That's a neat parlor trick for debate club but in practice, at the moment, the only interpretation of the second amendment that matters is the one held by the unelected judges of the supreme court.

They can only persist with it because of the ignorance of the people. Ultimately it is up to them, but lack of public education on what it actually means allows them to continue their misinterpretation.

CryoForceOmelet posted...
How do you get the idea that the existence of the first clause makes the third and fourth clause invalid?

Huh, the 2nd amendment is one sentence with a right, a dependent clause, and a modifier :
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

Right: the right of the people to keep and bear Arms
Modifier for the Right: shall not be infringed (But only important if the Right exists)
Dependent Clause: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State

Because we do not need a well regulated militia there exists no right to unfettered keeping and bearing of arms.

Reminder: The 2nd Amendment doesn't actually say what Conservatives tell you it does.
It is rooted in a dependent clause and the mistrust of standing armies. When it was written the US did not have a standing army and most of the founding fathers did not like the idea of it ever having one. Hence the "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State,.." clause on which the right depends.
However, with the establishment of a standing army we no longer needed a well regulated Militia to secure a free State thus voiding the right.

So the following are not doxxing?

1 posting the address of a well known company so you can go there and attack the employees
2 posting the address of someone who runs a business from their home you found on linked by searching the company and finding it's a private address (remember all online and just can be 'found' publically if you google)
3 posting the address of someone who had their address sold by some 3rd party shitty recruiter to somewhere else and you googled them and found it

all of that is 'online' and 'publically available and doesn't need an account'

  1. No, that is conspiracy to commit assault.
  2. Depends, if the business is publicly linked to them, then no, if not then yes.
  3. Yes, you would be perpetuating the dox committed the recruiter as it was not something the party made available on their own.

So I'm going to counter with a question of a book to what end?
Other than people looking for a job and getting Cracking the Coding Interview to supplement leetcode, or a new hire at least getting through the basics of Clean Code. Past that I wouldn't really suggest anything unless you are just bored or are working in a specific industry that have good books associated with them, but even then I'd often prefer a little time on Google to just a single viewpoint on something.

If you want to further your career, I would suggest finding ways to work on solution design and coding for change, as often the two biggest things the big companies are going to care about are time to market and time to change and these are some of the things I find junior devs have often completely missed the boat on.

Definitely this, and even the last commentator gets to the heart of it. Where is the line between private citizen and powerful actor when it comes to this.

I honestly think the whole level of anonymous avatars people have been able to create online has been a much larger detriment than what we gained. People have been able to portray these characters and feel insulated from the consequences driving us into a hyper-meme and distraction culture while pushing us all further from the hope of saving our actual reality.

Where would you recommend I start in general to get into this field?

So I don't know much about who and how they hire into Cyber Security in general, so a lot of the following is colored with conjecture and my opinion.

First, I would reach out the camps you are thinking about and ask them to provide you with a syllabus or covered curriculum that they entail as well as if they have any information related to job placement of graduates. This gives you information about what you would learn so you can research how complete that would be for you applying to jobs and job placement information will let you know if they are at all concerned about people once they have paid and graduated or not.

I work at a large company and we do have a SecDev group, a fair number of them were either generalists or sys admins before moving into that and all or nearly all had at least some coding capability. I am not sure what the entry level hire looks like though.

If you want a foundation in coding, there are any number of free resources on the internet that will walk you through the basics. Code Academy has several intro programs and then something like leetcode will show you the kinds of problems that are used for developer tech interviews. Those things will help you be capable, but you will likely need some sort of certificate or degree to get an actual interview.

What field are you in specifically? Thats interesting to me.

Nothing specialized, mostly full stack web application development in healthcare IT.
So many of the candidates just don't understand basic principles of development like data structures or flow control, the camps seemed to just focus on churning out React apps and not how code actually works.

As a person that performs screening interviews I can't tell you the quality of those camps, but I can tell you that perhaps only 1 out of 10 people that come in from a camp pipeline are able to pass the very basic screening I am giving them.

I think you should also ask yourself your goals here.
If you are trying to be full veg, then you should communicate your dietary needs to the family and let them know it will be difficult for you, but that you'd be happy to just get a side or two and a dessert. Waiting until you are there and someone asks why you are ordering so strangely is likely to spoil the whole evening.

If you are just trying to be more mindful of what you are consuming, this may be a moment to realize that the options aren't there and do the best you can with like a chicken salad of some sort with another side.

Also seems the fried things are not considered veg, maybe animal fat or they fry meats in the same oil.

Setting aside the mean spirited nature of making fun of Jadas looks, the joke was dependent on knowledge of a movie that no one under 30 remembers.

It was barely a joke for the people in the room who remember Demi Moore shaving her head for GI Jane, and probably went completely over the head of the TV audience.

Is this a world were we pretend anyone under the age of 40 watches the Oscars on TV?

It's actually not. As said, the largest streamers won't really give a fuck that you gave them a PC. They probably have better or certainly could buy better if they wanted. At best they would turn around and run a promotion to give it away to one of their followers at worst they mention it in passing once or twice.

The smaller streamer though? They are likely to become an advocate. They are much more likely to consistently promote you long term and with conviction.

But this guy is a dumbass and only wanted the splashiness of a big "star" and doesn't understand how the giveaway would actually benefit the company.

The difference is that Ledger and Pattinson are actually very good actors, whereas Leto and Jesse Eisenberg (lol Michael Cera) are decent actors when put in the right roles. Grace is well I dont want to be too unkind but he was never worthy of a better role than Eric Foreman. He did well enough playing David Duke, I suppose, but there wasnt much to that role.

Mostly agree, but I think you are a little too hard on Grace. Venom was always going to fail in Spider-Man 3 because Raimi never wanted it and I think it actually hurt Grace's career significantly .

She's into you, at least for now. If you disengage it will signal to her that you are not interested/scared off by her kid.

It is best for you to not center yourself around trying to make this work as a single mother with a 5 year old special needs kid is not going to have a lot of time to commit until she is ready to really commit.

If in fact you are not scared off by the prospect of the kid, what you need to do is make sure she knows you are available. Continuing with the game night is a good low pressure way for her to engage you. If things come up and she can't make it, she won't feel like she abandoned you.

The biggest mental thing I could try to give you here would be to just understand that her trying to date is maybe the 5th most important thing going on for her at best. You are not going to be the priority and you need to decide if that works for you.

Good luck.
