So, random thought.

If the Paris Agreement were, for example, the New York Agreement instead.

Do you think Trump would've stuck with it?

Or they could even be the Paris, New York Agreements!

(good lord there are way too many cities called Paris in the US. I knew about Paris, Texas, but wow)

Water is the majority of what i drink, the next candidate being loose leaf tea.

I get that there is some sugary incentives to prefer soda, particularly with the average levels of consumption for a lot of people. Even it it were to magically be equivalent to water in every respect, I would probably not prefer it over water. Too much carbonation for regular drinking. Too much artificial flavorings.

Water is just clean and simple, although admittedly less of both in modern times.

Similarly, if you only eat vegans, you're technically a vegan.

Okay, you carnivores don't get what "you are what you eat" means. I can't believe I have to explain basic biology to you people.

Let's make one thing clear. "You are what you eat" refers to the fact that your body is literally made up of parts of things that you ate. It does not make you a vegetable if you eat mostly vegetables, it's just that your body was made using nutrients that came from vegetables.

Another thing: Both you and Omega are talking about attributes. "Healthy" and "vegan" are attributes of physical things, not physical things themselves. You can eat healthy potatoes in the form of potato chips all day long, but the fact that the potatoes were healthy has nothing to do with your health. Further, eating herbivores does not make you an herbivore, since, by definition, eating an animal makes you not an herbivore.

Have you been eating clown lately, because you sure are being funny!

You're right, I need to eat more logic. Brains are supposed to be healthy, right?

S4E7: The Better Man

Cthulhu is summoned. Now we're talkin!

Everyone fails, and then The Outrider appears. Who does he think he is upstaging Orpheus?? Like, we juuuust got quality Orpheus time after who knows how many episodes of dealing with the other losers, and this jerk shows up and just squashes the problem like a bug.

As fate would have it, it would not be long before Torrid manages to get one up on The Outrider, and now Orpheus has a different problem on his hands.

And Triana gets to see what is in her closet.

The Triad gets a 4th member and those sure are some stories alright.

Triana is basically written off the show to make way for who knows what. Shame, she was alright, although there wasnt too much realized potential there.

I think I am spying some vague signs of a mustache on Dean.

On the other hand when you phrase it as something like "Game that is over 20 years old can now be beaten around 30 seconds faster than previously thought" it just seems kinda silly.

If the marathon world record was beaten by 30 seconds it would be a pretty big deal, wouldn't it?

It is amazing how many people here are completely ignoring the first statement of 'i get it' when making the second statement which generalizes the thing in a way that if an average person were to see, would wonder wtf these nerds are doing nerding out over someone being really good at a game quicklike. The marathon comparison is a valid one, but I severely doubt most people would equate athletic records to gaming records. "I am the fastest runner in the world" vs "I pressed a bunch of buttons real good".

I am only vaguely aware of David Bowie as being some famous musician, so making the connection to the S2 finale did basically nothing for me. You could ask me to sing a song, any song of his, and I would just stare at you dumbly. I'm sure I've heard some of them, but I've zero association of them to Bowie. The character on the show remains an enigma.

S4E6: Self Medication

Rusty saved by a doctor's note. Quite dramatic an opening, all the better to create such a contrast when the appointment is revealed.

The therapy is full of some natural candidates given some cast members we've encountered. A former wonderboy, action johnny, and are those the two boy detectives that Dean is always reading about?

I feel like it has only just scratched the surface of some of the trauma that a realistic interpretation of a boyhood adventure fantasy could cause if one were to give it thought. I am eager to see how straight the session is played, or if it will go off the rails at some point.

Therapy guy waxes poetic about the spearpeople in our minds (somehow making it sound not weird at all), while Sgt. Hatred continues to be a very disappointing Brock.

"Did I just kill Premature Ejaculation?" This is the sound of the therapy session opting for less rails. Either that, or it will end up being part of an act. With this show, the latter is more likely, but either way, it means less fun times exploring psychological ramifications of the events in these folks lives, which makes it less interesting imo.

...but still a hoot.

Post credit makes me feel silly for not suspecting The Monarch, that was too obvious.

If they keep protesting, cave in eventually and pull up whose line is it anyway clips. Make up something about improv being fundamental and that if they can't even master that, they'll never master harder routines.

As a followup, get fired and then sue the college for not understanding true comedy. If this fails, take your act to a new college and repeat until you win.

It was OK, nothing spectacular by the series standards.

S4E5: The Revenge Society

Title sounds nifty.

"Are we even in the same building?" Another guild trial thing, but this time we don't care about the victim and it isn't even about that, but this old guy getting revenge that will surely be elaborated on in the minutes to come.

"My name is Revenge" No hesitation or thought. I could start liking this guy pretty quick if he keeps this up. I mean, everything is point to him being Phantom Limb, but that's impossible, he has white hair and too much mustache.

More importantly, we now have an ID on Sovereign, who is now more blatantly championed by his two grunts like all the other villains seem to do. Good guys get one follower, bad guys get two. It is probably some law of the land.

The Sovereign, aside from being British, also has heterochromia, which is probably a fetish for some people. I've never been too fond of it myself, but sometimes it can add flair. Here it just is a thing of note. And his two minions both have eyepatches. I am now reminded of the first episode with two kidneys being 'donated'.

Is the guild originally from the future? That would explain all the superscience happening in the era. That'd be cool. Maybe I'm just wildly speculating, after all, we have seen guild activity in the past too. I just can't not see there being time travel at some point however, that's too easy a target for sci-fi to completely avoid.

Phantom Limb grandpa band. This is a thing that existed.

ORB!

followed by "I know where the Orb is!" said by someone who really should know better than to open their big mouth on their big head.

...

I think Phantom Limb just managed to shoot higher up my ranking. This is priceless!

"Why can't I hear them?" "Because you are sane!"

Meanwhile, as Rusty so aptly put it, Rhode Island is invading the compound while Hank gets a speech about the birds and the bees and the eggs from Sgt. Hatred.

"I already know that you used to be a pedestrian" It continues to be a one note gag, but that doesn't mean it can't also be good sometimes.

Dean and Rusty also get some bonding time, over vomit and 95% polyester.

The elderly ettin brings up many solid points about the kids these days that are probably quite apt when you are a two headed monster.

Too many great lines by the elderly duo in one to quote, but basically everything they say is magic. I don't want to care about them, but I can't not care about them because they keep being amazing. They even manage to get the ORB. Nothing about this episode makes any good sense in all the right ways.

"I'm you from the future, we have to finish your time machine before the angels of destruction find the portal! ...nah, I'm just messing with ya, come with me, I need your help." I somehow feel like I know nothing when it comes to the Sovereign.

...

I mean, I know know more about The Sovereign now that Dean was just made it, but um...what?

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORB!

....

Alright, that's it. Not trusting anything this show shows or doesnt show me again.

“While NOAA’s data management procedures may well need improvement, their results have been independently validated and agree with separate global temperature records created by other groups,” Mr. Hausfather said, citing Berkeley Earth and the U.K.’s Met Office Hadley Centre.

In retrospect, I probably should have paid more attention to those musical acid trips, things like that are usually foreshadow heaven. Something about flying dinosaurs and a space head and tentacles. Could mean anything, really.

S4E4: Return to Malice

Sounds like an evil episode, probably Monarch focused since he was absent the last one.

"Two ton 21" Dude's moved up in the world, although he's kept his number.

...dude talks to the skull of his dead friend. There goes any thoughts of him being a normalish character.

"Now I know what happened to my copy of The Time Machine" Such a classic, too.

21's definitely taken some levels in competency though, cuz he sure kidnapped the boys easily enough. Not that this was shown to be a hard task, but still.

Globface and Lady Globface and a Globmobile and a Globo the wonder dog....Dr. Ms. The Monarch is in rare form this night.

"If anyone knows the rules about abducting young boys from their bed, it's ol' Sgt. Hatred!" I miss Brock, Hatred has like, one gag, and it isn't even a particularly good one.

"Oh yeah, I did it. It was me, I killed 24." "We all did, Gary, We all did."

I gotta say, his own minions and Hank and Dean not recognizing The Monarch is rich.

Everything is getting all sobby dramatic, and it sorta works somehow.

And then the show remembers 'oh yeah, this actually can't go on like this, lol jk'

Someone who is not 21 checked off the venture bros on that list....we've a new mystery on our hands it seems.

I think the poll option is missing a few shades between "Completely 100% on board" and "Zero interest".

The primary goal of living creatures is to survive and perpetuate the race, yes. Having lots of kids is just one tool in the survival kit though, often used by insects and many prey species as a means to offset predatory meals.

If humanity as a species started breeding like bunnies suddenly, it would quite literally be the end of the world as we know it.

S4E3: Perchance to Dean

Between all the pregnancy jabs in the beginning and a present day obstruction of Hank doing a pee, I am beginning to suspect that Rusty is not a good parent. Also Dean has an aborted clone of himself that is somehow still alive.

Even Sgt. Hatred thinks Rusty's going a bit far.

Meanwhile, Dean learns why he's named Dean, as his father pumps audio LSD into his brain.

Conveniently Dean is gonna be pretty isolated, no distractions, so this whole "I killed Dean' plot can exist and be milked hard.

Or I could have it wrong and the bigger plot is gonna be Freaky Dean as this mental projection of Rusty is convincing the aborted Dean into murderous ideas. Really, this fake Rusty is being a better dad than the real one. Real people are hard and full of ideas different than your own.

Ok, this escalated quickly. So many delicious misconceptions going off rapid fire.

"Hey, that's where that is" - Dean finding out what happened to his Great Boy Detective book.

And so the story ends like it began, Hank being in trouble.

Somehow the cops overlooked everything that happened this episode. Really, this episode only seems to work on a cartoon level. Wtf is everyone smoking for there not to be some repercussions to all of this?
