Here where I am they kinda encourage double features since people always go to the concession stands after each movie which is where the money is made. They give a discount on popcorn and every other drink refill is free, the only annoying thing is that you HAVE to show your receipt of original purchase that day.

Only time they get annoyed is if you try and duck in during a premier event since press is there and reserved seats is not a suggestion. Seen people get kicked out when they tried that during the premier of Spider-Man No Way Home even when they posted the signs to NOT do so for that movie.

I've been to several movie theaters in several places, I've never had to present a movie ticket to buy snacks like popcorn and whatnot, that seems counter intuitive for them

It's funny, I used to think they had some excuse for why persona is always teens like how nge needs kids to fit in the eva cockpits, but with zenkichi unlocking his own persona that means they literally don't need to set the games in high school, it could be any time in a person's life

But yeah the new characters they added were likable too. Zenkichi was surprisingly likable after seeming like a possible deceptive antagonist, and this was us hot off the (obvious) betrayals of the other cop type adachi akechi too. And Sophia was a nice little newcomer

This game might have sealed it for which is my favorite. I didn't get much of a friendship vibe from the characters back in p5, but strikers really helps to sell it

I think Pattinson's Batman was pretty good. It was just playing a different persona of Batman than the other movies and maybe different than the persona some people's first idea of Batman is. You can represent Batman from so many different angles and center a story around an angle - he's all of a super detective and maybe computer hacker, or super martial artist, or billionaire who makes tanks and mecha armor who fights aliens, or maybe he's almost a super scientist himself, or you can make a story emphasizing his fatherly relationship with his robins and batgirls, or emphasize his tragic backstory and the corresponding mental disorders they've given him (especially juxtaposed with his often similarly mentally ill villains).

Bale's Batman was more billionaire martial artist Batman. Less detective, and when he's alone or chatting with Alfred he even seemed kind of upbeat all things considered. I don't think we really saw a lot of development out of Affleck's Batman since he was sharing movies but to me it was mostly the billionaire scientist alien-fighting Batman. Pattinson's was all-in on detective, mentally tortured Batman. More grounded than Bale's and certainly Affleck's. It didn't even really play up the martial artist side - random mooks were getting hits on him. Probably not going to see him fighting parademons with bat-laser-guns like in Justice League.

There was a small scene of detective batman in the dark knight, but in general we haven't really seen that much of detective batman save for btas

Yeah Arkham Knight is pretty damn disappointing, I didn't like any of the story besides that excellent scarecrow voice actor. Batmobile hate is underblown.

What's weird is there was all this hate for Arkham Origins but when I eventually played it, I was like "this... this is actually pretty great, very fun game what's with the hate?"

Meanwhile, Arkham Knight was the Rocksteady developed one, so it had all this hype after Arkham city, and yet it failed to deliver. Came up so short. Especially the plot lines that carried over from Arkham City, they built up Azrael as actually being something, not just same lame ass sidequest. Same for Hush puppy. At least they had manbat, that was a prediction I got right after lamenting the missed opportunity of having him in City.

Guiness wasn't really limited or select by any means, he acted a lot throughout his whole career. I was specifically referring to the limits on his international prestige, by sticking mainly to British roles. Lewis is an English actor with fewer roles, but the bulk of his most well known film roles have been for US productions and thus more visibility. Taking fewer roles might actually HELP him in that regard.

Ah ok yeah. I mean his movies are on a ton of "greatest of all time" lists so that says something about his quality

The only reason Alec Guiness isn't considered the greatest film actor of the 20th century is because he was English and preferred to keep it that way, limiting his participation in the international film stardom of the 50s, 60s and 70s, and even then he was the star of Bridge on the River Kwai, and played significant roles in this film, Dr. Zhivago, and of course the biggest box office success in movie history, Star Wars. The man was a legend.

Is that an English thing? Daniel Day Lewis is also considered a great actor and his whole thing is having limited and very selective movie roles as well. Hell I think he retired after Lincoln (I don't blame him, talk about going out on top after breaking the record for most male oscar wins)

Funny you mention Crash 4, I've been playing the N Sane Trilogy for like a week now. Got all the crystals and gems in all 3 games, just trying to get the relics now.

Recently with all the episode removals of some series on streaming services and series/artists changing platforms or just removing themselves from digital media, yeah there's definitely something to be said about owning physical copies. Who's to say down the line Activision says "Fuck Steam" and removes all their games including Crash leaving people like me SOL with our digital copies that don't work anymore?

Or like what they already did with all the spiderman games, which I kind of wanted to play since I was in a spidermanning mood and didn't want to play the insomniac spidey yet.

It's funny but I only started reading manuals after they stopped making them. I mean I always read the bios of characters as a kid but now I like to read the whole thing, from a to z.

It's been 3 gens since they stopped making manuals, that's kind of insane when you think about it. Honestly there are lots of criticisms of digital and I'm wary of it too, but quite frankly it's just a lot more hassle free now to have all the games on the console to play at once without constantly switching discs and cartridges and finding the game boxes and whatnot. That little bit of convenience made me officially switch to digital, even though I know I'm at the mercy of the game companies and paying literally more for less.

It has its problems, but it's a really good movie overall.

It is kind of amusing to me that Alec Guinness would have rather been remembered for Lawrence of Arabia than Star Wars when white people playing members of other ethnic groups has become extremely taboo. He's better off being remembered as the space mentor and not the white guy in make up playing an Arab prince.

Well, I mean I doubt his performance was anything like the actual person, so him not even being Arab and clearly a white British guy was just one of those things since it was 1960s, an era when fricking laurence olivier played othello. Hell the fact that one of the main characters played by Omar Sharif actually was Arab was a surprise, and he was basically a composite of several historical figures.

But it's funny you mention that. I remember when Ben Kingsly played Gandhi I was like "wait why is a british guy playing Gandhi" but Ben Kingsly does actually have Indian roots so that's a case where it actually worked out.

I'd seen bits of this movie on TV, never sat down and watched it from beginning to end. It's constantly on multiple "top 10 movies of all time" type lists, but despite that it was still really good.

One thing I'm surprised by is how self-aware the movie is of the perception of Arabs, especially the perception by white British of "those Arabs" in the 1900s. And this movie was way back in 1962. Not much has changed for a lot of people's perception...

Another thing I was even more surprised at is the portrayal of Lawrence himself by Peter Otoole. Outstanding performance for what was his first movie role. And... he played him as downright effeminate, especially for 1960s, in mannerisms, speech, and there's even implied sexual abuse when he's captured by the Turks. It was not something I was expecting from a possibly conservative/repressed era of cinema.

Alec Guinness as Prince Faisal was great, I was not expecting such a likable and charming character. Omar Sharif was good too.

Watching it now as an Arab is funny because the movie is all about the Arabs finally uniting after warring with each other, and wanting to get out from under the Ottomans' thumb but nowadays the Arabs absolutely love Turkey and consume their culture entirely and it's a popular travel destination, among other things.

It depends on how theyre set up. Some theaters these days reserve seats. In the past Ive also seen theaters take tickets right before the actual theater door, or on both sides/all of the wings of a theater. Not to mention forced exits one direction. And interior night vision cameras and usher checks, the former of which a lot of people dont know about (I think theyre more meant to catch ppl getting it on, harassing others, smoking, drinking, and sneaking food in, though). So while it is definitely plausible and possible, its a little harder to navigate these days. It helps to know someone who works at the theater and/or leave the film before the credits roll, go to the bathroom, and blend in at the start of another show (or better yet, after the start of another show). Not that Im an expert

Yeah the theater in my hometown definitely does reserve seating, and has ushers, and basically most of what you said. There's ushers for directing you to your seat, and there's ushers that show up at the end of the movie that direct you to the one-way exit.

I think maybe the type of theater I mentioned in the op is exclusive to AMC theaters or certain theaters?

I worked at a theater for a while in high school and I can assure you, nobody cares if you do that. Sure, you should go buy another ticket to see another show. Or in your example, go exchange the ticket from the film you walked out of for a ticket to the film you ended up watching instead.

But theaters really don't make their money off ticket sales, they have a better margin on concessions. So if you're there for 5-6hrs watching a couple films, if you've bought a bag of popped corn and some soda, they've made more money off you than if you had bought that second ticket.

Huh. What if... you buy popcorn to consume for the movie you paid a ticket for, then you sneak into a second movie, but go to the concession stand again to buy more popcorn and candy. So basically you bought snacks from them twice, and a movie ticket once.

It got me to wondering, if I outright watched an entire movie, then watched a second movie right after, would I be stopped, would they even know? Feels like there's a gap in their business model.

Robert Pattison has creepy villain written all over him, yet they cast him as Batman, the Batman. The fuck. It would be like casting Cillian Murphy as Batman in Batman Begins instead of Scarecrow.

Don't even get me started on Ben "punchable face" Affleck, Gone Girl was one of his better roles simply for acknowledging this fact.

Lol Ichinose. Lol that entire reveal. They didn't think it was suspicious that she created Emma yet didn't know what Sophia was even though Sophia is clearly linked to Emma?

I absolutely loved this game, biggest surprise of the year, and definitely lucky that I got it before my ps plus subscription ran out (as I'm not planning on renewing it)

Even to the very end, my only major gripe has been the terrible nonadjustable sound mixing which makes the extremely loud background music completely drown out the dialogue of characters. Sometimes in a battle I would literally just run around the field dodging just so I could hear what the bosses are saying and what the characters are responding with while reading the upper right dialogue box.

But otherwise... just fantastic all around. So much better than the Royal new content story with that dumb Maruki, and it's hilarious that P5S had its own redhead new character, and Sophia is so much better and more endearing than that P5R redhead. It's like they saw the ambivalent, bordering-on-dislike reception to the P5R redhead (which admittedly, was probably considered a marked improvement to the outright hate that Mari got in Persona 4 Golden) and decided to take two.

Loved the ending, it was great. Honestly a trip around Japan was just what the series and these particular characters needed to really feel like a team/close knit group of friends, it really helped immensely.

I was not expecting an adventure that would take nearly 60 hours, and I barely felt it, was sad when I realized I was probably near the end of the game when I was already taking on Akira's dungeon. They were nice enough to add some postgame content which I'm about to do.

You can tell by the really oldschool looking graphics and it wasn't called klondike yet.

I want all those and even spider solitaire on windows 10, because the modern versions are so garbage they literally need to load first before starting (complete with annoying animations and flashes and crap) and I just want the simple, straight to the point versions of the games for when I'm procrastinating on the PC.

Killmonger posted...
To be fair, the guy who created the villain (Christopher Priest), reinvented BP and put him on the map.
So the writer went from Marvel to DC and then remade the same character?
