way.

yeah, when i found my first one, not only was my mind blown, but i was impressed at the game design aspect of it - trusting players to have that experience and figure it out even though it's completely hidden and the game never tells you to.

thinking about it now, i guess maybe that's... not the case? he really did just intend people to do the river one really early and just take it as the introduction of a new mechanic, not a previously-hidden shocking twist.

i'm curious now if he's talked about it but i can't find any interviews about it easily on google.

I'm the type who always tries random things in games "just in case", and my clicking on anything and everything that looked interesting finally paid off.

I don't think so! I got all the lasers, went into the mountain and eventually found an elevator that took me back to the beginning of the game. I haven't found that bottle either, looks like I'm heading back for more! I won't bother trying all the environmental puzzles though, it sounds like it would annoy me.

How many total puzzles are there, btw? I was on 400something and +6 when I 'beat' it.

i don't actually remember the exact sequence of events down there but i think you'd know if you did the thing i'm asking about. i think maybe you can find an alternate path down there somewhere that leads to it.

i googled it and there's apparently 523 panel puzzles.

hm, did you get the true ending by finishing all the areas and going to the underground area and doing the bonus challenge? just checking since i can't tell for sure from your post.

i thought it was a top tier gaming experience, and agree that finding the first environmental puzzle was one of the greatest moments in gaming. not sure a game has ever had such a mindblowing moment.

i didn't go for them all though, just had a friend give me a tour of them all basically.

It's pretty unfortunate that he didn't do more. Probably my second-favourite doctor behind 12. (I've seen reboot only) But I like all of season 1, even the first half.

1-season companions are also pretty sad. I liked Bill but it still felt sort of like "Uhhhh well 12 has one season left and we need a companion since Clara left so let's get someone in there???"

Of course, you can do a lot in 1 season. Donna proved that. And she had to share her finale with everyone else as part of a greatest hits compilation instead of getting one to herself like the other companions do. Also too bad.

I thought season 9 was absolute peak Moffat-style just throwing a million ideas into an episode without actually giving any of them time to develop, and with the dialogue only existing to move the plot forward and show how clever Moffat's ideas are rather than actually sounding like real people you can relate to.

A bit surprised you like it but it was well-received overall and people do seem to like that style so I guess I'm not too surprised.

man that's crazy that such a pivotal thing didn't make the air. you can sort of get why though from the editor's PoV - they were able to tell a story just fine without it and it still makes perfect sense - but damn! plus i guess if they show all that, it makes the result even more obvious.

the weird thing about 13's run is i actually think the holiday specials have been the best eps? this past one was fun (though full of horrible plot holes), the first dalek christmas special i recall being maybe my favourite ep of her run, and then... last year's was okay too.

the only other episode from her run that i recall enjoying was the tesla episode. i thought it was fun and it reminded me of fun "filler" episodes from the earlier era of the reboot.

Kerblam! literally does a "maybe Amazon isn't that bad, y'know?".

I recall this episode being very ambiguous in its messaging. And not in a good "we're just presenting the topic and letting the viewer decide how they feel" way, more of a "we don't know what we're trying to say and are giving conflicting messages" way

But I don't remember exactly how now. Isn't it that not-Amazon was portrayed as pretty bad the whole time...? But then I guess it was revealed some bad alien thing was behind it and Amazon wasn't that bad? I guess I just don't remember.

i googled this and the only quote sourced is moffat saying that "they" wanted to bring her back. not "I" wanted to bring her back. it seems more likely they wanted her for season 4.

Drea's exit was really fun but I do hope it doesn't become a trend to talk so much about the other players after being voted out. I feel that happens on Big Brother a lot more? But I've barely watched it so I could be remembering wrong.

Sort of like the whole "Live Tribal" thing - it was fun when they got up and whispered once but I don't wanna see it every time and don't think it should really be allowed by the rules tbh

I think they probably don't, but the editors want to keep suspense, and "Can Jonathan win out" makes for a better storyline. My guess is they prompt people in confessionals to explain the pros and cons of various ideas, and they're just showing the "Well, getting rid of Jonathan would be good because..." clips and leaving out all the times people say "But actually, I really don't think he'll win a final 3, so whatever"

I could be wrong though, and despite people being frustrated with him more and them showing all his worse moments, I think they do still like him overall, so maybe they don't view him as a total goat.

i feel season 6 started off alright enough, "a good man goes to war" was really the start of the whole "oh, we're just going to throw a million 'cool' ideas into an episode with absolutely no pacing and no taking time to develop any of them" which basically signaled where the show was heading for... the rest of moffat's run

i find moffat's run frustrating because he actually does really great when he keeps things relatively simple (5, 8) but then he just can't help but go off the rails.

yeah, even though i dislike, like, almost of seasons 9/11/12/13, the back half of 7 was the closest i came to quitting the show, just out of pure boredom. could barely pay attention during the episodes. honestly i couldn't even tell you the names or concepts of most of the episodes. clara's introduction was evil wifi. cold war russian sub episode? some victorian vampire episode maybe...? i remember the name "rings of akhaten" and that the doctor made a speech about a leaf but that's it. i don't even know what the finale was.

I'd rank Flux above the other Jodie seasons, because, well, like you said, it at least tries to do a thing, and has two decent episodes... whereas the other two I consider to be basically entirely forgettable. (And yeah I consider the whole doctor's past arc to be more offensive than whatever Flux did, which, well, honestly I don't remember much of Flux's actual plot - overly complex plot arcs just go in one ear out the other for me because I'm not interested enough in them for them to stick in my mind - which is why season 6 is also bad, and also the entirety of whatever they did at the end of 11's run, and also the entirety of season 9)

I like season 2 though. Rose being flawed makes her more interesting than most companions nowadays. Clara sucked when she had no flaws but got better when they actually gave her some negative traits.

Separate post to ask, but how do I unlock aetherial reduction? Do I have to be a specialist in the class I'm desynthing for? I was hoping to grind aethersand from a fishing trip but I don't have the option to do so anywhere, and wondering if it's because while my culinarian desynth is maxed out, my actual CUL level is only 35.
