Basically, beauty standards were so skewed that what we see as beauty was actually seen as ugly and repulsive in that world, and the surgery that the main character tried to get to "beautify" themselves failed when they came out looking like a regular, attractive by our standards person.

However, as the Z portion of the series went on, they started being phased out, to the point where they were practically nonexistent in Super, with the exception of those a part of the main group's circle (Oolong and Puar, particularly).

| Solar_Crimson 05/04/24 6:29:58 PM #1 | They had a comic crossover in the 90's, and I think there was another one in the 2000's, but since then, Marvel has come under the ownership of Disney, and the MCU has blown up tremendously. Disney is also infamously hard to work with, and from what I understand, they don't get along well with Warner Bros. (DC's owner), either. Plus, Warner Bros. now has its own issues with Zaslav fucking everything up to appease the shareholders.
