Yes? 5 days a week in fact, sometimes more.

An ARPG's fun level lies in how deep it's battle mechanics are and how dedicated the game's development team is willing to keep things fresh. This is why a game like PoE has lasted for so long, and also why I'm wanting to move away from it in general.

I play ARPGs because I can spend hundreds of hours making a build that ends up being something like this (This is my build I worked on for 4 months in late 2021 / early 2022):

Only need to activate a skill, once, can just mindlessly walk through the game. It's "fun" planning something out and doing long term progression. I have a binge/purge cycle with them because it's hard to frequently find a reason to play a game / genre you've played for thousands of hours. The feeling you get when you're mindlessly blasting shit is like nothing else I've felt when playing a game in the past 25 years I've been gaming.

Hopefully, but the long term effects will stick with me for a while after it "ends".

I don't play fighting games, but I always hope that they're successful for Capcom so that Capcom can create new Mega Man games.

And the DX Games are a steal because Gust's games never go on sale and you get them 25% off when buying all 3. I'm going to drop a lot of money on these games for my Birthday this year (or maybe before that). You can't even get physical versions of the original Arland PS3 releases for under $35 new.

I can see why you'd see that.
This game is much more structured and linear than Ayesha. So far (I'm probably like 10 hours into Escha and Logy) it looks like Ayesha has a better "story" and much more open ended gamplay, but Escha and Logy has much better tuned game systems. I haven't seen any real issue with either game's deadlines so far or issues managing resources (I generally don't like to grind anyways). I am under the impression that these are two of the 3 last games to have any kind of deadline system anyways. Maybe it's more of an issue for the Arland games (which I intend to play next).

WTF? Of course it is.

I could see the argument for 2 or 3 not being a JRPG, but the first one absolutely is. Just more action then turn-based.

Spent yesterday evening changing out my PS3's 120GB HDD for a 500GB HDD and redownloading the Dusk Trilogy to continue playing. Hopefully these games stay consistent. I have the intention of playing the Arland trilogy next (Possibly on Switch, but the proton support for these looks choppy). I could also spend $120 and get all 3 games physically on PS3 as I can't get them digitally like I could with the Dusk Trilogy.

I suggest Joe Rogan take some more drugs, and hopefully go to jail.

I'm going to try and make this not about work for once.

There's a vtuber I've followed for a number of years, and one of her isms when reading chat comments was to reply with "that's valid" or "you're valid". When starting to think about how important validation is, this really had a profound impact on me. Even saying something as simple as that (even if you don't agree with the person), it really makes the person like you as hell of a lot more than constantly ignoring them or denying their validation.

Also a huge motivator for entering relationships is the desire for validation. Finding someone who you can simply co-exist with is a very strong form of validation.

But I like your example of hobbies for this too. A number of years ago I was looking for my current wireless mechanical keyboard and those people were incredibly defensive when I was asking for advice. Now the keyboard isn't the best (actually I don't use it anymore) but it served its purpose and I will use it when I want to game, but don't want to be sitting upright to do so.

There really isn't any more to it than that.

Geopolitics are always interesting. Based on the GDP argument, it's always interesting as China is not a cultural exporter like the United States is, and in all honesty, it lacks the cultural exportation power of a country like Japan or the UK, despite their far lower GDP.

So I played 50 minutes (which was only a bunch of story exposition and 1 battle) and I wasn't hooked yet.
The combat depth and customization of FFT doesn't seem to be present, and there wasn't any kind of immediate plot hook in that play session. There's this seemingly big build up after the optional scene after the first battle, that may be alluding to a Game of Thrones-esque death scene, but I'm not sure if the game will move in that direction (I honestly doubt it).

Seems like it is trying to copy FFT, but doesn't really understand why FFT is so good.
Also a note on deaths, I had two of the units die in the first battle (because I didn't care to position them) and there's no punishment for death? Very weird.
