Myzz what books do you read? to properly address this question, just going to come out and say that i've read everything done by ayn rand and unironically love it. its fiction in the style of being an independent person and of having the fundamental attitude that life can great and what you really want in life can be attainable if you stick true to your values and always work towards it---don't let others change you or bring you down. outside her books, of fiction and non-fiction, i haven't read much else. i've read all the harry potter books back in middle school and high school. they were good for my age. watership down is a book i read that stands the test of time and i will always think fondly of. i read the guardians of ga'hoole series, 9 books out of 16, they started strong but waned to just being okay. i've read of mice and men and liked the book overall for its creativity in spite of its negative themes. then there's pony fanfictions that i could practically classify as books as they read just as long that i really liked. on my dresser besides me i have classical books such as moby dick and the hunchback of notre dame and lord of the rings and walden and crime and punishment and other books of that type that i expect to read, enjoy, and learn more on how to write effectively and beautifully. i like the everlasting appeal books like this can have to generations across decades (although i don't think i would like super old works like Shakespeare or have any interest in reading that and learning from it). the latest modern book i read, years ago, was john green's The Fault in Our Stars and i couldn't finish it. im not opposed to casual scenarios and jokes, the book was strong at the beginning, but it lost my interest typical to the modern writing style of irreverence, contrived awkwardness and clumsy handling of its characters. books like that become indistinguishable from the b rated sitcom stories on day time television. also have an inherent interest in war and history, philosophy and religion. i would read plenty of non-fiction about these subjects. i have read 2 or so nonfiction books on these subjects a couple years back. --- |

| myzz7 04/09/17 11:13:41 AM #1 | out of choice and not because your water heater sucks i knew some guys at my local dojo take them saying it increased mental toughness, "was good for the soul" and gave them more energy and cleared out their head from anxiety or procrastination tendencies. what would be done is set your water temperature to lukewarm settings, take care of your washing and soaping stuff, then crank the cold dial overtime to see what you can take. throw in some deep breathing, meditative thinking, and come out when you had enough. tried it out myself and i think it does help. --- |
