KH2 doesnt have much contest strength anymore either. Most people have moved on to WRPGs anyway, and Skryim (despite it being meh imo) is praised by plenty of people. GameFAQs isn't most people. The biggest one - For some years, Allen prioritized variety, while for others he said fuck it and gave it their 4 best games, variety be damned. This is most obvious with 1995 vs. 1987. 1995 had some bad fodder to avoid multiple SNES games, while 1987 had 4 NES games. 2. Handheld games are getting slightly shafted. I get that a lot of gamers hate them, and many others view them as strictly second class. But there is the occasional really great one, and I feel like we're 50/50 on them actually making the match pics. Link's Awakening is the most blatant since its easily the big 1993 game on this site and even several others. And obviously Pokemon G/S would've helped a lot today. 2. 2006 just got royally screwed for no reason. There's no defending Twilight Princess at the bottom and Kingdom Hearts 2 not in the pic. I honestly think that Allen did this just to make the vs. 2011 match "more interesting". Without that cinderella run fresh on people's minds, SBAllen would choose to snub SMRPG from 1996's pic for the sake of variety. It's less a case of "17 would kick butt because of all these formidable games" and more a case of "BotW can single handedly beat every year since 2012." Yeah, once the dust settles I think Persona 5 will join the ranks of Tales of Symphonia, Persona 4, and Xenoblade. Maybe a little stronger but not much. And NieR Automata isn't that big a deal.
