A fairly unconventional game you might wanna try if you both are into turn based strategy is Divinity Original Sin. It has coop where each of you can control two characters and you can strategize together since there's so many combos in the game that you can pull off using multiple characters. Like she's a wizard and you're a thief, you throw a water balloon at an enemy and she uses lightning to stun them sorta stuff. It's the kinda game I really enjoyed playing through with a friend because I didn't know how he was building his dudes and he didn't know how I was but by the end of the game we were pretty familiar with what one another could accomplish and tried to set things up where one of us could set up massive chain reactions for the other.

Not everyone has a decent monitor or wants to stick with an "okay monitor that does the job, but isn't exceptionally great".

Those people aren't building budget, then. $500 PCs are budget, and wanting to splurge on stuff you don't have to makes it not budget anymore.

Lots of rich people on CE who have tons of 4K monitors and 42" inch tv screen laying around.

Here's my personal situation: My brother has never built a computer, he has two monitors, one he got from a friend for free, and another he got from his prebuilt. My other brother has also never built a computer. He has one he purchased on his own when I gave him one of my old builds, plus I gave him my old monitor because I wanted a new one. If either of them were to decide to build their own PC, they'd each have an existing pool of resources to work with. I have also personally given monitors and keyboards to friends many times for their own builds that I wasn't using anymore. If you "needed" a 4K monitor for your build, you're not building budget to start with.

I'm willing to give TC the benefit of the doubt by believing that someone would be using a laptop and have no existing monitor, but these people are definitely not the norm. Something like 85% of Americans own computers, and I sincerely doubt people who haven't already fiddled with them in some capacity to have components from an existing build to pull from, especially a monitor, KB/Mouse, or OS license would be looking to build one completely from scratch.

It's true. You're either hitting 'x' through conversations, or navigating menus (status, combat, item, etc.) by hitting 'x.' To be fair, you're still doing this in FFXII, now you're only hitting 'x' in combat when you need to interrupt your gambits.

I meant it in the sense that most overworld battles consist of attack, attack, attack, occasionally use a spell to deal greater damage to beat enemy faster. All Gambits are is letting you automate these routine things but because you don't have to mash X to have it happen makes it terrible somehow?

A game who's two main characters could be completely removed from the main story CHANGING NOTHING that happened that effectively plays itself, is NOT a good game.

While I agree Vaan and Penelo suck, don't pretend the majority of many FFs isn't just mashing X so you basic attack everything to death. Boss fights still require you to pay attention, as do the occasional tough spawns out in the world.

I'd probably put Black Flag at my top for shear fun value, as I had a lot of fun playing pirate. I still think the best ship battles were in AC3 though.

One minor thing that infuriates me about Black Flag is that the community challenge rewards are unobtainable, but remain in the menu.

There's also a random sword in Unity that has this problem as well, as it came with the Season Pass.

I like Rogue because of the huge departure in story. Gave a cool look at motivation for the Templars that even though there's some truly evil people there, they've also got people who believe it's the right thing to do.
