A lack of Haar might be why I'm losing. I have him defending a Stairway that no enemy actually uses, so he maybe only brings down like like 2 or 3 units that wandered over to that side.

Reorganize your formations. Haar should be killing at least 15 or so units by himself in this map.

Unless there's some important reason you're holding that stairway, just leave it undefended, or have someone like Brom or Calill defend it.

Longest run, still failed. Mordecai reverted out of beast form and got wrecked. If only I had a Laguz Stone or Demi Band or something to give him.

Lethe starts with a Laguz Stone. Mordecai has Olivi Grass. Use them.

You're out of luck regarding the Demi Band since that thing no longer exists. It's now in Skill form, as you have seen from Volug's Wildheart.

As for me, nah. I haven't had one made since the single-use restriction imposed on me was removed months ago. Had to make a new one for every single overseas trip before that.

Where I live, men have mandatory military service for 2 years while women do nothing corresponding to that.

No way, unless you also make it so women get dragged to the barracks when they're 22, or they're legally obligated to have 2 kids minimum.

I'm playing a Venice game right now (with Gandhi present!). Should I pick Commerce or Exploration? All my cities are coastal and there are loads of coastal trading partners, but Commerce seems really good for Venice with the reduced prices in cities and Merchant of Venice bonuses.

Maybe do both of them. Commerce and Exploration both have useful policies for Venice but the finishers aren't really worth gunning for. Pick and mix.

Commerce:
- Opener is more gold from the capital, and since your capital is likely generating the most gold in your empire this is very helpful. It also lets you build Big Ben if you get a shot at it, which reduces gold costs by 15% and is thus immensely helpful.
- Mercenary Army lets you and your cities rapid-buy soldiers en masse in case of a military emergency.
- Mercantilism reduces gold costs by 25%, again very good for Venice. If you couple this with Big Ben then the game gets broken wide for you, really. The science bonus is also helpful.
- None of the others really matter. Wagon Trains is a waste of a policy for you. Entrepreneurism isn't as good as it looks since all your cities are on gold focus already and thus will allot specialists to Banks/Markets/etc. for Great Merchant generation in the first place; rather, focus on those few things that boost GP generation instead like Gardens and some Wonders. Protectionism and the finisher aren't as helpful since you should have more than enough gold, and happiness shouldn't be a major problem.

Exploration:
- Naval units are your jam. Opener's +1 sight/+1 movement for them is fantastic.
- Production is at a premium for all Venice cities. +3 Hammers for free with Maritime Infrastructure is always nice.
- Naval Tradition helps with happiness in case you have troubles here, though the policy this enables is more important.
- Merchant Navy strengthens your capital to have an edge in mid-late game wonders you need. Plus, more gold.
- Treasure Fleets boosts your gold income immensely due to your reliance on Cargo Ships.
- Navigation School is a joke because lolGreat Admirals and lolHidden Antiquity Sites.

Pick whatever you feel you need at the moment. Just don't forget to switch to Rationalism once you reach the Renaissance Era.

babylon doesnt have to sink everything in science

it's one of the faster domination civs. babylonian bowmen are basically composite bowmen for half price. easy early-game rush, works better than assyria or huns ancient era rush IMO, and walls make counter-defense super easy since they are basically arsenals in the ancient era.

for later contact, babylon can get artillery less than 25 turns after mongols/china get keshiks/chokonus.

The very act of choosing Babylon itself is sinking everything into science.

Bowman advice is worthless outside of a 1vs1 tiny map situation, so it shouldn't count as a general Babylon strategy. It's not sustainable for as long a time as Assyria or Huns either; even with optimal civ placement you're not knocking out more than one rival with it. Beyond it you're just trying to wreck rivals with superior tech, which is, again, sinking everything in science, just in a military manner.

If you were not going for a domination victory there's no reason to worry about Gandhi's nukes at all, period. No reason to pick Babylon or Korea or such and sink everything in science just because of Gandhi.

Only idiots who were warmongering liberally yet decided to leave Gandhi alone until he got nuke techs were the ones to actually get nuked by him.

Which characters are you using at the moment?

Some characters are so not worth investing EXP into unless you want to (inordinately) challenge yourself. This trait is especially strong for characters in the first part where nearly half of them are fodder with almost no hope of becoming strong contributors.

One of the big cons of RD tbh. Character balance is all outta whack, it's probably the worst out of the entire series.

What does importing do with Supports? Though I didn't do much with Supports.

PoR's support library is only unlocked and viewable in RD, as weird as it sounds. Any PoR supports you've unlocked and imported, you can view them in RD once you've beaten RD once.

If you import A support pairs, said two characters will have something called a Bond support that will raise crit rates when the two are close to each other. It's such a minor facet of the game that it doesn't really matter in the main game though.

The importance in transfers is in that stat transfer for maxed characters. Others are just extras that add some spice to the playthrough but don't really help at all.

All four are level 20, right?

That's a very nice transfer for Ike. Spd helps especially.
Very, very good for Neph as well. Transferring both Str and Spd is a major boon for her.
Skill on Jill... isn't really that helpful. Str/Spd/Def transfers would have helped, Skl not so much. Looks like she'll be almost identical to vanilla Jill.
Didn't expect anything from Lethe, so not surprised at all.

And those are the only maxed-level characters, right?

Considering you weren't aiming for transfers at all, I guess three stat boosts for two characters is a good enough haul.

I don't really care about Lethe since, as a laguz, it's incredibly difficult to transfer her stats in the first place. Most likely you didn't manage anything for her besides level 20.

So, Ike, Neph and Jill. How many green flashing numbers on their stats? That's what counts once maxed levels are confirmed. Can you fire up your PoR file to check?

How many characters maxed their levels? My guess is maybe Ike, The Neph, and Jill since you were maxing poetic about them, am I right? And are there more?

Doge has been notoriously my arch nemesis and I remind him of it every chance I get.

Why? Do you hate cuteness and d'awwws? :(

Makgeolli, a Korean unfiltered rice wine.

Good stuff, mmm.

I've tried all the fruit flavored ones and none of them are as good as the original flavor.

Why do they make fruit-flavored ones, really? It's something I can't understand.

That's for soju. Makgeolli has that sweet aroma and taste that really shouldn't be altered by any other ingredient.

That reminds me.

How was your PoR import data like? Did you successfully transfer any stats or supports? Or did you get nothing because you didn't max anything?
