New Game + Spoilers

Beat the Twins. Level 65 on Normal. Was tricky and I had did some swapping to bring in Ann for Matarunda on the Twins and eventually had to swap out Ryuji for Yusuke for Masukukaja to finally get those last few hits in.

There where multiple occasions where Hassou Tobi whiffed on one of them. Yoshitstune is not a guaranteed win by any stretch of the imagination.

Agreed. I'm at the point where I don't really see Joker as a self-insert, but more of a silent protagonist that I can name. There's really not much that's different between him and Ludger from Xillia 2 in that regard, just that Ludger has an official name.

And we're probably getting an official name for Joker once P5 Arena comes out. Unless Atlus does a complete cop-out and calls him Joker. Which would be hilarious.

Third Palace Spoilers

I rather liked the fact that Kaneshiro was someone more or less unconnected to Makoto. It mixed up the formula a bit so it wasn't always just an adult that your next party member knew personally. Granted, it also showed some dev bias that Makoto is the one that essentially get the storyline spotlight all by herself and Kaneshiro is merely a plot device in a Monster-of-the-Week fashion.

Sixth Palace Spoilers

Plus, Kaneshiro's Palace being where Makoto's Persona awakens throws you off the scent of anyone else connected to her being a target, making the moment where Sae reveals her calling card much more of a "Whoa!" event.

The traitor thing really disappointed me.I ruled Akechi out thinking it was way too obvious. You spend most of the game wondering who it is just for that crappy reveal.

Akechi being the obvious mole is the red herring for the fact that the party knew the entire time and set him up to expose his superiors. They made a masterful turnabout from a near unwinnable situation.

Uh, so something odd happened.

I took a Marie friend, cast the all-elemental buff, survived the first Megaflare...and then Bahamut proceeded to not cast Megaflare for the rest of the fight. I even got the "light is gathering!" message several times, only to have him just cast his spells over and over again. Somehow won, but didn't get any of the extra missions.

Just bizarre. Oh well, I'll take the moogle.

I answered "The knowledgable type" and got messages from Makoto and Hifumi. I'm almost certain that who sends you messages in Hawaii depends on confidant rank.

Makoto and Hifumi don't need too much. I was able to get Makoto's date at Rank 5 my first playthrough and on second playthrough got Hifumi's message even though her rank wasn't that far either.

Ann and Kawakami require you to have gone the romance route with them at a bare minimum, and Kawakami might require you to be at max with her. Ann you could probably be at Rank 9 Romance.

Trip Spoilers

The best part is when you go on a Hawaii date, Ryuji gets all pissy the next day talking about the bro code and wondering what you were doing. If you answer "I was with someone", Ryuji immediately freaks out and starts to ask who it was, before quickly backtracking and saying he doesn't want to know, because he doesn't want your secret lover to come after him with an axe.

Obviously this is great if you go out with either Ann or Makoto and he's standing between them.

Persona 4 cast vs Persona 5 cast feels like one of those debates that's going to rage on forever.

Of modern vintage, I vote Tales of Berseria. When even the little kid ends up becoming a badass, you've got yourself a solid cast. The weakest party member, Rokurou, still manages to be plenty likeable and has a solid enough personality and development to not feel like a throw-in. It all starts with having an amazing main character in Velvet and just branches off from there. Doesn't matter if the moment was serious, or light-hearted, the main party never seemed to miss a beat.
