Well the problem is your choices carry over to ME2 so you really need to actually play ME1

this was actually the method suggested to me back when i played for the first time because ME1 was not available on PS3. which is why it came with that comic DLC that could at least get the major choices imported. you do miss out on some interactions but ME2 still became one of my favorite games without putting myself through the experience of ME1. i did go back and play it when it was made available on PS3 though. and of course the experience is different going back and playing vs. starting with ME1 so take that as you will.

i don't actually know about the availability of the comic DLC now though so maybe you do have no other option now than to play through ME1.

like in third grade i stumbled in on a conversation about the different definitions of "fuck" and one of my friends telling everyone it was defined as "the greatest feeling you'll ever have."

i was so confused because i didn't get the concept at all or that those body parts could possibly be used for anything other than peeing (i know you don't pee from vagina don't comment that)

and then in sixth grade (yes that long after i heard it mentioned) there was talk going around about this cool site that would blow your mind in a way you had never thought about before. the kid who sat across from me printed out a full color picture of a comic page from that site and brought it to school. and when i saw that picture of Videl getting fucked it was on.

i didn't start masturbating until like way later (?) though. it had never occurred to me that i could touch my dick in that way. or that sexual pleasure was something you can do by yourself. i didn't even know what masturbating was since the only time i'd even heard of the term was during that time in school where they answer any sex related questions. some kid had asked if masturbation could make you blind and since i didn't know what was being talked about i didn't register the actual answer at all. masturbation was just something associated with blindness. and then some time later you hear that it can also cause thick fur or hair to grow on your palms. this is all the while not knowing what it actually was, only that it was associated with such things. well then why the FUCK would i want anything to do with that?

i actually started to find out what it was at a church retreat where in this group conversation it got brought up and some guys were desperately trying to say that they didn't do it. i had been looking at porn (mostly pictures and 30 second clips) this whole time but i had no idea what they were talking about since i was the youngest one there. it started getting clearer and then weeks later it clicked like "oh. you're supposed to touch your own dick."

That's such a HUGE topic (what are favorites, what is important to read) I'm not sure where to begin and end. I've personally never been too enamored or interested in certain texts but I can't deny their importance/influence. There are works that are taught are important in historical context or otherwise but I think a lot of people shy away from reading them because they are "boring" or "too old." Beowulf, Don Quixote, Canterbury Tales, Oedipus Rex, Divine Comedy, The Republic, The Art of War, Machiavelli's The Prince, The Odyssey, The Bible, etc.

There's works now that are considered pretty "entry-level" that almost everyone has read. These are relatively "easy" to understand the themes/purpose of and serve as the gateway into analysis like Animal Farm/1984, Lord of the Flies, Of Mice and Men, Fahrenheit 451, To Kill a Mockingbird, etc.

I'll list personal favorites but acknowledge that the scope covered by these is relatively limited. I'll do sort of a top ten and then list the rest. It's admittedly pretty heavily focused on prose and American lit so take that into consideration if you want.

Upon first thoughts, top ten (not in order) would be something like:
Hamlet - Shakespeare
Moby Dick - Melville
Jane Eyre - Bronte
Lolita - Nabokov
To Kill a Mockingbird - Lee
The Sound and the Fury - Faulkner
short stories of Flannery O'Connor (my favorite is "Good Country People" but others that are cited most frequently include "A Good Man is Hard to Find," "Everything That Rises Must Converge," "The Artificial Notallowedbygamefaqs," "The River," "Greenleaf" i'll just list all of them jeez.
Invisible Man - Ellison
Slaughterhouse-Five - Vonnegut
A Clockwork Orange - Burgess

Others:
The Little Prince - Saint Exupery
One Hundred Years of Solitude - Garcia Marquez
Waiting for Godot - Beckett
Lord of the Flies - Golding
The Catcher in the Rye - Salinger
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland - Carroll
The Stranger - Camus
The Great Gatsby - Fitzgerald
The Sun Also Rises - Hemingway
Macbeth, King Lear, Richard III - Shakespeare
The Heart is a Lonely Hunter - McCullers
Madame Bovary - Flaubert
Anna Karenina - Tolstoy
A Doll's House - Ibsen
Crime and Punishment - Dostoyevsky
Death of a Salesman - Miller
The Metamorphosis - Kafka
Animal Farm; 1984 - Orwell
Fahrenheit 451 - Bradbury
Huck Finn - Twain
Frankenstein - Shelley

new topic. i don't know if it's something people want to talk about at all but here goes. i guess harry potter spoilers.

remember boggarts in Harry Potter? the creature that takes the shape of your greatest fear. there's a part in Prisoner of Azkaban where Lupin has his third year class take on a boggart and it takes turns morphing into the greatest fears of several students. now there's some weak shit here because a majority of it ends up being shit like banshees, mummies and other creatures of the sort. now i know these kids are only 13 and so they might not be thinking about anything "deeper" and why their greatest fear isn't something like the well-being of their loved ones being negatively affected. but i was just wondering how would a boggart show something like that and in the middle of typing all this i just remembered that it revealed Hermione's greatest fear being a likeness of McGonagall saying she failed everything. i was going to say "does a boggart have limitations and what will it turn to in the case your greatest fear is an abstract concept"? but yeah that's answered.

anyway what i was going to get to was that i have a "dumb" fear too but also a more abstract fear. when i say "dumb" fear i guess i really mean something concrete, tangible and irrational in a sense. i just say it's dumb because it seems so relatively when people say stuff like "i fear the death of my wife and children" and i'm saying i'm scared of this creature.

but this abstract fear i have is one where i'm afraid of getting fucked i.e. being taken advantage of. i say fucked because i mean like on a big level. and like...isn't that kind of narcissistic? like even thinking i'm even in a position where i'm worth taking advantage of? i've been so willing to reveal first things that could potentially make me look like an idiot because at least then i did it and it's not somebody else making a fool out of me. i think i'm self-aware enough in situations like that. i've been trying to be more openly opinionated recently to get over this whereas before half the time i would not say anything on the chance that i could sound stupid. i used to think that my greatest fear was failure but at this point where i've failed a lot i don't know if i can say that anymore.

if you want to share this, what's your greatest fear?

in the case of my teacher i think if it was a recent development it would be more understandable but it seems weird to state something as a favorite you can't eat unless you've built it up in your head as something better than it actually was to you because of its unavailability kind of like nostalgia.

I mean ... what hard as heck ice cream you eating? my tongue can penetrate the ice cream and push "scoops" of it into my mouth. is that not how most people eat ice cream? breaking it apart with their mouths/lips rather than biting with their teeth?

i mean i don't eat ice cream too regularly but i would always start that way and then eventually take a bite after like 3 licks. the amount of ice cream that went into my mouth with my tongue was about the same amount you could get on one of those small sample spoons.

when i was in elementary school, wednesday was the best day if you were buying lunch from the school because that was McDonald's day. which meant that instead of rubber pizza or subpar chicken nuggets you got a half-decent patty between two buns with a single pickle and ketchup. everyone including me always took the pickle out.

now that i think about it i don't really mind pickles anymore but i never really hated them as much as avocados or anything.
