It bothers me because it's "Best year in gaming" not "year where the most good games were technically officially released in the US"

Most years I'm fine with that metric but 1986 is so famously huge for video games to act like it wasn't one of the best years in gaming is annoying and wrong.

Well it is illegal to watch cp as opposed to murder.

They both shouldn't be supported because it encourages what happens in the video to happen. But people will get outraged if you vaguely describe what might be in a CP video but the TT of the murder video is a graphic description of what happens to a real person in the murder video and then some people were like "kewl, let's share it".

It's strange that some people are a-ok with some horrific shit but then sensitive to other horrific shit. Horrific shit is horrific. CP is illegal presumably because the idea is that people getting something out of viewing it will encourage more people to make it, but that logic doesn't extend to murder videos at all.

It's strange how people think.

why should reality be taken down?

Because we live in a world where things are considered offensive. If there are rules in place to restrict content the number 1 thing that should be restricted is murder videos.

If you want to have a debate of "all speech and video content should be ok" that's a debate to have, but that's not the world we live in, so if we have any standards about offensive and inappropriate content they should fucking start with murder, don't you think?

And yes, there is a valid concern to normalizing murder. Which happens when we enable people to easily share murder videos.

FFS why is child porn illegal? Because children were hurt in it's production, well I've got some news for you, people are hurt in the production of murder videos too!

I admit that i watched the video. When i was googling it i found it on pretty fucked up website, and by curiosity i checked some videos on that site, and i can tell you that beating video was NOTHING compared to the rest on that site. That girl beat up video is like 3/10 compared to what kind of horrible shit stays in internet and can be found by anyone without police or anyone else taking them down.

What is even more fucked up is how desensitized i have become. Watching those videos should make you feel physically bad, and should be hard to watch, yet i felt nothing.

That's because you seek out and watch shit like this. That will make you desensitized.

Idk how but at some point people on the internet thought "watching the most horrific videos possible is like college hazing, if you endure it you are cooler or better for it" when it's completely the opposite.

Content-ifying and thus commidfying people's suffering is like the definition of evil and bad, how few people seem to care is insane to me.

How she can cheat, and still get all the facebook support, the kids, and that alimony check is beyond me.

But to say that this is basically what the common marriage is like is ridiculous.

That's probably a good start, but ultimately there isn't a "one-size fits all" answer here, either.

I would say there are certainly exceptions to that rule but are circumstantial.

But like is it appropriate to flirt with a classmate? Co-worker? Waitress? Girl in a hobby group? Couldn't it be argued that "they are just there for the project and therefor by flirting with them you are making it impossible for them to exist in public without being an object of sexual pursuit or something like that?

Couldn't somebody say "women are PEOPLE they don't exist just for your to oggle and harass them" so then even at bars it's inappropriate to approach a stranger maybe?

I've read stories about like Bill O'Riely or Devin Faraci
https://medium.com/@nickmon1112/devin-faraci-d7ca64424d47

And like they paint these big horror story pictures of these people as creeps, and they have points where they've crossed lines, but basically any guy will sound like a creep if you take every time he was sexual and put it in text form online.

We'll ignore the groping thing the guy did for the sake of this discussion.

So the main thing is that it's that flirting failed and the context was inappropriate. Right?

Don't at all be flirty with women if it's not a context where that is specifically kind of the point (like a bar or tinder) right?

I guess I'm trying to understand how a person avoids something where people can paint you as a creep forever while still being a sexual adult. I've got around it by never pursuing anybody ever, but I'm curious how most of you deal with it.

If you flirt then you must have flirted unsuccessfully sometimes, right? So if all the women you've ever flirted with unsuccessfully got together with a blogger could they paint you as a creep? And would that be ok? And what would your response be?

yeah, they did happen before the split so a lot of it is unchanged (we can assume) but the writers have said that the jump to the Kelvinverse did have ripples in both directions (such as Chekov being older, among many others)

That's really cool. I'm probably one of the few old-school fans that actually really enjoyed the new movies. My only real complaint was that Beyond had the perfect setup to introduce the borg to the Kelvinverse; the enemies already looked like hi-tech borg, they glowed green, the villain kept talking about unity and all that.

Agree on Voyager and TNG. I absolutely loved DS9 as it did something completely different without being to different. ENT, as I mentioned before, I hated and didn't bother watching after the first season. I hated the characters, I hated the cast, I hated the no-tech premise, I hated the timeframe that forced us to get reintroduced to species we already knew for years. It was just a mess.

I admit I never really watch Deep Space 9 because I wasn't interested in watching the show centered around a stagnant Space Station. I hear it's got the best story and characters out of all of them, though.

I remember thinking that too. They remedy it in the third season by introducing a ship named the Defiant. Really though, the constant traffic from Gamma Quadrant species might as well have had made them a ship. It didn't really feel boring because the wormhole basically delivered an alien plot to the doorstep every week.

I'm on the sixth season now; the borg children are probably the only time in all of Star Trek history that child characters were absolutely horrible.

Oh! Another missed potential! The ship should have been visibly different each season or at least by the end from all the alien tech they scrounged. I realize that would have been a budget nightmare fo the ship model, but at least have some cues on the interior like maybe different style consoles or different light schemes or weapons or something.

The ship looking different with time and evolving based on the "lost in space" premise was part of the original pitch of the show. But yeah they never followed through with it. Episodic as fuck to the very end.

Another area where Enterprise beats it.

Also the recent Star Trek movie, Star Trek Beyond references Enterprise *spoilers* The Xindi Wars are referenced and an NX class ship is seen, and even though it's a different timeline those things I think happened before the timeline split

Voyager is my favourite series.

I finished watching Enterprise recently. I had always heard it was bad. When it was all added to Netflix last year, I thought I might as well watch it. Turns out I liked it a fair bit.

Enterprise got a lot of run-off Voyager hate. Voyager is a worse series overall though it is more consistent in what it is. Voyager is pretty consistently low-mediocre. Enterprise has several episodes and arcs that are really great.

TNG > DS9 > TOS = ENT > VOY

It took an episode or two for me to get the feel for it, the first 20 minutes made me think it was going to be crap but it's not.

Because it's based off a book (series?) it's got a very fleshed out universe. That's probably the biggest draw. I can't tell if it feels dumber than Battlestar because it is dumber or because I'm older, but at worst it's realism is as low as a show like "The Last Ship" or "24" which is plenty fine if the show is fun which it is.

Its the kind of show that I think I'll wait until each season is over to binge it, but yes, good show.
