One of my exes kept a wage barely above minimum and food assistance. He didn't really have the money to buy stuff anywhere except places like Walmart and dollar stores. I made considerably more than he did and paid the larger portion of our bills.

But he was honest, dependable, and stayed fuckable. We eventually broke up, but it took a couple years and it wasn't over money.

TopicA year after marriage - your wife is 40lbs heavier and cut her hair super short
ClockworkHare

40lbs is a lot for a woman within the average median of size, especially when she's not pregnant.

I personally think it's a bit extreme to consider something drastic like a separation just because a wife got noticeably fatter, but at the same time I feel she best not complain about her man's appearance in any way either. She loses the option of doing that without being hypocritical because she's what many modern men would consider less attractive herself (really fat). If a wife expects a husband to accept her despite changes in appearance, she's obligated to return the same courtesy.

I always cringe when I see a "body shaming" or fat activist claim their unattractive traits need to be accepted as beautiful while they also refuse to date anyone that also has such traits. They don't practice what they preach and it shows they only stand by their "principles" when it's convenient for them...

This relates to how I feel about how spouses should treat each other if they want to maintain the marriage. If one spouse is expected to show acceptance of appearance, the other needs to meet that same level of respect or their expectations are horse shit.

*head tilt*

The child either genuinely suffered a despairing life of poverty and would have a keen understanding of how to play the part. She would also have incentive to act well for a chance of stardom and a better life.

Or she's a talented liar so convincing that she's a natural for acting.
Either way it could lead to a believable performance.

The method of selection was certainly unconventional, but I also consider the potential results. It's really not much different than what the fictional Will Wonka did to lure out a suitable heir in the original movie. It's also not the first time the movie business has used unorthodox methods for choosing a cast. Child actors are no exceptions. And I suspect the other children were likely compensated in some way for auditioning. It would be crude to dangle money in front of them and then shove them out the door empty handed. I doubt that's what happened.

As long as the children were compensated for their time, I see no cruelty in how the auditions were performed. Only crafty eccentricity to find an exceptional choice.

I would remind her that I'm not down with an open relationship and ask her questions like why she wants one. Maybe things had gotten stale and she needed some change in our routine. Maybe we could find an alternative that satisfied both of us. Getting angry at her would just prompt her to go through with it anyway.

Although just bringing up the proposition is a red flag in itself, that's just how it is. They knew what they were asking for when they brought the proposition to you. They've already made some decisions in their mind to take it that far, otherwise they would have never brought it up as anything more than a joke. Generally when a partner asks you to consider an open relationship it's likely been on their mind for a while and they might pursue it privately with or without your agreement. That's just reality. Typically when someone wants their cake and eat it too...they're going to make it happen eventually.

What you need to do is plot out how you're going to proceed if your partner either doesn't forget about wanting things open or you find out they went through with it anyway behind your back. The latter is obviously going to break up a lot of couples and that's very understandable. However, some people are willing to forgive a partner once or even twice for the sake of keeping a relationship. I'm not gonna explain how that works, just know that it does. Sometimes a cheating partner can plead their case and make a sweet enough deal to be taken back. You just probably won't be as invested with them as before, naturally.

If the issue is that your partner simply won't drop wanting your relationship open: you can either roll with it, try it for a little while to see if you like it, refuse, or flat out dump them for being annoyingly obsessive about it.

Just keep in mind, when it's a woman proposing this, there's a decent chance she might just be bluffing to test your response. She might not actually want an open relationship, she just wanted to check how her man would react. Focus less on giving "the correct answer" and more on communicating with her to find out if there's a real problem she's bothered about. If she grills you about giving a wrong answer to the proposition, there's dozen smooth explanations you can use right in the conversation. You should know how to do this. As a man, you need to be practiced in how to word smart responses for defusing relationship controversies.

Fuck even gay men need to be practiced in that...

I take it you live in the US. Are you making than 30 hours per week? Or is it 30 hours per paycheck? If it's the latter, consider signing up for public assistance programs to help make ends meet. See what you qualify for.

My ex needed help with living expenses. He was holding down a part time job, paying rent living with a roommate, barely had enough left over for ghetto groceries, and no car. His position rarely gave him 20 hours on a regular basis and places just weren't hiring in his area.

I got him signed up on basic food assistance so he could save money on food and a work readiness program to help him get trained for a better job. He didn't have to pay anything so long as he signed up for finding an actual career and stuck with the programs to the end. They covered his bus fare, employment supplies, job training, and even a new bicycle to help commute until he could afford a car.

The catch is he had to have zero dependents, no police record, and be a legal citizen. You might be surprised how many people in the US get disqualified on one or even all three of those.

I don't care as long as it's legal and they're both happy.

American society, for example, picked the age of 18 as a marker for legal adulthood for a few reasons.
Some of them are:
- despite stereotypes, many 18 year olds actually do know wtf they're doing or at least understand most consequences
- 21 as a suggestive alternative is and has been determined as laughably excessive by both the courts and society
-18 was old enough to get sent to war; so restricting a young adult's sexual rights by a higher age would be hard to justify

When recognizing a young adult's rights to be sexually active, it's important to realize that options could include partners who are much older (as they have sexual rights to date anyone legal too). And as I dated my fair share of sugar daddies in my teens, I would be a hypocrite if I told other young people to never consider it rofl.

White boy thirst

Gotta admit it does take quite a thirst to both hate someone and still be admittedly attracted to them rofl.

Although as someone who's dated men for years I do understand the phenomena the girls are talking about; it's just not crystal clear based on their exact wording. It's not just that they have reason to be frustrated with white guys; it's also that guys from other races can be frustrating too. I'm sure some of these girls have at least tried to date guys from other racial groups, but it doesn't always go well. And it's not restricted to white girls. This is something that can happen for anyone dating outside of their own racial demographic.

For girls sometimes there's a culture clash trying to date guys of other races; sometimes the girl has expectations that don't really work outside of her own racial demographic. Or the girl has some stereotypical curiosities about men of other races, tries to date some, finds out the stereotypes are either too real or false, and then she goes running back to the men she's more used to.

So let me translate the gist of what's going on in these girls' messages. To some degree they like dating white guys, either as safety nets or just preference. But they don't like admitting it. There's various reasons why. The point is they still get wet for white guys and either feel guilty about it or they're pissed because they want MORE than just white guys...but they're having rotten luck finding other guys compatible. Now that doesn't mean there's no attractive minority guys out there, oh no. I personally know there are, I've banged em. But for whatever reason, these girls stink at finding any minority guys that basically treat (spoil) them like the white guys do. And they're passive aggressively cranky about it on social media rofl.

What these girls are gibbering about is basically like that song "where have all the good boys gone " (who aren't white).

Good news: that means these girls are open to dating minority guys.
Bad news: the minority guys have to be more attractive than white privilege and norms to keep them interested.

That's certainly going to affect any sentencing outside of Texas.

There's even been similar (although less common) cases of sexual assault victims forgiving male perpetrators.

Although I'm willing to guess that part of the sympathy towards this case's female perpetrator is that she's non-heterosexual, therefore a minority, and her victim is a young woman who likely pitied her.

If you really want something undoubtedly sexist to be legitimately outraged about, wait until a judge says this female sex offender doesn't have to register because she completed less than a year of rehabilitation...

It was much harder for extremists to form notable groups without having to commute all over the country to find each other. Now they have the internet to immediately get in touch with other extremists around the clock in their own neighborhoods, develop echo chambers, and concoct wanton activism over spilled milk.

Technological luxury always comes at a cost. Opening the floodgates for extreme activism is one that came with delivering messaging programs into the hands of citizens. Look up "fair ride accidents" on youtube. Chances are if you ever rode a certain ride and thought to yourself "omg this could break apart and kill me at any second ", you were actually right.

One of my favorite rides used to be The Swings.

bGvvxnq

Never mind the rather obvious structural risks involved with riding that thing (ie: a swing snapping off). I won't ride it anymore after seeing a video of 9 passengers getting crushed by the machine collapsing on them. I would feel fine riding at some place like Disney World where they do whatever to avoid bad publicity (which means more frequent maintenance). But riding one of those things in a hokey rusted up small town carnival....oh hell no. The reason some of those machines bust up is because they're showing their age. And if they don't got a TEAM of pros checking them at least every couple days, the rides are fuckin hazards. They should be scrapped after a certain point, but some owners don't prioritize safety over expense.
