Dunno what post 30 or the PMs said, but the board etiquette makes it explicitly clear that "b****" is an appropriate way of writing bitch, and consequently "b-word" is fine too, since it contains less information than "b****".

Trolling

Trolling is not someone posting an opinion that differs from yours, but someone posting a message designed to get others mad enough to violate one of the other rules. Going on a board and posting "This game sucks and everybody who enjoys it is stupid" is trolling, and nothing good will come of it. Going on a board and posting "I hated this game, the controls were awful," isn't trolling, although it may not be popular opinion. Even if you disagree, you can either debate the user on their points or just ignore it.

Did you ever hear the Tragedy of Lucifer the Morningstar? Its not a story the Catholics would tell you. Its a Jewish legend. Lucifer was an Angel of the Choir so powerful and so wise he was the right hand of Yahweh. He had such a knowledge of Creation, he could even keep the ones he cared about from ignorance. He became so powerful… the only thing he was afraid of was losing his Pride, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught Adam everything he knew, then his Creator created Hell for him when he rebelled. Ironic. He could save others from Hell, but not himself.

on a serious note, kind of...does anyone know why Lucifer is called the Morningstar?

Pride. you see, Lucifer's Sin was pride 100%. here, the Choir was created from the light of Creation itself. then Yahweh ordered the Choir to serve Man, a base creature made from dirt. Lucifer was unhappy with this idea, and convinced 1/3 of the Choir to join with him in his Rebellion. of course, this ended badly as the Fallen were cast into the newly-formed Hell for all of eternity for their insolence.

that being said, Venus--Venus is the Morningstar. it rises in the morning to be the brightest thing in the sky before the Sun rises. it has the audacity and foolish pride to try and upstage the Sun. this is also why divine beings are depicted with halos to this day.

Holy crap, thanks for the story. loved it. People may not believe the bible but the lore and idea of it is pretty cool to me. I love seeing angel versus demons style games. They are all so fascinating.
Do guys realize none of this is from the bible? The story of Lucifer's rebellion against heaven comes from Milton's Paradise Lost, which was published in 1667.

On that note, the whole concept of Lucifer with a capital "L" originates from the King James translation, which was published in 1611. So the whole thing is just 17th century English invention. Although Milton's story takes a lot from the story of Iblis in the Quran, which is from the 7th century.

In addition to the archbishop posted earlier, Lucifer has been used in latin hymns as a descriptor for John the Baptist and even Jesus himself. But as someone posted, all this shouldn't matter for the naming of TC's kid, since all his peers will associate the name with a devil, even if they're wrong.

_Rinku_ posted...
Yeah.

Most "use by" and "best by" dates are overly conservative anyway. Trust your senses: does the food look and smell fresh? If so, it's probably safe to eat.
It's illegal to serve food after the "use by" date, even if it looks fine. You can eat it yourself at your own risk, but a restaurant would be shut down if they tried to give it to customers.

"Best by" is an estimate and it's fine to use stuff even after that has passed, if it's still in good condition.

ZeldaMutant

The bible describes how the different peoples in the area surrounding Israel descended from Noah's three sons.

Ham and Shem are the etymological roots of Hamitic and Semitic. Japeth's descendants lived in the direction of Europe, so he would be the forefather of the Aryans. 19th century racial scientists classified all three of those under the "Caucasian" umbrella. Asians, southern Africans, Americans, Australians etc. are not handled by the bible at all. This is only natural, as it's written from an Israel/Egypt point of view, and their knowledge of the world only reached so far.

He was ready to plea, but the bargain was 75 years. Effectively life, so trial was his only choice.

While the law hasn't changed, the system itself has. Arapahoe County's Chronic Offender Program is no longer in use. The man was very unlucky to commit a crime in the wrong County during the wrong decade.

8 years is already a reasonable sentence for 2 armed robberies. The law and justice system are in the wrong here. "8 years concurrently, 98 years consecutively" means that he was convicted on at least 13 counts. So it's some technical bullshit where if there's 7 people in the shop it counts as 7 cases of assault.

Edit: found new info. It was 8 sentences where the maximum was 16 years. The prison system interpreted it as concurrent serving -> 16 years total, and let him out on parole half way through it.

There's no need for intensive nanny-state regulation by the government. Just give people money and let them use it however they see fit. If they waste it on things they don't need, the lack of money itself will be punishment enough. If they decide to save the rest of the month to celebrate for one day, let them. If they don't feed their kids, call CPS. Trying to control what people buy will just waste time and money without helping anyone.

Do those games involve socializing over drinks with friends and strangers?
Granted, no. When it comes to just friends, getting together at someone's home to play board games or console games should both be more cost-efficient and fun. But bring a desire to socialize with strangers into the mix, and the casino might be the best environment, since it's probably the only bar-like environment where playing games is considered normal, and casino games can still be more fun than nothing. I understand now, you are right.
Is there the chance of winning money for playing them?
The costs for time at a casino might be random, sometimes even negative (= you win money) but on average you will end up spending a certain amount of money per fun/etc. gained. Doesn't really disprove your main point, though.
