Characters like Sithe not getting enough room to breathe is a big reason why I just can't consider GAA2 one of my favorite games in the series.

Yeah I'm ruling Calisto Yew out for the same reason. Must have some low rankings so she's definitely got boosters if she made it this high

Had to go with some characters who nobody dislikes but don't really have a lot of superfans

My logic is that if Maria Gorey made it this high she must have boosters lol. Not really a high floor low ceiling kind of character

It's tough, though. I can rule out about 30 of those immediately, but the last 20 are basically impossible to sift through. Here's what I think the potential options are:

Maria Gorey probably should be a possibility but there's gonna be someone who just loves her

Losing Marlon Rimes RIGHT before the top 50 is painful. My new 2nd-highest ranked character over Verity and behind Damien. Really hoping the correct 5-DLC character comes out on top, because there went #2.

I think it's really funny that we both share strong opinions about Marlon and Damian being really good, they're my top two characters out (6 and 7, my top 5 is intact)

I counted Ema as a PT character (because I think she would be in the top 50 on 1-5 alone) and Gregory as a AAI character (because he WOULDN'T be in the top 50 on 1-4 alone), just felt right, everyone else is unambiguous which series they belong to

ok also gregory edgeworth being this high is kinda weird. hes another important char in an early case and his characterization is fine I guess but like i find it hard to rate a char that high you spend 0 time with

i dont think you need to have phoenix or edgeworth #1...thats the stupidest thing ive ever heard, I already said my #1 is dahlia...but I do think they need to reach a base level of relevance idk viola is cool and I ranked her decently high but she just isnt present or important enough to the overall plot it just seems weird to me

I'm going to disagree, I think it's fine if Viola is someone's favorite character. The list doesn't have to be 'objective', there's no rule stating you have to like Phoenix or Edgeworth more

I do think it's funny that the overall ranking for Jezaille Brett (66) is higher than my personal ranking (82), I figured I'd be on the higher end for her! She's cool but she's just a tutorial villain

I had Bonny at 8 (but the highest was 6) and I had Barnham at 34 (but the highest was 33)

I put Cammy Meele on the same level as someone like Bronco Knight, just a really fun and tricky opponent who's fun to take down

I was the #7 for Damian Tenma, I love that guy. Extremely underrated character, my fave defendant, he's just a blast whenever he's on screen in 5-2

I'm extremely surprised Morgan has not dropped yet, she's a cool idea for a character but she just doesn't get enough screentime and I find her really disappointing

So it hasn't been touched on as much because there were much much worse things coming out of the BBB, but one thing that is probably worth mentioning is the change to the deductibility gambling losses.

Currently if you are a professional gambler, or really anyone who keeps diligent records of your wins and losses you can deduct 100% of your losses from your gambling winnings, so you will only pay taxes on any overall gambling profit that you have. Someone with $250,000 in gambling winnings and $200,000 in gambling losses would therefore report net gambling winnings of $50,000 and only pay taxes on that portion. Someone who breaks or has an overall gambling loss on the year wouldn't have to pay any taxes on the gambling income.

Enter the BBB. Now people will only be allowed to deduct 90% of their losses which is very clearly and obviously an incorrect way to approach that. In the scenario above you would only be able to deduct $180,000 of the losses resulting in paying tax on $70,000 of "winnings" despite only netting $50,000. Or even worse if you have the same $250,000 in winnings with $250,000 in losses, you would only be able to deduct $225,000 and have to pay taxes on "profit" that you did not even end up keeping.

I can't even imagine who is behind this provision. Surely not Vegas interests? Yeah it will make it impossible for professional black jack players to profit, but it will also discourage/eliminate professional poker players. It might not dissuade your average slot machine player or casino casual who is just in town to blow money and keep track of none of it, but it's crippling to the idea that you can win money in gambling which will certainly turn off more than just the professionals. At the very least it will encourage professionals to partake in unregulated games that aren't documented if they intend to continue to make money that way.

There is already a Bill being proposed to fix this issue, but who knows if it will find traction. Mostly I'm just having a really difficult time understanding who this change was for.
