This is why its ridiculous to assert that Harris in any way has this in the bag. This is a wild election cycle, and anything can happen. NASDAQ down 5%? Not great! Remains to be seen how well this information lands with the electorate but you can obviously bet the Trump campaign is going to drop the blame squarely at Harris door somehow.

People need to remember the Nasdaq is mainly tech stocks and the tech companies have been stupidly pursuing AI with no idea of how to turn a profit off it (in fact google and openai are like actively sabotaging those efforts)

Its a necessary return to common sense.

The boarder should be their strongest talking point, but it's such an easy out. Sure they can talk about the boarder in their own bubble, but if he actually gets on a debate stage it's gonna be instant fucking poison.

The border isnt even about the border and the biden admin reneged super hard on their promise to be border liberals and trumpeting the fact that you did that just to score an "a hah" probably isnt wise.

That was actually landing with people back when it happened, can't hurt to remind them of it if the subject comes back up. You have plenty of clips from Republicans saying the same too - that it was the most conservative immigration bill ever, etc.

I mean, yes, it was a bad bill because of how fucking draconian it was but unfortunately people want that because of all the misinformation on immigration out there so as a campaign tool it would play.

Any move they make on immigrations a loser.

Biden admins #1 broken campaign promise is that theyd be border liberals and waving around that bill to no avail is just reminding people that you stabbed immigrants in the back for no reason.

Personally, I think forcing Biden out and replacing him with Harris is all a conspiracy by the rich elites to give us a weak Democratic candidate so that Trump wins and he'll catch all the blame when the economy collapses.

I mean I am not conspiracy-minded but this was absolutely a literal example of the party elites completely cutting the voters out of the process to coronate the a top contender for the worst candidate from the 2020 primary.

As someone who was not sold on this being winning strategy, particularly before it happened, past poor performance in a presidential bid is indicative of absolutely nothing. Besides Obama, the last president who didn't fumble a previous primary I think was Carter.

She was put into the ground by a fuckin welterweight man. Its not like she ran and simply didnt gain traction like Jay Inslee. She ran and got humiliated due to her exceptionally poor skills as a campaigner.

She ran for veep at a time where basically no campaigning was needed (and if not for a fly completely stealing the show, her poor performance vs pence wouldve been more of a thing) so its not like that helped.

There is basically no evidence to suggest she can pull this off other than "yay she isnt 80 years old"

My hot take is that the read that this plays into "Dems in Disarray" is completely wrong. If anything it's the opposite. The stereotype is that Dems are wishy-washy wimps that can't make a decision, but to most people this is going to read as Dems making a decisive, ballsy decision. And it's a decision that poll after poll after poll has shown that the vast majority of voters *wanted* Democrats to make. Kamala Harris might end up being an awful nominee, so it might have been a mistake on that level, but on a narrative/momentum level, I don't see how this doesn't benefit Democrats.

Because youre giving up the advantage of incumbency in favor of someone who was so bad at running for president that Tulsi Gabbard put her into the ground.
