Idle Wizard is the evolutionary apex of the idle game trend that hearkens back to Progress Quest. I never knew an idle game could have so much depth. Though there are optional timed challenges that will require more than "2nd monitor" attention they account for a small fraction of what you'll be doing playing the game.

I was looking for much the same thing as you in a game TC and stumbled upon it. Grinding out certain achievements while crafting and gathering or just leveling crafting/gathering in general in FFXIV scratches much of the same itch.

I thought I got an email about it and then wondered where it was. Then I realized I would need to leave old.reddit.com to use it nah I'm good

FFXIV but it's starting to loop back to just sheer quantity of worldbuilding over quality with recent plot developments. It used to be both.

Still, there is a lot of thought put into it and the Encyclopedia Eorzea volumes are some of the best lorebooks ever.

Probably. I can live frugally off of 5% earnings and even re-invest a portion of that. It's enough to pay my bills, groceries, and I wouldn't have a commute. Of course, it would mean probably delaying a family indefinitely and no traveling abroad. I would probably still look at ways to generate income without a job until I was successful at it.

This. There's 3 other superbosses that are weaker than him (in the base game, I haven't played any new versions), and they should really be challenged after you get to the end of the last world with Sephiroth being the last thing you fight before going on to beat the game

Only haven't beaten 3, 6, 11, 15, and 16.

I haven't played in many years now but I too hate the idea of all the crossovers. Looking down at the battlefield and seeing transformers, hobbits, dinosaurs, and Japanese virtual idols all together just seems like a unimmersive mess.

I tried it. Long story short. Don't get it for the base PS4. I am a patient person but way too long loading in and out of battles. I thought that was going to just be a Switch problem.

Otherwise I was into the story + characters enough for the hour and a half of gameplay I did play. Maybe I'll try again tmw or try it on Steam someday.

Oh really? I ordered both a PS4 and PS5 version. I was going to play the PS4 one and keep the PS5 version sealed. Maybe I'll switch gears though if that's the case...

After FFVII JRPG devs decided that the genre's competitive advantage was flashy visuals. I didn't mind the "filler" when I was young. It was impressive and my mentality to passtimes is completely the opposite of what it is now; instead of needing things to "respect my time", it was better if it filled up the gaping black holes of boredom I had back then as much as possible.

I pledged to the KS, they didn't send me my copy yet. I still need to 100% Rising. I think I'll try to tomorrow. I did all the sidequests, I'm trying to get all the craftable stuff unlocked from every shop for the hell of it.

Junk food used to be awesome when I was younger, but yes currently one binge session completely screws with my mood. I never got my "appetite spoiled" as a kid. I would still be hungry for a meal after eating garbage, but now I get full off of snacks and it's a complete waste.

I swear it used to be in the thousands on the regular when I first started using this site.
