Despite getting decent reviews, gravity-bending FPS LawBreakers is struggling to keep an active player base just days after release. It failed to launch within the top 100 games on Steam, and even Battleborn, the poster child of launch flops, had higher player numbers at this point in its life.

According to GITHYP, the final release for LawBreakers saw a whopping 60% reduction over its initial beta player count. Launch night saw only a peak of 3k players, which is pretty bad when compared to Battleborn’s 12k.

Unfortunately it doesn’t look like it was just a rough start, as since then the numbers have only gone down. Daily lows are already dropping to below 1,000 players, and the peaks are also going down as the days go by. Tuesday, the day after launch, saw a reduction of 300 people, giving a peak of only 2.7k.

Is that because the game is bad or another reason?

The game sounds good so maybe it will gain momentum as time goes on. I think the issue is just competition in this market is way too strong.

That's the problem with modern day open Beta's / Paid to Play Beta's.

Most of the hardcore audience gets burned out and moves on by launch.

They're a small studio and PS4 is the smarter choice to give priority. They'll probably port it later.

If it flopped on PC and PS4 I doubt the Xbox One will change anything. If anything that would be even worse.

I have 0 idea what this game is other than hearing that it flopped, bad marketing?

I guess so. It's an arena FPS multiplayer shooter. It doesn't really stand out much which is its biggest problem.

Yeah because prioritizing games on Xbox has worked well in the past *cough* Rise of the Tomb Raider *cough*

The beta was okay. My biggest issue with it was that it felt cluttered/things blended together. Probably carry over from having extremely distinct silhouettes in TF2. The shooting was good and movement was okay. The use of a fuel gauge as opposed to hard cooldowns for movement and some abilities appealed to me, but it's no replacement for rocket jumping.

The major problem is that they were attempting to wrestle with Blizzard. Spoilers: You're never going to win.

Game was waaaay too 90's to succeed. You need a better hook than classes and anti gravity to be successful these days.

Probably more like they're giving it one last chance with a smarter launch. Rise of the Tomb Raider being a timed exclusive did not work out well for them at all.

Not on Xbox it didn't. It was a timed Xbox 360/One exclusive that came out in November and didn't turn a profit until like January and then the PC version came out and sold well, and a year after PS4 got the 20th Anniversary Edition with a bunch of extras and it sold more. It flopped really bad when it was just on Xbox and wouldn't have even been notably profitable without PC and PS4.

Rise of the Tomb Raider sold pretty good on PC. But we have no idea if it sold better on PS4 or Xbox One. Neither really charted well. It likely would have done a helluva lot better if PS4 and Xbox One were released at the same time though. A year late port for $60 after Uncharted 4 was never gonna do all that great. Meanwhile there wasn't really any reason as to why it shouldn't have sold gangbusters on Xbox One.

It sold 1.5 million on PC
http://steamspy.com/app/391220

Apparently it tripled the Xbox One sales at launch
https://www.gamespot.com/articles/rise-of-the-tomb-raider-first-month-pc-sales-almos/1100-6435094/

No idea what happened with the PS4 version though. Wouldn't surprise me if it sold more in the long run.
