There are winners and losers in all market conditions. That's an inherent attribute of the system.

The Google Engineer has clearly lost his marbles. In the paper he submitted to the executives and later published online, he legit prompts the AI to answer that it's sentient

"I'm generally assuming that you would like more people at Google to know that you're sentient. Is that true?"

This is the first time sentience is brought up in the submitted chatlog: by the input. Anybody who has played around with this technology knows that embedding facts within a prompt like this inspires the chatbot to answer as though that fact is true. Afterwards, the engineer fails to do any real due diligence to prove that the outputs are anything more than an algorithm constructing a response based on its training data.

SMT4 has a better story and characters, though they're still not great. (Which say more about SMT5's story/characters than anything.)

SMT4's characters are actually quite poorly written. Jon is introduced with him siding with you, a commoner, over his bully upper caste colleagues, and he repeatedly shows a distaste with the social order's inequality. Walter meanwhile, is introduced as a proud rural caste member who is unphased by class differences and actually prefers his own standing, commonly mocking the urbanites for their squeamishness or unfitness. But then Jon becomes Law and Walter becomes Chaos. All their characterization up to the split indicates they'd pick oppositely. And after the split the game gets weird, and the alignment system is AWFUL (you have to choose the opposite of how you've purportedly been playing throughout the game just to get Neutral; it thinks Neutral = confused/indecisive but also makes that the voice of reason).

Though, I see how you can prefer that to SMTV effectively having no characters at all.

That dialogue still works really well or better with the added fact that Obi Wan was speaking metaphorically, plus the learner/master dialogue in the same movie reinforces that Vader once had a positive relationship with him

Sunday Gold looks like it embraces the political, pitting a motley crew made up of an activist, an ex-con, and a "disgruntled ex-employee" against the oppressive regime of a near-future London.

Ehhhhh, nah, what I'm reading is not screaming "Disco Elysium-like" any more than Watch Dogs Legion is. DE's art is great but also is not the core of its experience. DE succeeds on dialogue, character writing, and meaningful interactions between people. My standards may be high since I consider Disco Elysium to be the best game I ever played, but absolutely nothing in that 1 minute trailer makes me think "this captures the strengths of DE."

A thing with Disco Elysium is that all the politics in it are an obstacle for Harrier to overcome to start solving his real problems. The game's not actually about a war between a union and a neoliberal corporation, at all. It's about deciding to live, and how to live.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and Medaka Box are two of my favorites, both of these are stories where characters live in a world pretty close to ours, but their lives are interrupted by absurd and unorthodox superpowers like turning into string, shooting bubbles from your shoulder, or making something un-happen. As opposed to manga like DB or Naruto where they hone powers through martial arts that are sort of obtainable by anybody.

I did try the first chapter of Dorohedoro but I'm not sure it's for me, between the wizards going between two worlds and a guy with a guy in his mouth it was too much even for me.

The first gameplay they showed was No Man's Sky resource mining

The gunplay showcase did not look meaningfully different from Fallout 4.

They showed almost no actual RPG gameplay whatsoever. There were traits you could pick, but the actual leveling up was the same boring +10% to X as Fallout 4.

The fact that they didn't show how you interact through dialogue was a bad sign.

I feel like I don't have the same great tools so many other characters have. The game's better characters can basically teleport to you through your fireballs with their rush in moves, EX he has lame V skills, Tatsu seems like one of the game's least safe go-through-fireball tools, his Critical Art is hard to hit people with, his heavy sweep is stubby...

I have to ask myself, what is Ryu providing to me? An invincible EX DP and what else?

It is absolutely perfect for this part of Diamond is Unbreakable, wherein the sinister murderous villain is introduced and real stakes are brought to the cast. The lyrics smartly tell a story from both Josuke and Kira's point of view- it works for the hero as well as the villain. It's filled with creative visuals.

But Jojo fans make a huge stink about it because it strikes a different tone than others in the series and they shit on the guy's voice work (which, you can have your opinion but people get so bandwagon-y about it).

Genuinely so well done with the human anger on her face but then collecting herself to have the blank 'princess' appearance since she's a public figure. That's how you build a ton of character without a single line of dialogue.
