Well excuse me old master, the child was just taken away by almost total strangers from his only home and his mother, his only family, to a strange, cold metallic place, surrounded by people judging him. The only reason this changed was because of modernization which was built on these old world values like mass labor and exploitation. | Verdekal 07/03/17 7:48:37 PM #1 | Dangerous monsters that infest everywhere outside cities don't help. But I think the biggest reason is the poor logistics and lack of beasts of burden. There are no horses or cattle in Fable. Having only vegetation on farms makes sustaining a society difficult. But without horses, only humans can do manual labor so transporting things like people and goods are very difficult. Towns were separated by many miles and it could take a whole day or more of walking to get from one place to another, let alone transportation of people and goods. We see a couple carriages or caravans but they're always stationary and never told how they move around. Another thing is the lack of higher education. There is elementary school and academies for will users but no real technical higher education. Without that, there'd be no inventors or engineers to bring forth the industrial revolution which somehow happened anyway. --- Don't tease the octopus, kids! |

There's nothing bad about caring for your parents, I live with and am close to my parents. But the elderly don't become before children in my eyes. Another issue that I have is that it's not just about mom and dad but social ranking of those inferior and those superior. It's a way to breed obedience which can allow for an oppressive regime which is sort of what's happening. Workers don't have many rights in China and the government uses filial piety as an excuse for their grip. --- Don't tease the octopus, kids! |
