My understanding is that it's just a multiplier on the orbs you get so 100% means you get normal value from orbs, 200% would mean you get 2x energy. edit: oh I see, are you looking from the artifact screen? It should tell you the full value in your character attribute details under advanced stats --- I definitely did not forget to put the 2020 GOTD Guru winner, azuarc in my sig! |

HeroDelTiempo17 01/13/22 4:53:19 PM #30 | Well, Trump's PR team seems to disagree but I think all that stuff is largely worthless for me to speculate on. That's why all I had to offer was to point out what he's doing and presume why he's doing it. Like I said, there is a whole political machine around this and that machine has money so his goal might not even be to win but to continue the grift. Who knows. --- I definitely did not forget to put the 2020 GOTD Guru winner, azuarc in my sig! |

There's a whole narrative about Never Trumpers and other conservative moderates that the election hinged on. I don't know if this is true nor do I particularly care - the important part here is that there's a whole class of pundits and political machinery that operate around it being true (dark shoutouts to The Lincoln Project's grift). For a lot of these people Trump's COVID response was the last straw, and this is another part of the narrative that Trump would have been reelected if not for COVID. Also, everyone has been making the assumption that Trump will return to politics soon. Trump keeps going on these pro-vaccine spiels that keep popping up in the media (so weird!). It's all calculated to try and get back into favor with these guys and score points with credulous liberals. It really is his normal brand of PR, and we all know PR is something Trump is actually good at. You do not, under any circumstances, gotta hand it to him. --- I definitely did not forget to put the 2020 GOTD Guru winner, azuarc in my sig! |

Moving around areas you've already cleared gets tedious, and the fast travel parts are way, way too few and far between. There is a mod, it's called benchwarp and it does what it says. Huge QOL if you do randomizer or if you're just tired of walking around. Not sure if it can be modded natively through Steam though, I have GOG and have to do it manually. --- I definitely did not forget to put the 2020 GOTD Guru winner, azuarc in my sig! |

HeroDelTiempo17 01/07/22 7:22:50 PM #253 | I don't think she does much supporting, though? In terms of personal relationships she doesn't seem particularly close to anyone. Best thing I can come up with is her and Uriangier with the scene in ShB that's essentially Uriangier getting her to keep quiet about the WoL becoming a sin eater, and their Ultima Thule "death" scene (which does give Uriangier the chance to grow by supporting her). But that's still less developed than like...Uriangier/Thancred who for the comparatively smaller amount of time they've had on-screen very quickly developed a weirdly close relationship (???) None of this is to say she's bad however, she just very consistently feels the most detached. --- I definitely did not forget to put the 2020 GOTD Guru winner, azuarc in my sig! |

HeroDelTiempo17 01/04/22 4:41:59 PM #249 | I have to wonder if Y'shtola's stagnant character is tied to her being already popular and the defacto series rep. It's not a bad character. She's the one that gets to be effortlessly cool and smart. But despite her high screentime outside of 4.0 shafting her, she stays the same and mostly is around to advance the plot when needed. It's very safe and maybe the writers just don't want to fuck her up. --- I definitely did not forget to put the 2020 GOTD Guru winner, azuarc in my sig! |

Yeah the reason that the three best scions are Alisae, G'raha Tia, and Alphinaud (in that order) are that they are the ones that really sell the Scions as being your friends and not just coworkers. G'raha has less development than the other two but he's also an in-universe FF14 fanboy which is a fun dynamic and of course fans are going to eat that up. Also his cheerful optimism and self-sacrificing tendencies are legitimately endearing and this is true even before ShB. I played the Crystal Tower during 3.x and went from actively disliking the OC catboy with special eyes to being legitimately moved by him in the ending which is damn good. --- I definitely did not forget to put the 2020 GOTD Guru winner, azuarc in my sig! |

Also quite frankly wasn't at all expecting a Final Fantasy game to go deep on a nihilism/existentialism dichotomy as its core theme and actually do a shockingly good job of it, like what I'm going to have to stop you right here and direct your attention to Final Fantasies 6 and 9 (nice) edit: actually come to think of it, nihilism is the primary villain's motivation in 3 (kind of a big deal for Endwalker) and 5 as well, 13 also revolves around the party going through an existential crisis except that story has no fucking clue what to do with it. HeroDelTiempo17 12/27/21 12:13:26 PM #223 | Leveling gathering can be basically free if you do it right (ie grind collectables) with the only real expenses being gearing and the opportunity cost of spending company seals on cordials instead of whatever else you'd buy to make gil. You don't really have the option of going hard on gathering gear until max level anyways. Crafting however is yeah, a big gil sink. You can make money with it while leveling but you have to be pretty smart and expend a lot of effort on "market research". At max level it's pretty easy to set up small but steady income with it but for making big bank it's always gonna require some work. Both are still gonna be better than doing fates and maps on combat jobs. Although fates can be pretty good value sometimes. And gathering makes maps pure profit since you can get them yourself. --- I definitely did not forget to put the 2020 GOTD Guru winner, azuarc in my sig! |

I think so, you can ask Jammingway for lore on other civilizations, of which there are currently only one. So it's definitely going to be a side questline. Could be tribes, trials, or even dungeons (which might not be only MSQ anymore now that the scions are disbanded). I'd love to keep running through dungeons for dead civilizations, personally. --- I definitely did not forget to put the 2020 GOTD Guru winner, azuarc in my sig! |

HeroDelTiempo17 12/20/21 4:22:58 PM #188 | Mac Arrowny posted... People seemed to like the themes of the later stuff, but I really wasn't into the "all civilizations other than humanity give up on life and desire death" thing. I wish they'd emphasized that those were only the ones Meteion ran into or that she misinterpreted somehow. Stuff like giving up on life because you know the universe is going to die feels bad since we in the real world already know the universe is going to die and no one really cares. Reading through the topic now and when I said I had quibbles with the sci-fi storytelling this is what I meant. I'm glad to see I'm not alone on this. Despite the incoming walls of text I don't really want to rehash the argument, buty personal problem boils down to that even arguing the stories of other civilizations as non-representational, there are still fundamentally true things contained within them philosophically AND in terms of in-universe lore (the dragons and omicrons for example we are absolutely supposed to take mostly at face value, this is a lore payoff four expansions in the making). Dynamis is presented as a force that links emotional and physical reality and is explicitly synthesizing these two elements. So the accounts we are getting are biased, but still true. So yeah where the themes starts to lose me are where it flattens existential dilemmas I have to navigate every god damn day. From a sci-fi writing perspective most of my issues are fixed simply by showing societies that reject Meteion's message but fail against the Final Days anyways, or by showing more apocalypses directly caused by her (the only one we see like this is the final one in Dead Ends, which I do love conceptually). I think these are largely avoided to make us/Etheiris feel more special, which I'm not a huge fan of. If anyone has read Three Body Problem I had a hard time getting it out of my mind as I went through the final zone. I'm not really sure why, these are VERY different stories apart from dealing with existential dread on an intergalactic scale. But this is probably influencing my thoughts on the matter. Three Body is WAY more bleak, and Endwalker is a game where you can punch despair in the face. I guess what I'm saying here is my preference just leans towards acceptance and ambiguity rather than the adversarial Endwalker is forced to do as a video game. So to end on a more positive note: the postgame dungeon story where Jammingway walks into the realm that physically embodies the cosmic horror of mortality, basically says "lmao this completely fucking owns," and opens The Restaraunt At the End of the Universe? And even the supposedly fake constructs of pure despair are on board with self reflection and personal growth??? Hell yes. THIS is the shit I love to see. --- I definitely did not forget to put the 2020 GOTD Guru winner, azuarc in my sig! |

HeroDelTiempo17 12/19/21 10:00:45 PM #179 | Just beated. Overall I thought it was pretty good, but ShB has it beat. Part of this is because Shadowbringers got three patches of additional story that's already out, and according to the devs we shouldn't expect that for Endwalker. The other part is that Endwalker had the unfortunate task of having to tie up every outstanding major plot point in the game, resulting in some things feeling a little disjointed (hello Zenos!). Overall, Endwalker has more highs (though not the highest - Amourot is still my favorite area in either expansion), but as a cohesive unit it falls a bit short to me. Everything else is just personal minor nitpicks. For example while I don't think the swerve into existential sci-fi elements is completely out of place in a fantasy game, unfortunately I just don't think the writers are nearly as well suited to it. --- I definitely did not forget to put the 2020 GOTD Guru winner, azuarc in my sig! |
