The beta was okay. My biggest issue with it was that it felt cluttered/things blended together. Probably carry over from having extremely distinct silhouettes in TF2. The shooting was good and movement was okay. The use of a fuel gauge as opposed to hard cooldowns for movement and some abilities appealed to me, but it's no replacement for rocket jumping.

The major problem is that they were attempting to wrestle with Blizzard. Spoilers: You're never going to win.

Dude was already a legend, now he can forever say he shot a dragon out of the sky.

songs will be written about him

I seriously hope we get a scene of him in front of Cersei going "I just saved your dumbass of a brother from a lizard the size of several houses. Gimme some castles."

Though that might have to wait depending on who fishes them out from the water.

Edit: Also I was sure Dickon was gonna get his head shorn off.

Piggybacking off of how much I hate Dany, Sansa, and Bran chapters, I also want to point out that book Jaime is #1.

This is a factual statement.

Jaime has been a top 5 character since season 2 for me. Only read the first 2 books so IDK how much he changed between mediums.

The show still carries him relatively faithfully with the "arrogant douchenozzle brought low by events both within and without his control" bit. Despite some hiccups, he got off much better than poor Stannis.

The major difference is that the show obviously can't go into his unspoken thoughts the way the books do with the limited third person schtick, so we don't get the luxury of viewing the full extent of his post-hand mental shift.

As an aside, I liked the juxtaposition of "the Unburnt" title in the standard spiel and Jon coming back from the fucking dead.

I'm disappointed that Jon hushed up Davos when he was giving his tirade because I wanted to hear "You talk about being unburnt? This man came back from the dead to fight against the dead."

I was on the higher end of things in Brood War, though still far and away from coming close to the professional players. My highest ranking on ICCup was a shortlived A- back in 2009.

In TF2 I can hang with the remaining major Invite players, though there is a disparity in aim and movement that I don't have the desire to bridge.

That begs the question of who's going to be the expendable "heroic sacrifice" mook come the final battle. Knowing the lack of subtlety in the writing that's been present, I reckon it's fairly likely that it'll come down to some moronic 2v1 situation against the Night King.
