you could also argue this for clothing. but you have designers who charge $200 for a t-shirt because you're spending $150 on the brand and $50 on the t-shirt. people only buy these because they want to show the entire world they have enough money to spend $200 on a t-shirt.

just admit you like wearing these to show off how much money you have. you like the status symbol and it makes you feel good.

a lot of people are unfamiliar with watch brands. either way, it's always been my take that more info is never a bad thing

there's very little difference between cheaper t-shirts and more expensive t-shirts. but there are still differences, which people fail to understand. there's material (pima cotton, supima cotton, how much polyester is it in, etc), where is it made (child labor in china or fair wages in california?), fit (boxy, slim?), design etc.

in watches there is a MASSIVE difference between cheaper and more expensive watches

i don't care about showing off wealth, i don't even consider myself rich. i just try to live the life i want and watch collecting happens to be a top hobby of mine. i give the info and y'all can use that data to come to whatever conclusion you want.

Both interviews scheduled so far are online/over the phone. I don't expect any in person interviews for any position until the second or third round at least, due to COVID restrictions

i think that's common now, even on my agency. i would at least try to do it via webcam, let's them attach a face to a name. less awkward too than phone interviews where you can end up talking over each other

People took this to mean that AoS was definitively noncanon since Bobbi is in that, but it doesn't really add up considering MCU Clint's wife is named Laura. Personally I'm guessing they split Agent 19 and Mockingbird as characters, or Mockingbird is a mantle that Laura passed to Bobbi.

that would be the smart move, i would likely do the same. if i get a rolex at MSRP tho i can't sell it as that would ruin my relationship with the dealer and exclude me from all future purchases

but why does price matter at all? the look of the watch should be the only thing that matters. unless, of course, the only point of these trinkets is to tell everyone who sees them how much you paid?

in watch making, price is a reflection of craftsmanship, finishing and overall quality

it also gives people an idea of how comfortable i am spending however much money. otherwise what if people told me to buy a richard millie or AP for 20k instead when that is well outside of my established comfort zone

because most of this board lives in middle america where 100k is the equivalent of 250k/year

i hit 5 digits a month and noticed how sucky it was when i made only 100k on the coast

much like all hobbies, there are price tiers to watches

and money is a limiting factor in this hobby

it's like making a topic breaking down a poker hand i played and telling people how much i bet each turn and people saying i'm bragging about money because it was a high stakes game

it's just part of the hobby, otherwise everyone would get unlimited rolexes

I think I have the cover letter templates down well. I have two or three templates I swap around depending on which field the position is in. I've mainly applied to private sector jobs since they pay better here and tend to have permanent contracts; public sector ones tend to be temporary. I definitely need to practice interviewing, it's something I've never really done before and my first interview is coming up on Monday. Though it's a job I'm not that interested in in hindsight, so if I mess it up it's no big deal. Either way, I've got some practice in

yeah sounds like you've got a good hold of it. after the interview, write down all the questions they asked you. i have a databank of every interview question i've ever been asked. it helped me a lot, i would practice the answers in front of the mirror

I get it. As I said earlier it's very understandable. I think more specificity would also help in the conversation. What level of compromises can be to allow areas with sfh, parks, and multifamily housing.

at the beginning of this year, for new years eve, 5 of us flew to a huge nightlife city, rented an airbnb and bought a $5k table with alcohol.

all 5 of us started exhibiting covid symptoms shortly after. the 3 that left a day earlier got tested and all tested positive. since everyone of us in the airbnb exhibited symptoms and 3 tested positive, i didn't see the need to get tested as all it would do is expose those around me to covid (i live in a luxury condo and could run into people on the way to my car alone).

now i'm trying to get that entered as covid sick leave instead of sick leave (it's separate) and work is telling me that since i never got tested they can't do that. i explained the story to them and they don't care. should i had gotten tested?

Oh btw TC, I graduated as an engineer and am sending out applications, with the first interviews starting next week. Any tips?

nice! awhile back you had your topic about your final presentation/test whatever later that day and how you had to pass or you'd be dropped out of the program.

i went back to check and ask for an update the day after and it was closed so wasn't sure what happened and didn't want to ask in case it was a sensitive subject lol

seems like you're pretty advanced into your field, so try to find a job that you think you'll like. you gotta do this stuff 40 hours a week so gotta make sure

if it's slightly different but still interesting, don't be afraid to try it, you can always switch later. i'm just saying it's ok to be picky, idk about your specific area (geography and field) but job market is decent right now

put a good amount of time into your resume to make it look good and convey what you really want it to. come up with good templates for your statement of qualifications/cover letters. i eventually reached a point where i just had to change the date/recipient, job title and write 1 custom paragraph per application.

depending on your field, don't be afraid to work private sector, it's where all the interesting stuff is but consider going government at some point, it's a much easier and reliable job (and in my location higher pay but my understanding is that isn't the case everywhere)

last thing i'll say is that interviewing is a skill, no matter how qualified you are for a job, interviewing itself is a much different process. it's ok to take a few to adjust to it and learn how to better communicate. there's lots of sites with standard questions that can be helpful

feel free to ask me if you ever have any more specific questions

was towards the end of the night and i see an absolutely beautiful sydney sweeney type girl standing in the corner. i go up to her and say "i love how it looks like you're up to absolute trouble over here" and she giggles and we start talking. she says she lost her friends and can't find them. she asks me where the coyote bar (not actual name) is. so i tell her i'll walk her. luckily, coyote bar is 1 block from my luxury condo. so i walk her to her friends, a guy and a girl. she says we should go drink at my luxury condo and we all head over.

we get there and she asks me where the bathroom is, so i walk her. once inside the bathroom with her we start making out a bit before i leave her to do her business (the other girl ends up joining her). i pour out the drinks and talk to the guy. he says the 3 of them just started working together (the girl told me it was a country club and she was the newest employee on the service side). he tells me he was hoping to have a threesome with them but would give me one (lol). i tell him that's cool and he can bang in my spare bed room if he wants to (i have an extra full size bed above the laundry machines for guests).

the girls come out, we take our drinks to the couch. the guy sits on the end...and immediately passes out within 30 seconds (what..?). i sit on the elbow of the L shape couch with my girl and we start cuddling and making out. other girl is sitting on the left of my girl and they're holding hands the entire time. think she started feeling left out so she starts saying something which i didn't hear. she then follows it up with "i like girls". my girl looks at her and then looks at me and giggles "i like both". i'll spare the details from there, and summarize by saying i ended up banging both even though i really just wanted my girl. both girls were cute but my girl was perfect

by the end of the next day, she had stopped following me on insta, removed me as a follower and ignored all my messages (even though she read them)

ugh why'd that guy have to pass out, i would've married this girl...

As someone without parents, (even when they were alive, they werent great) it sure would be nice to have people who loved me unconditionally and supported me. Having parents to bounce ideas off of or ask for advice is also something Ive always wanted
