A Republican on WI's Natural Resources Board has his term expire in May 2021. The GOP legislature refuses to confirm any of Evers's nominations. Meanwhile the guy just hangs around in the position his term ended over a year ago and has all the powers of the position still, including a vote. And WI's Supreme Court ruled 4-3 on party lines, "Yeah, that's fine. He can stay and vote."

The funny thing is, I put off watching Solo for awhile because I felt like a Han prequel was unneeded, and I didn't need to see a fascimile of Han Solo either. I have a feeling that was a common sentiment, and after seeing it, I would conclude that most people just went in with bias or didn't go in, with bias.

I will also state, which scarlet pointed out last night, that Solo was written in an episodic way and probably would have made for a better tv series than movie.

I am not big on stories where we already know the outcomes for those involved unless it is a top notch story. This just demeaned things, rather than mattered.

That said, lightspeed in Star Wars makes zero sense right now... and I mostly blame TLJ for it.

Solo was a steaming pile of garbage and basically killed the yearly star wars singular entries. A movie no one wanted and used a guy who would never recreate the charm of Han.

Rogue One was great though. It gave us hope that Solo destroyed.

The weirdest thing about that whole SCOTUS security bill was that the Senate passed it just for the justices, the House then went "You know, we should probably protect the clerks and other court employees too" and the Senate GOP threw a tantrum and said they'd refuse to pass that and so the House eventually went "jesus fine you fucking weirdos" and passed the more limited Senate version and saying they'd work on the expanded version later.

Putting aside whether the measure was needed, or the naked hypocrisy and self-serving nature of it all, it was just weird af.

They (the limited House bloc) actually wanted it for every federal judge across the country. Which, just isn't feasible in the scope of the US Marshall's. Difference between adding 9 peoples immediate families and 2700s.

It would have effectively poison pilled it completely.

I mean, that really doesn't make it better, Corrik. If anything, it makes it kind of worse. At least in my incorrect interpretation of events, there was a threat. If you're saying they were already planning this based on the nebulous threat of "left wing violence", then that's pretty bad. I mean, multiple mass shootings in a week and we have to scratch and claw just to get the bare minimum of gun safety legislation passed to protect the American populace, but Lord knows the left wing is the REAL threat that needs to be protected against immediately. I should also point out that January 6th was allowed to happen (largely because of the former President inciting a coup to maintain his position as President), yet for some reason, these kinds of safety measures weren't deemed as critical.

The bipartisan increased security for the SCOTUS family happened *BEFORE* the threat to Kavanaugh. It was announced after the leaking if the Roe V Wade draft resolution. The House actually slowed down the process and the article you mentioned about the bipartisan plan was talking about it still working through the house weeks after the plan had already passed the Senate.

It was not made and fast tracked due to the threat to Kavanaugh.

Correct. Minimum wage jobs are not meant to be lived off of. They are meant to be supplemental. As a second job in the household, or someone living with their parents or so on.

The fact so many people have refused to move up in life and campaigned for increasing minimum wage instead of finding better jobs has lead to jobs that maybe shouldn't be minimum wage remaining so, which has been a boon for staving off inflation, but has increased economic disparity.

You do realize that, if you don't already have money, saving money and building wealth is difficult? You get that, right? Our minimum wage in this country is $7.25/hr and the average cost of living (average, which means half the country is worse than this) is $15.82/hr. So even if you're working two full-time jobs at minimum wage (and this doesn't even consider restaurant work, where they're allowed to provide lower wages in exchange for the option of tipping), you're making $14.50/hr. Not only is that below the average cost of living, but it's $1.32/hr below, which means a large swath of the country beyond just "average" is unsustainable.

Keep in mind that rent is extremely high across the country. The average cost of rental for a one-bedroom apartment in this country is $20.40/hr. I specified one-bedroom first, because that eliminates the ability to live alone. But an average two-bedroom apartment is $24.90/hr, which is three times the minimum wage, so in order to SURVIVE in a rental, you would need to have TWO people both working MORE than 40 hours a week at minimum wage just to survive. And that's just RENT. It doesn't factor in gasoline prices, food prices, utilities, and God forbid a person experiences an unexpected medical expense (which is more likely to occur if you're in poverty).

So to say that people working two full-time jobs are just "bad with money" is disgustingly spiteful towards the lower class. Those people are working a fuckton harder than you, yet are nowhere near as comfortable in their lives.

You aren't supposed to be able to live off a minimum wage job.

This doesn't even take into account the issue of inheritances. By age 65 a person may have already received an inheritance.
