Different types of gamers.

We, the losers who post on forums and take "Story" seriously explore games and talk to people and learn the lore.

80% of gamers don't even complete a game they start.

And I'd say 10% of them just plow through it "Next"ing their way across and getting angry and anything unskippable.

Before now this was hard to measure, but we have some (loose) ways of actually quantifying this now.

Steam, Xbox One and PS4 all put their Achievement unlock percentages up. So they're recording everyone with an online connection.

You'll be floored how many people have paid for and installed a game and then not even got the baby first "did the first bit" achievement.

And then especially with games like God of War Remastered where there is an achievement for every level, you can literally see the figures drop off.

This is especially hilarious in mainstream Triple A games where you see this demonstrated with Gusto.

Good example is The Evil Within. When I beat it the achievement unlock percentage for beating the game was ike 7%

And every single "Cute little side" ahievement for things like "Don't hit the Zombies with a bus" or "Don't kill anyone on level 2" I got along the way was like 0.78% unlock.

Possibly the most hilarious one is there is a bit where a guy falls off a make-shift bridge and you have to pull him up. I did that and got the achievement and again it was like 0.3% unlock. So 99.7% of PS4 The Evil Within players on PS4 with an online connection saw their buddy hanging onto a clif for dear lfie and just went "LOL DON'T CARE!" and ran ahead.


Mass Effect Andromeda's will be a bit wonky because the game is so new, but seriously, next time you have a minute, check out the Achievement unlock percentages on your favorite game and realize how much of both a minority and a nerd you are compared to the average gamer.

A lot of people will argue and complain that achievements are worthless and useless, but this is a prime reason why I enjoy them. You can really see who accomplished what, how deep into a game they really got, and have a bit of a standing record of your own accomplishments outside of a leaderboard.

My laser tag place is more like a local Chuck E. Cheese, with arcades and pool tables, as well as karaoke and a coffee shop inside.. It is the go-to place for family entertainment around here. The problem was I didn't have the marketing budget to reach my target audience the first year and a half. Once I paid back some debts amd reorganized, I was able to market more. Now I am over capacity at points with party bookings.

Her advantage was she had no expenses of her own, so she had essentially a blank check to market however and as much as she wants.

Well you didn't say all that to begin with, that's a pretty big massive difference than just calling it laser tag. I've gone to arcades, coffee shops and pool halls. I've never stepped foot in a laser tag facility. Now your annoyance is a bit more justified knowing the expanse of your business isn't limited to just laser tag.

I served in the active Army for 4 years, a lot of my job was outside and the rain didn't mean anything when there was a job to be done. I've spent hours being saturated doing my job, wasn't a fan of it to begin with but got used to it.

I was suspended last year for talking about it. First, I was blocked and sent to a page with the suicide prevention number. Later it became a suspension. Then to get my account back, I had to fill out a form explaining why I said what I did. Then it gets reviewed and decided whether or not you lose your account.

It really sucked. I don't have anyone I can talk to in person. My entire social life is here, so getting that cut out for a couple of weeks when I was at a bad place in my life wasn't great.

Still, I understand why it had to be done, and I don't hold a grudge against the mods/admins. Idk, just kind of feels like there should be a better way than just cutting people off.

That.. is legitimately fucked. Wow.
