Thankfully I did find the sorcery trainer but they're in a pretty dumbass location. In case anyone is going mad looking, go east from Gatefront Ruins then cross the bridge and go south. There is another set of ruins, check the basement.

And seconded on the level up rate being pretty slow. I have a bunch of stuff I want to try out but shit's too expensive! Around RL20 and the optional mini bosses I've found are barely giving me enough for one level up. Hopefully this is just early game resource woes, I haven't gone through the castle yet.

No, Ashes of War are basically the upgrade trees and changing the weapon art in one. One of mine turns it into a Quality weapon and alters the scaling.

They seem to be reusable, although I haven't tried it myself because I'm doing a dex build and nothing I've found is good for that.

This is a good succinct summary of the BotW comparison - Dark Souls already does this kind of thing and when you extend it out to a huge map you get something like BotW. Lots of freedom with loose directions guided by landmarks.

And I also hear that there are still tightly designed dungeons so to me this sounds like the best of both worlds.

I can deal with inconsistent frame rate in the 50-60 range, though close to 40 is pushing it. Large stuttering spikes are much more annoying to me. Which sucks because it seems fairly common in a lot of PC games!

I read the entirety of your post, the moralizing about the world needing to do action followed by "but actually I don't know what that action is" is exactly what I'm talking about. I get that everyone is stressed as hell about it but now more than ever we need to chill out and see how things develop before springing into action. Politicians are mostly talking PR and are just now announcing the sanctions, it is too early to be worried about if they don't work or aren't enough.

I've repeatedly heard the console versions are holding up better than the PC, but this is based on builds before the day 1 patch. If it was between PS4 and PC that'd be one thing, but the gap between current-gen and PC just is not really that large at the moment so I'd go PS5 unless you are really invested in mods or something.

And yes seconding the thing about the CPU, I've seen people with 3090s experiencing issues. The card itself doesn't cut it, it's something with the build. If you are willing to wait and see how that improves then give it a couple days, if you want guaranteed reliability immediately get PS5.

I've also heard comparison's to Dragon's Dogma so maybe point 3 should be if you're one of the 12 fans of that game.

I'm actually kind of curious as we move into the era of BotW-inspired open worlds if people are actually super into this type of design or if Nintendo is doing the heavy lifting here. BotW fans seem to shy away from Genshin Impact because gacha (surprisingly solid world design) and Fenix Rising because Ubisoft (haven't played because Ubisoft) and this is the first one I can think of that people seem actually excited about.

Everything I've read makes it sounds like if you like either or both of:

1) Souls games
2) BotW-style open worlds

Then you should try it but if you're a no on both I don't see why you'd bother.

I'm not sure I'd describe the Souls aesthetic as "grimy" although you can definitely say that about a lot of it (swamp level joke). There's always a small handful of legitimately pretty areas among the dark ones, and the enemy design has a sort of grotesque beauty to it. It's very classicaly gothic - I'd compare them to the Castlevania games as an example.

It's unfortunately very easy to get the wrong impression of FromSoft's games from how the internet talks about them out of context. It's not all shit-filled darkness and getting good, there's legitimately some bright spots and humor to them too! These games would not work without it, praising the sun and jolly co-operation are just as vital to the experience.

Ok, first you say Soul Hackers 2 looks worse than SMTV and now Persona 5? There are differences in the art style for sure, so there's going to be personal preference involved, I'll acknowledge that. But there's a lot more cel-shading flair and environmental detail going on than in SMTV. SMTV has some updated/more complex demon models and open-world environments, but it's also using some graphical tricks like all the god damn bloom and blurry filters, and the battles still chug sometimes anyways.

I kinda feel like we're back in the early 2000s arguing over how Wind Waker is a graphical downgrade lmao

Yeah exactly, I'm not trying to be a performance/graphics snob here but there's a real development cost to developing on multiple consoles. At this point, ATLUS actually has more experience on the PS4/PS5 than they do on Switch. This is probably easier. Same reason they stuck with the PS2 and 3DS for so long and skipped the PS3 almost entirely.

Well, SMT5 kind of ran like shit, maybe they don't want to bother.

They have dropped the "Shin Megami Tensei" and the "Devil Summoner" so just like Persona it went from being a spinoff of a spinoff to its own series in the franchise.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by fiscally liberal. A lot of Americans want better benefits but there's still plenty of ingrained financial conservativism from decades of propaganda and government self-sabotage. Put simply, people want better things but without substantially changing the status quo.

The increase in enrollment is (according to the college) compared to 2020 and 2021 which were lower due to COVID.

If you look into the group and what they have actually done it's pretty typical NIMBY shit dressed up in seemingly progressive language. Against the school building more facilities, stopping conversion of single-family homes into dorms, preserving "historic buildings." Typical stuff.
