Hard disagree, there are a bunch of budget and mid ones just like in the US.

There's a couple ones based in Iceland like Play which are basically Spirit, but I do recommend them. They're so cheap and still good enough. The layover in Iceland makes it so each leg of the flight is pretty reasonable if you're not used to long flights. You can pick a flight with an extra long layover if you want. Iceland has a deal where you can even have a 2-day layover so you can explore Iceland for a bit.

If you want comfort in the airport, get a priority pass credit card so you can go to a lounge. It makes a huge difference. Some of them have little sleeping rooms, or big enough chairs that you can take a nap. You can also totally sleep at the gates but it's not super comfortable. You likely don't need to sleep anyway since it's around 10 hours from east coast to europe.

Positive in Israel, India, Nigeria, Kenya. Near even split in Hungary. Negative everywhere else. Which is with some very generous phrasing as well.

Anything above 35 is pretty high relatively, so that aligns with what I was thinking. Forgot about India, that's a good one. Surprised Brazil is only 34 there though. Nigeria is insanely high though, how is that even possible.

Obviously there's more to the world than the US and the UK. I would barely even call a British person a foreigner.

Most everyone would agree. But the weird thing is that's what VS does, and people are afraid of it, while BP is literally doing the same puzzle way more than 3 times, and everyone is cool with it.

It's not, but it's the difference between the time to solve and the time to execute. You figure it in like 5 seconds, it's fun 2-3 times, and then you spend an hour tediously repeating the exact same puzzle 30+ times. It's true repetition, moreso than anything in VS.

I get why people like it, but I don't get why so many more people like BP, and those same players are afraid of VS because of perceived repetition.

It does just come down to the appeal of sokoban itself. If you're willing to do 10 sokoban puzzles, then you should play VS because you will almost definitely enjoy the 500+ it gives you. But even 10 sokobans is too much for most people.

These are pretty drastically different. Blue Prince is more akin to a detective game, and the developer's stated intention was to have puzzles that you could work on while not playing the game. Void Stranger is more akin to black box testing, where the input/output seems straightforward at first until you start testing specific cases and breaking things.

I don't see a difference in practice. They both require playing the game to execute your hypothesis or gather data. Like you can deduce a sequence of events that require moving some water with the pump room to unlock something. But the real challenge is actually drawing a pump room and boiler room and connecting them, which requires hours of grind well after you've solved the logic side of the puzzle. Or the paintings puzzle - super easy solution, difficult to draw all 45 rooms (fortunately you don't need to). In fact BP is probably the puzzle game that's least solvable without playing, since it takes hours to physically execute a solution.

With VS you can totally come up with an idea and a route in your head, and then execute it in the game in 15ish minutes. That's what makes it so addictive after the initial playthrough. The puzzles have the same solution every time, so you technically only need to solve them once. It sounds obvious but VS is the only sokoban I've seen take advantage of that to make the game way more than just puzzles.

Haven't watched the video since I'm somewhat interested in the game, but from what little I know this definitely sounds like a heavy note taking kind of game. Been playing Blue Prince over the last little while which is also a heavy note taker and yeah I would absolutely never want to play it on console without instant and easy access to word docs, screenshots and photo editing.

It's SO much better balanced in note taking than Blue Prince. It's like 10x more dense, requires way fewer notes, and is designed to let you focus deeply on a puzzle until its completion, then move on to the next. It's amazing to me that people are willing to spend 50 hours grinding BP just to solve like 10 cool puzzles, when you could beat the entirety of VS in that time, which is like 600 puzzles and 20 meta puzzles.

It's at least dozens, hell maybe even hundreds if the discord is anything to go by! But I admit that I know no one who it's appealed to as much as me, even the headiest of my indie dev friends.

I don't really get it though. So many people love the mind-blowing stuff in Undertale or DDLC or whatever. But the games with the most of that stuff are puzzle games recently, especially sokobans. Everyone should try Monster's Expedition, Baba Is You, Void Stranger, which in increasing order of complexity all have mind blowing moments. It's just pure fun.

We're actually primed for this because the biggest RPG series from Japan is now Souls, which is distinctly not a JRPG. And all the latest classic JRPGs have been western weaboos copying Chrono Trigger and FFX. So it's basically already happened.
