I just got back on the soda train to some extent (not a crazy amount though). i drink about a 2 liter of soda a week. I also order shirley temples when I eat out again etc. I still try and drink water or tea most of the time at least.

But yeah, still love the taste of orange soda (Fanta is my favorite). I'll drink root beer sometimes as well.

I'll cut back a bit eventually on that even more, but for now I'm just saying *#$* it and enjoying myself.

Use this opportunity to work at a job you wanted to do/try that isn't too high stress or time consuming, while you keep searching for a job in your field.

Your on a video game site, so perhaps working at a video game store (There are usually many of them in most areas besides gamestop...best buy for instance etc).

I always wanted to be a waiter (I'm a social person AND your constantly walking for exercise) for instance.

Tons of things you might like (perhaps you like to cook, or want to try sales, or like pets, or rock climbing etc).

Find a job involving a favorite hobby etc. You don't need a ton of money while you look, so get a job that interests you/is fun for now.

It'll look better on your resume anyway, and you can explain that you just like to work, so wanted a short term job while looking for a job in your field. That will impress most people as it shows you like to work, and are adaptable etc.

Another good idea is to try and make friends with people who are working in your field already, so you have contacts at a few companies in case they have a position open up, that can make a world of difference (especially as you might get advanced notice on the position). In some cases you might even get hired directly without a normal interview/hiring process.

Often it's who you know at least as much as your qualifications that get you hired.

back in the day, at the strip club near my college, it was widely known (but not advertised, obvs) if you paid enough you could have sex with any of the women working.

i'd guess the same about most strip clubs, tbh, ok?

Yeah, I hate to judge people without really knowing them though, and I don't really think there is anything wrong with prostitution (I just wouldn't want to date/sleep with someone who was sleeping with tons of other people).

I think I'd avoid the entire situation though, which is pretty horrible for strippers if most guys feel that way:(

I went with I don't binge, although I used to be better.

I try and limit myself to either lasagna or pizza once a week.

And rarely eat fast food (usually arby's if I do).

But yeah, not really ensuring I eat veggies every day at this point (generally every week is more like it now).

I try and be at least semi-good but not going hard core anymore, and I started drinking soda again.

I'll just try and work out more to compensate.

Seriously they probably sat around for an hour or so, but still best nuggests I ever had. Didn't even need sauce.

Not a fan normally, but yeah, good thing there isn't a chic fi lay around here or I would be in trouble.

I don't eat them, but frozen chicken nuggets from the store are certainly cheaper.

Tysons for isntance is $4 for a 2 pound bag, without sales/discounts etc.

Shop at safeway and even without a sale on the item, you can get 20% off (if you purchase 150$ or more), or $10 off a purchase of 50$.....dropping it down to about $3 for the 2 pound bag.

Not sure how many nuggets are in 2 pounds but it's over 40......probably more like 60.

So yeah cheaper.

Also I had the nuggets from BK a few times since it was like 1.59 for 10 (and I was getting the sausage crousant for breakfast). They are ok, but I only got it about twice as it just wasn't that good. I'm picky though, and it's a great price for kids that is for sure.

Your kinda limited on weight anyway, since you could only put in things you could physically move yourself (And would fit in the bag for that matter). Even if the bag could fit human sized things in it, that is probably the limit.

That being said, if anything put in the bag becomes weightless, that is worth a ton all by itself.
If the bag with a weight limit still weighs as much as all the items, then it's not really that useful. If the items in that bag have a weight limit, but the bag is still weightless, that would be different.

If only the limited bag is weightless it's by far the better choice.

If both are weightless but you have a weight limit on one, it would depend greatly on the weight limit, and the size of items you can fit in the bags.

Imagine how much money you could save by making things weightless (or help advance space exploration etc).

Depends if I go baby smooth or not when I shave, if I just trim, then I can get a pretty decent beard going in a month. If I go for baby smooth, it takes about a week to get started again (to the trimmed level), then seems to take about the same time.

After reaching beard status (ie you can grip and pull), it slows down significantly though.

If I just keep it trimmed I just have to shave once a week pretty much. To keep it smooth I need to shave every day or other day at the most.

If this keeps up movie theaters are going to die, much like drive ins have mostly died.

At least with a drive in you had the fun/neatness of watching a movie out in the fresh air etc. I'd still actually go to them if there was one a bit closer.

I wish I was rich. I do own a 400k home that is mostly paid off, and just sold my BMW, but yeah, not a ton of money (alll savings went to medical bills).

My roomate is very not trying to take advantage of me, she does not want to accept help from me (even if she needs it) or from her other friends/relatives. She at least lets me make meals for her since I enjoy it and it doesn't cost me much more.

As for the lady from craigslist.....I don't know that she was trying to take advantage of me at all, she didn't ask for money etc, she just totally freaked me out, joked about marrying me, said she was raped by someone on craigslist and then was looking for someone on there again (and meeting me) almost right away, is Diabetic and seems to have emotional control issues. Basically not someone I want to get too involved with (But not neccesarily someone that was trying to take advantage of me either, I just don't want to get to know her enough to find out).

So rich? Not really, but I seem safe/friendly and that leads people to trust me, and others to figure they can take advantage of me sometimes. I don't mind helping people (in fact I enjoy it), but I also protect myself and help others only as much as I am willing to, and enough that it won't hurt me etc (IE use money I can't afford to lose etc).

I have enough to take care of myself, and I can ensure I always will with work etc, but I'm not willing to add someone to my life at this point who will need me to take care of them or support them. I have been there, done that, and am exhausted. Anyone I have as a part of my life is going to need to be self sufficient from now on .

Pretty much in the same boat. I'm a "homebody". Perfectly content to stay home, play video games, watch movies, etc.

But I genuinely love taking my son hiking in the woods, to the playground, museums, zoos... My favorite thing to do is take my son out somewhere, maybe get ice cream with him. When my daughter is a bit older and a stronger walker, she can join in the adventures :)

A little of both.

I have plenty of money, but it's earmarked for things. So I have to make more money that I can actually spend.

See your not really a zombie then, as you have things you still desire and want to work towards.

My impending zombiedom is mainly due to TRYING to find things I desire or want to work towards or at least desire it enough to motivate myself.

I don't need much money to survive and stay entertained, and if I don't fight it off, I could easily fall into zombie land where that Is all I do, and I don't strive for anything more/new.

It's tempting because it's so easy, but I bet if I go down that road, i'll never come back.

I might not be totally there, but I can see myself becoming a zombie if I don't fight against it.

And by zombie I mean just content to stay home, watch shows and play video games and not really care about the rest of the world, socializing etc.

I've tried dating a bit, but honestly the people out there are scary and I'm gonna take a break from that for now. I am looking for interesting/decent work, but that too is frustrating and I can just make enough money from home to pay the bills if I really want.

I have hulu/xfinity and basically an unending number of shows I can watch forever, along with enough video games to last 3 lifetimes (Already...and I'm certainly get more in the future).....so yeah, I don't need to search for entertainment. I also happen to love to read, and have books coming out just from authors I already know I like, faster then I can read them now adays anyway.

So should I just give in to zombiedom and give up on life, settle in for the steady slow decline before I eventually cease to exist?

Seems like so much work trying to build a life, get out there and socializing etc, when it's so easy to just veg at home and occasionally say "braaains" for no reason (I just said it in real life).

What keeps you from becoming a zombie?

It can be anything, but it has to be something possible (no magic, aliens, world changing events etc...something that would be possible if you tried).

So for instance, you could say you would become a famous singer, or say you would move to France, but you can't say you would become immortal or able to fly. You can say you would create a company worth millions, but you can't say you would win the lottery (not in your power to control luck).

Any three things within your power can be chosen though, even if it's hard, unlikely etc.

For me I would:

Get back into peak shape 190 pounds etc.

Find an awesome woman to share the rest of my life with, that has her life together and similar interests/sense of humor etc as me.

Find a job that I really enjoy, that doesn't take up all my time, but that pays enough that I don't have to worry about money at all.

TopicHow much do you spend in a week on food?
wolfy42
04/24/17 12:34:25 PM

If you REALLY wanted to save though..............

Gonna go with 2 meals a day as I don't like breakfasts, that being said, eggs are mega cheap, and some cereals are as well (With milk of course). You can get breakfasts for a whole week for $10 easily (potatoes are also cheap and can make hashbrowns for a week to go with your breakfasts easily for $4, you can get the 10 sausage boxes for $1 on sale most of the time (3 per breakfast...so $2), and 18 eggs for 4 (enough for 2-3 eggs per), all for less then $10.

Then lunches can be sandwiches, go with tuna fish, or ham/swiss on sale, and bread, again, whole week of variety of lunches for $10 (toss in noodle ramen which are insanely cheap and can be made many different ways as well).

That is $20 so far, and gives you 2 full meals.

If your not trying to cut carbs you can make pasta 3 times a week, for $10....and if you know how to make the sauce it'll be better then you can get eating out (so quite yummy).

Chicken is so cheap, so get chicken thighs/breasts (I prefer thighs), at $1.14 a pound (cheapest price, have to wait for it to be that low and stock up). Most often you will pay at least $1.50 a pound so we'll go with that price as the average. Three meals of chicken (prepared different ways), and a box of Rice (jasmin), along with potatoes and brocolli (the bags for $5 will last two weeks easily for 1 person). IF you eat 1 pound of checken, per meal, and count in the rice/brocolli (and potatoes already covered in the morning), that is another $20.

That is 20$ total for 6 dinners, added to the eariler $20, for a total of $40 for the weeks so far.

I say toss in another 10$ for 1 meal (steak meal, eat out etc), and finish at $50.

You could go lower, but that would give you a decent number of tasty options while not spending that much at all. What is more, if you do your shopping at the right time, you can save $10 of that cost (safeway has $10 off your order if you spend $50 or more, or 10%/15%/20% off your order is you spend 50/100/150 almost every other week). In this situation the $10 off would be better.

Since it's only 50$ though, you could have multiple safeway accounts that you use and stock up on supplies food for the $10 off one....or just stock up heavily buying 150$ worth of food when that have that special.

Either way, that would drop your cost from $50 a month to $40....while still getting you some pretty yummy food.

Upgrading from there (40$) to things like lasagna (only additional cost is the cheese, which is often on sale for $4). Steak (5$ a pound vs 1.50...so $3.50 more per meal), Cod ($5 a pound), shrimp (7$ a pound for argentieen shrimp when on sale in a frozen 2pound bag...and delicious) etc.

No real reason for anyone to spend more then around 60-70$ if they are careful and trying to conserve money.

100-140 is what I put down.

Honestly though I eat steaks all the time, and out some.

And that is making meals for 3 mainly (I cook for my roomate and her daughter and pay for it all).

If I was trying to save money?

I'd still eat steak every so often (maybe twice a week), but would still buy ribeyes on sale for $5.77 and stock up/freeze it), potatoes and brocolli etc, add a bit more but it's still under 10. I don't generally eat breakfasts, and lunch is usually pretty cheap unless I eat out (and even arbies is less then 5$.

So yeah, a not saving that much conservative number would be about $80 a week (still could eat out, and have steaks a few times, but also chicken ($1.14 on sale/frozen), pasta (Enough sauce for 3 pasta meals a week would be $10) and chineese/stir fry at least once.

I really do blow too much on food, but I have the money and I don't really need to save it anymore.....and I love food.

You must have roommates so as long as that works out stay doing that.

no, I live by myself

I bet. No such thing as 20% income for rent. Unless you are slumming.

Lol, sure there is, in some areas it can be way less then that.

For instance here in olympia you can easily get a 60k job from the gov (tons of them since it's the capital), but rooms are rented for under 400 all the time and you can get a nice one for $400 (and decent ones for that much that includes utilities and internet!).

60k even after taxes is still 4k a month or so.........so 400$ a month is 10% or less of your income.

So there are plenty of places where you spend 20% or less, just there are also plenty where 80% isn't enough for most jobs.

It DRASTICALLY matters where you live, and of course how you live.

I mean....once it's released there will probably be bundles that include it...so that means there is even LESS reason tobuy one right now (Since you'd save money waiting just a month).

if I had to pay rent there is no way I would live with my parents. hell, I'm moving out even though they don't charge me rent and they buy me food.

I mostly do it to condition myself into getting into the habit of paying for bills and expenses. I also do it to help my mom out as it's just her and I and she's going through a rough financial situation.

She's not going to get conditioned on how to live without you if you keep carrying so much of the load

She can rent out the space he's living in when he leaves, so he is just being responsible. Hopefully he can give her enough advanced warning that she can find someone she knows/trusts to move in when he leaves and it will be an easy transition. Alternatively if it's a largish home she could sell it, and then use the profit to rent/live in a smaller place without the finacial burden of a mortgage etc.

The old spend 30% or less then your income rule has gone out the window in many parts of the US at least. Even using roomates doesn't make that possible in many areas now.

Take Gilroy where I lived until a year and a half ago. Average price for a tiny 1 bedroom is 1400$ and that is bottom of the barrels. Min wage is still $10 an hour there, so a large percentage of the jobs make 400$ a week/1200$ a month or so (less after taxes, even though you don't have much at that income level).

Even if you pump it up to $15 an hour though and 1800$ a month, after taxes you still can barely afford a 1 bedroom, and even having a roomate for a 2 bedroom is gonna knock you back about $1k each a month (and that is not including utilities and other expenses).

So yeah, you end up with teachers who have a kid having to rent a room from someone because they can't afford their own place.

There are tons of places that are not that bad mind you, but still, the 30% rule is pretty much impossible depending where you live.

There was chemistry between lex and clark, just not that kind lol hehe. Although now adays even that would be a possibility (I wish I could quit you Clark!).

And yeah, the show would still be about superman, just a darker superman, and lex has always been a darker batman in a way, so you could in effect have a real batman vs superman show going on.

Also lex could end up recruiting all the others to battle/fight the more dark superman.

Could be a freaking awesome spin on the whole story to be honest, especially with the Lex from smallville as the hero/leading role. Too late now sadly, but It would have been freaking epic if they did that back in 2004 or so.

I'd really like to see smallville re-visited and redone, but with Lex as the hero, and Clark as the eventual villain that is trying to take over the world.

I'd rewrite the whole thing, splitting off pretty much at the time black kryptonite is used on clark (to break Jorels control), only in this version that does not happen.

Lex then becomes the hero that fights against evil Clark and hooks up with Lana.

Fan fiction etc, but yeah, would be awesome.

I was just kinda wondering this, not about gay men (who I imagine find other guys attractice), but men who feel like they should be a woman etc. Why don't they get together with women who want to be more masculine or manlike etc?

I could still see it working with a gay man though, have a relationship with them (family etc), while both share male partners or even have an open relationship. No reason for that not to work to be honest, and at least you would know your "guy" is going to be there for you and doesn't just want you for your body lol.

If everyone was honest about what they actually want, and didn't judge each other, I think there would be someone for everyone. Sadly that is not how it works.

We will all be at the end of our lives before we know it, everything between now and then will be gone in a blink of an eye. That being said, you might as well enjoy yourself as much as possible while your here, and help the people around you do the same.

Suffering blows, but it passes. You can get through it, and be done with it.

Joy though, happiness, just experiencing the world and finding the fun, will make time pass faster, and make you look forward to each new day and experience.

It's all how you look at things.

Yes, the world can shit on you and stuff can just keep going wrong. Everything you try can end up taking way to much time/energy/effort and seem like it's not worth it. All that can be true, or you can just say screw it, and just enjoy everything you do as much as possible, even stuff you normally don't enjoy.

Doing dishes (I hate them), sing while your doing em, or have a friend around that your chatting with etc (even just on the phone etc!).

Don't like your job? SCREW THAT......go get a new one. Your better off homeless and happy then living in a mansion and miserable. Then again, try looking at your job in a new way, challenging yourself and see if you can find a way to make it rewarding and enjoyable.

It does take effort to enjoy things, and try and look at the positives, but honestly, it makes time pass faster/easier, and it is very worth it.

Pretty much no reason to buy one right now to be honest. At least wait for xmas deals if not longer.

3ds is fine on the plane.

Bring your wii or wii U (if he doesn't have one), and just your remote if he does, to play with him once you get there.

He may have a friend with a switch already that you can all go and play with etc anyway.

But yeah, way to much money right now for too little content.

Topic2 Swords or Sword/Shield...

Blah.

Two short sticks work just fine, and short swords would as well, they are easier to hide then a shield (and if they are sticks very safe to do so), you don't even need to be ambidextrous to pull it off.

2 swords/sticks give you more options, you still have defense, just not as much as a shield (but you can also move your defense faster then most shields), but you have 2 points of attack as well, or even the ability to attack 2 different people at once.

You also have a weapon to throw in a pinch, and still have a weapon to fight with.

Depending on the shield and it's size weight etc, you will have openings/weaknesses or be slowed down. It will make your defense better, especially if your primarily focusing on it, but when fighting multiple opponents with any brains at all, it may not help as much as another weapon.

I would generally go with no shield and just one weapon to be honest, unless I had plenty of recent practice with wielding two weapons at a time, or it was a weapon meant to be used in combo. A staff is probably a better option in most cases, giving you just about as much defense (and more in some ways), more reach, and still allowing you to deal with multiple opponents fairly easy.

I've trained with the Bo in the past, but not with multiple weapons much, so yeah 1 weapon would make more sense, and if I had a light shield on the other hand that didn't slow me down, it would probably be better.

Ok, that went well.

Got a quote of 11.7k in cash or 12.5 in trade in, better then I got from enterprise. Checking through the cars they have available for trade in (want to get one for under 5k). Seems pretty good to me, and it's local (so no long drives).

Not gonna rush into it, and am going to check the trade in value of any car I think of getting (make sure I'm getting a decent deal), but I may have a new car in the near future and some extra cash woot!!

I've had girls undress in front of me (just changing clothes) and all of them wanted to date me and were trying to get me to ask them out lol.

Unless has seen you with a guy or two and really thinks your not into her (which doesn't make sense if you asked her out), she is not going to change in front of you if she isn't into you or want you to see her and want her.

Now there are some twisted chicks out there that will undress in front of a guy that they know likes them, but can't have them, because they like being desired. But you said she's nice, although I guess you might not be impartial if you have the hots for her.

Basically though, chicks don't undress in front of guys they are not interested in, unless they are pretty twisted/mean/sick and just want to torment you or boost their own self esteem.
