Nathan Drake

+ Even though it features a lot of guns, his moveset seems the most unique
+ Plenty of disruptive moves

+/- Jack of all trades, master of none

- He has a steep learning curve
- Struggles against fast opponents, small opponents, and (gulp) fast and small opponents due to it trimming the moves that will work on them

Bottom Line:
I certainly have mixed feelings about him. He seems to best suited as a complementary piece in a 2-on-2 match.

+ Maneuvers well
+ Aerial combos are off the charts
+ Extremely powerful

+/- Super moves are on point but also slow enough to be able to dodge if you aren't in a compromising position

- Slow attacks are more pronounced when there are 3 or 4 combatants in play
- Guns are useless
- Might have the most avoidable attacks
- I want to punch his smug face from the results screen every time

Bottom Line:
I can't put my finger on it, but he feels like he doesn't belong in this game (has nothing to do with his source material). However after a few matches, I was really able to put aside some of the glaring flaws that he has because he is probably the most fun character I have played thus far.

Oh, I guess there are multiple online modes. Nobody was in the first one, but I found matches in the second one. In my first five matches, 10 of the 15 opponents were Raiden. I think that I mustered three total kills across those five matches. Most were free-for-all, though one was a 2-on-2.

In my sixth match, it was a timed FFA with me as Heihachi (who I learned through extremely small sample size and lots of Raidens was likely my best online character), and my opponents Sweet Tooth, Kratos, and Kat. I managed to only die once, and I used my Level 2 super move to notch four kills. I felt like I was either in the lead or in second with less than 30 seconds to go, but then Kratos got two kills, and I was nervously trying to get enough AP for a last-second super move kill, but time ran out.

I finished second to Kratos.

I did some testing, with the Steelers and Chiefs and in both instances, they gave up the worst pick that they owned in a round.

4 / $7.08 mil / $1.20 mil is what he is asking

4 = length in years
$7.08 mil = total salary he is asking for
$1.20 mil = amount from said total he is asking as a signing bonus (guaranteed money)

Average annual cap hit = $7.08 mil / 4 = $1.77 mil
Annual bonus = $1.20 mil / 4 = $300k

The bolded numbers, which you can easily come up with for all the players mentioned, are the ones you really want to pay attention to as you form your own custom offers for interested players. As another reminder, all contracts have ascending cap hits, so the first year cap hit will always be lower than the average annual cap hit for whatever deal you end up offering with the one exception being a contract with no guaranteed money (all cap hits will be the same throughout the life of it).

I haven't decided whether or not to participate in this phase, so I will not open up any PMs until the deadline. You then need to make sure that you end up offering a contract that the player will agree to sign. As long as you don't lowball them, you should be fine.

Phase 2 of Restricted Free Agency

In the posts below will be a list of all the players that were offered tenders in Phase 1. In addition to their team, position, and name, they will have listed the base deal that they are looking for and the price, in draft picks, that you will have to pay should you sign them to an offer and the original team elects not to match it in the third and final phase.

You have plenty of flexibility regarding the base deal though. You should use it as a guideline to know how much they are expecting to earn on an annual basis, but you can alter the years, total money, or signing bonus. Do keep in mind that if you want a player, you will want to offer a deal that you believe the other team is not likely to match.

Do not feel compelled to participate in this phase if you don't want to. Every year, we get at least some activity via AI or users, so only do so if you really want a player and are willing to part with a draft pick or two to get them. You can also try some super metathinking and try to sign a player that you are certain the original team will match so that you can mess with their cap space, but that's on you if you want to play it risky.

For those who do wish to participate, you will have roughly five days to send me a PM with the player or players that you are targeting and the deal (in slashline form) that you are offering them.

Special Note - You can only attempt to sign a player if you have the correct draft capital to give up. If someone has a 1st round pick attached to them, you must be in possession of a 1st round pick and so forth. Also, for those who have multiple picks in a given round, I think that you give up the worst pick that you own in that round (If you own the 10th and 15th pick, then you give up the 15th pick) should your offer not be matched.

I'm not even a third of the way through this and I am already finding it quite difficult where to place people. Sweet Tooth is definitely in a class of his own for the time being though. I know that for certain.

PaRappa the Rapper

+ Punching barrage move is outstanding
+ Due to his small size, his Level 1 super move is actually quite effective (unlike Sir Daniel)
+ May have set the bar with the greatest Level 2 super move, but...

- I swear that his Level 2 super move depletes the bar faster than let's say Heihachi or Fat Princess who have similar styles
- Lacks "wow" factor
- It seems that when multiple people attack each other at roughly the same time, PaRappa always loses out
- "I gotta believe!"

Bottom Line:
It's hard to put into words, but PaRappa seems like the kind of character you would use if this was your first fighting game but one you will never touch again once you get used to the game.

Fat Princess

+ After having been the victim of her first super move for so long (it is the reason I had that aforementioned triple overtime match), I can say that it is excellent to use
+ Her second super move might be better than Heihachi's since I have more control
+ Watching her throw makes me laugh
+ Excellent triangle moves

- Circle moves yield little in AP and have low accuracy
- Combination of sluggish maneuvering and fast attacks makes it hard to get fully comfortable
- Related to the above, I feel like I am reacting to opponents far more than setting the tone

Bottom Line:
Her polarizing attributes make it hard to see me playing as her in the future, but she is fun at her core.

I forgot to mention this yesterday, but in regards to Sir Daniel matches taking forever (in untimed rounds), I had one match go to triple overtime and another to double overtime because they were on one-level stages or two-level stages where Sir Daniel's first two super moves were still useless.

I tried it and didn't understand it. What does a space shuttle have to do with him? I was also under the impression that it only applied to a single opponent, so I went with the bear one since I would routinely get 2-5 kills depending on the amount of opponents.

I was absolutely torn on who to rank higher between Sir Daniel and Heihachi since they are so different in terms of pros and cons. Do I value fun factor or likelihood to win with more? In this particular case, I went with the latter, though I won't guarantee that will always be the case.

Heihachi

+ Plethora of useful attacks. I probably use about 85-90% of them in a given match.
+ Great super moves, most notably the bear on level 2
+ He's an absolute boss in the air

- Has no reach
- Fewer attacks than I assume most characters since I noticed at least one move was an additional dodge
- Honestly, he's kind of bland with such a vanilla moveset. I guess that should be expected when you put a fighting game character from a 2D plane, 1 on 1 fighting game into a game like this.

+ Surprisingly agile and nimble both offensively and defensively
+ Sword attacks may not be fast, but they have great reach and connect well
+ Easy to control the flow of the match if 1 or even 2 on 1

- Seems difficult to get AP with because...
- Several moves are very difficult to pull off on flat stages. Also...
- 1st and 2nd super moves are practically worthless on said stages
- Throw moves take too much time

Bottom Line:
Fun character, but it can get frustrating on some stages since it will take forever to finish. Sadly, I don't seem myself using him online assuming that Super Kills are required across all match types.

It was only $8, so I decided to give it a try. I might see if there's anyone playing online toward the end of the month, but for now, I'm just trying out each character (via random selection) in Arcade Mode (I think that is what it's called).


Ratchet

He's not stiff, but he's kind of clunky and awkward. His moves aren't as instantaneous as I would have liked, and the net result is several movies being telegraphed and easy to avoid or disrupt. It was his upper moves that tended to feel right and be the most effective to me, but it gets a little boring using the same five-ish moves over and over. Aerial attacks were a great disappointment. His super moves, on the other hand, are excellent and had a high success rate.


Sweet Tooth

Jumping is a bit awkward with him, but I assume this is prevalent for the vast majority of characters. I really liked 80+% of his moveset though, which not only makes him to fun to change things up with, but can make me unpredictable. He doesn't have much range for someone with firearms, but his triangle shotgun attack is brutal. That thing can send someone flying, disrupt seemingly any attack, and yield a lot of AP. It's a shame that his super moves are a letdown. I don't bother going for the 2nd or 3rd stage of them.

The missile is hard to control and just way too easy to avoid. The third thing is easier to control but isn't much harder to avoid. The The initial one seems to be the one that I have the best success rate with despite arguably being the easiest to avoid.

The bottom line is that I could see myself using him online despite my feelings toward the very things I need to pull off super moves in order to win.
