Basically, it sounds like you're mad that the article spent about 25% of it on the facts and the other 75% on speculation/theorycrafting. But, again... "Trump may pardon family" isn't news, so... Not sure why it's a big deal?

If your issue is that people aren't going "Oh no he may try to pardon Kushner/Ivanka/etc.," that's because... That's not news. We've discussed that possibility dozens of times before. Of course he'd try to pardon his family/etc. That's not new.

What's interesting is the thought that he may try to pardon himself if it came to it. And thus, that's what was discussed.

Yes, that is all it's saying. The rest, with it discussing Trump pardoning himself, if it's possible, etc... Is basically fluff. Those are the main points of the article.

You're just, for some reason, throwing a fit over the fact that it's going "So, theoretically, what if Trump did want to pardon himself?"

Why do you keep saying "Theoretical" means that there's nothing there. Theoretical just means that nothing is happening right now, because he'd have no reason to pardon yet. Theoretical doesn't mean "He isn't even thinking about it."

because in this context (see: not science), 'theoretical' basically just means there could be something that and there could not be something there. you don't have anything grounding you so it's not much, if at all, different than pulling it out of your ass.

So then wouldn't you be saying "there's nothing there" ALSO be pulling it out of your ass?

Literally all the article is saying is:

1. Trump brought up the subject of how far his pardon powers can go
2. He's not currently going "I'm pardoning myself right now yes yes yes!"
3. Current discussions are theoretical

What that's basically suggesting is that the talks are currently "In the event of blank, could I blank?"

There is literally nothing suggesting that he could not be going "In the event of blank, could I pardon myself?"

You are the one trying to say that's impossible, based on... Nothing but your gut of what Trump is like.

Currently, the discussions of pardoning authority by Trump’s legal team are purely theoretical, according to two people familiar with the ongoing conversations. But if Trump pardoned himself in the face of the ongoing Mueller investigation,

there is nothing else to work with here. unless you think that there are other people who said that this was taken seriously, although the WaPo never mentioned that and instead just pointed out people telling them that there's nothing really here on this subject.

Why do you keep saying "Theoretical" means that there's nothing there. Theoretical just means that nothing is happening right now, because he'd have no reason to pardon yet. Theoretical doesn't mean "He isn't even thinking about it."

Do you think it's saying "discussions are theoretically happening?" Because it's not. It's saying that what they are discussing is theoretical.

Definitely disagree. Why would it make a point of saying "People" and "person" both above and below, but then "close adviser" in the middle? It's using "people" and "person" to be ambiguous on the person's identity/role, whereas "close adviser" is pretty specific.

The people leaked it.
The people say it's currently theoretical.
The close adviser says nothing is there.

Like, if it was the same people... Why would they feel the need to say it was all currently theoretical if "There's nothing there?"

Trump has asked his advisers about his power to pardon aides, family members and even himself in connection with the probe, according to one of those people. A second person said Trump’s lawyers have been discussing the president’s pardoning powers among themselves.

Trump’s legal team declined to comment on the issue. But one adviser said the president has simply expressed a curiosity in understanding the reach of his pardoning authority, as well as the limits of Mueller’s investigation.

Yeah, the info didn't come from the adviser that said he's just trying to get an understanding. That's who commented when they reached out for more. Otherwise it wouldn't be presented like that.

It's admittedly hard to tell because no names are used but I don't think this is true. I think it's two people gave them info, then WaPo reached out for comment and got responses from aides (not the legal team they asked first, though).

Also, this. The way it's being reported doesn't suggest they initially got the info from the aides. It sounds like they got the info, then reached out to the aides for comment.

I mean, you can argue the aides don't think he's thinking about it, and I wouldn't argue it.

But given the timing, you're not going to convince me the thought of pardoning himself isn't on Trump's mind, and that's atleast part of what caused him asking about it, even if he didn't admit it.

Wang, you don't seem to get the disconnect, here. The disconnect isn't what the article says.

The disconnect is that people are reading between the lines and, rightfully so, wondering "Why is he asking about the extent of his pardoning powers" and saying it looks bad, given the timing.

While you're just sitting there refusing to read between the lines and going "Trump's aides say he's just curious and isn't thinking about pardoning himself, so he's just curious and not thinking about pardoning himself."

You're basically giving Trump the benefit of the doubt when he hasn't really done anything to deserve it. The rest of us aren't so willing to do that, and thus this just raises more questions to us.

where'd you get that? i literally said that the issue of the presidential pardon should be posed to Kushner as that's a far more accurate take. i've made it pretty damn clear that's why i think Trump is asking. how is any of that "innocent?"

who can he pardon, what can he pardon, what limits are there to pardoning - each of these questions ultimately gets you back to the president pardoning himself as a limit. impeachment is generally considered something to do with presidents so even if you just say the specific words, the immediate followup will be asking if the president can pardon himself. that's part of why it's just a non-starter. it doesn't work as a story because that's just normal conversation about it.

I'm referring to you saying that him asking if he can pardon himself isn't alarming.

The only way it isn't is if you just assume he's doing so innocently like some child in a museum

Okay so after reading this, the tweet is clickbait. The headline is accurate, Trump's lawyer outright admits that they want to limit Mueller's scope and even cites a specific instance of 2008 finances being looked into. That's all valid and good. As is Trump's team trying to give him the boot, certainly very newsworthy.

But the idea of him pardoning himself? That they came up with. This is even in the same article:

One adviser said the president has simply expressed a curiosity in understanding the reach of his pardoning authority, as well as the limits of Mueller’s investigation.

“This is not in the context of, ‘I can’t wait to pardon myself,’ ” a close adviser said.

Which makes it clear that if you just lead with "TRUMP TALKING ABOUT PARDONING HIMSELF" you're being dishonest and just throwing bait out there for clicks. It's basically using Twitter as a second, clickbait headline that wouldn't pass the standards. This is a guy who has no idea what he of Mueller can do so of course he's asking questions. That's not much of a news story, that's a non-starter of a line. The good parts in the article are related to Mueller but the focus on pardoning himself is rubbish. If you're going to talk about the power, addressing how it can be used against Kushner and what that would entail is a far more honest route to take.

The fact that he's even trying to understand IF he can pardon himself is pretty alarming. Like, given the timing, you can't even pretend it was just an innocent "The president is trying to understand his power more."

So... I just encountered a pretty big problem with this game.

Apparently the stages you create are tied to the specific device you are using to create the stage with until you publish it.

I'm home atm and bummed that the 3rd stage I was working on is not select-able on the build page since I built most of it on my work laptop. >_>

Bummer... I guess I'll just have to get to work on my fire stage (4th) then.

I wonder if they are aware of this? Is there a feedback ticket somewhere?

While I dunno how this works in particular since I haven't played it yet, doesn't this make sense? In theory, it wouldn't be uploading it until you published it, so...

To be fair, they're not really ridiculous "what-if" scenarios. They're based on things that have either already happened or have been attempted. Like, when they talk about things like providers throttling customers' service to provide paid "fast lanes," that's something that has pretty much already happened.

Well I mean, all I'm trying to say is that the narrative that people are going to do terrible awful things once this legislation is gone does not hold much weight with me when that legislation did not exist for 95% of the internet's lifetime, and no terrible things were done with it then (to my knowledge, which I fully admit is rather limited).

...Do you think the legislation just came about for no reason at all? >_>

I mean obviously there's a reason no matter how you spin it. That reason doesn't have to be a specific incident though, and even in the case that it is a specific incident.

Like, in the absence of other information one could easily imagine regulations being made as a preventative rather than reactionary measure, or it could be made in response to some minor imbalance of power rather than in response to cable companies trying to crush consumers like ants beneath their feet, or something.

To clarify, I do support net neutrality. What I don't agree with is the alarmist way the issue is framed by many people on the internet, which I perceive as dishonest.

I guess overall, my stance is basically... If you're advancing on a cop with a loaded gun, and you've refused multiple times to put it down, then you're basically forfeiting your right to not be shot, since that's the best thing they can do to protect themselves and anybody else in the area. I don't really think it matters if you're pointing the gun at yourself, or if you're drunk... You're escalating the situation to a level of uncertainty that can't really be prepared for.

Obviously, some will disagree with that, which is understandable. But I don't think it's a stance worth being looked down upon for.

Possibly, yes. But cops have better aim, for one, and they're less likely to hit somebody else in the room.

Granted, the only people in the room were the two cops, the negotiator, and her (and maybe the boyfriend? I don't think we really know, but she did request to talk to him)... But at that point, the cops need to protect themselves.

I feel like Gable just found out that Jordan isn't coming back from the store with that milk, after all

Maybe they can be a team again if the Angels win the pennant

I hope there's a twist that the info was just "One of American Alpha is your son." And they just made the assumption it was Jordan. But it turns out that it's actually Gable.

And Angle's like "..........Oh. I have no son."

once again no purple ropes!

the rest of the building is still purple though. they're still definitely saying "check it out guys, these aren't like the rest of our competitors". maybe they just haven't wanted to spend time changing the ring itself.

Like I said, baby steps!

Maybe next week, the lighting will be mauve instead of purple!

OR... Or... What if the cruiserweights are like velociraptors, and they're using the purple because it's the only way to get them to fight in the right place so they don't go attack the crowd

Heels are often right it's the presentation and what you do that matters. Being right about Enzo being a jackass doesn't mean it's justified to beat his ass while pretending to be his friend.

Oh, I'm not saying Cass is justified

I'm just saying Enzo's not being face in this situation, either.

Tonight, he called Cass out to come fight him... And then ran away when he did and sat in the crowd to watch Big Show fight him for him.

Also, how is Enzo the face, here

Cass turns on him because he's sick of Enzo being somebody who runs his mouth and has a big guy do his fighting

So Enzo responds by... Running his mouth and having a big guy do his fighting against Cass

Like, this is just proving Cass right!

Well, that post is disturbing on so many levels.

I think you might be overreacting a bit

Can verify. 80 seems fairly normal

Well, I slightly agree with him in that it's kinda frightening that 80 has become the norm
