They believe it is necessary and have all accepted Yuna's choice. Tidus is going to make a big deal of it and force Yuna to confront and make the choice again, and they know she will, and that is just unnecessary pain for Yuna. Not to mention its just painful for them to talk about and think about. Is keeping Tidus in the dark mean and unfair to him? Yes.
