yeah I caught the failed update earlier and started a rerun

That's what I figured, thanks for the confirmation! It must be a paypal thing since that's the only thing I have connected to you on my email. I'll PM you what I got so you can see if you might get what was going on. Also, I think polls might not be updating anymore either? It seems a little weird right now.

I disagree. Aggression is also an innate part of being human, but I think some level of repression is good for society as a whole. Even though sometimes I wish I could just punch a problem into submission.
That's where stuff like stress relief dolls, punching bags, and video games come in. That's the thing that certain people right now are targeting on the sexual side. Obviously people aren't referring to jerking off or doing other disruptive perverted thing in public.

I recall it being a thing around 2013-2015, during the height of Tumblr and the whole Gamergate stuff. And I think the blue hair stuff was used to refer to vocal social progressives (or Tumblr feminists/sjws as they were called iirc) was because as much as they were stereotyped for criticizing nerd culture like video games and anime they mostly were still big fans of it themselves, ironically bigger fans than what the Andrew Tate "sigma male" dudebros would eventually become.

No, but one thing has nothing to do with the other and one is much easier to handle than the other. The pardon power is completely different than legislation.

Having to go through thousands of individuals is still a lot and things slip through the crack regardless. And technically the process here was completely fair for all involved and fits the whole justice is blind motto. It's just that this guy personally is horrible enough that it's hard to stomach.

And Tiktok could still be subject to regulations but we didn't have that.

Yes, and in lieu of tht, TikTok could've just sold. It is ruinously unhealthy and a bad actor politically. I'll take the incomplete win on that.

You think TikTok still existing, just now a puppet for Trump's far right fascism is better than what it was before?

Almost like TikTok's actions keep reaffirming why it's deserved.

You realize it is entirely within the power of the people giving the pardons to vet these, right? That this was completely and utterly avoidable?

And the state of America's prison system has shown that nonviolent offenses being decreased is needed.

It is also entirely possible for Congress to pass regulations for social media and the whole TIktok shenanigans was completely and utterly avoidable.

TikTok was given a chance to sell. If you want to argue that every social media app should be divested from their owners and given to nonpartisan regulatory boards, I'd be in favor of that. Gladly. Would much rather Zuckerberg and Musk don't have any say

But we don't have that so you're in favor of the banning. It'd be nice if the court systems were better too but since we don't have that a blanket pardon for nonviolent offenses even with a few awful people is still a good thing.

So yourr position isblnket pardons with zero vetting to the category is a good thing?

I think this is shitty. Morally and optically.

Much better than blanket banning an entire app instead of more detailed regulations for it as well as every other app that does the same thing. The thing with this pardon is that if drug sentences were lower in the first place they'd be out already anyway. This isn't a problem with the pardon, the problem is with the sentencing of murder.

Sometimes, legislating for the sake of legislating public health is good, yes.
In which case, pardoning for the sake of the moral that non-violent offenders shouldn't be prosecuted so harshly is good.

In any case, you were saying this was about your personal morals instead of optics and now you've swapped it.

At the end of the day, all people think is "This person was let out of prison." The nitty gritty on pardon vs. commutation doesn't seem very relevant to them

And at the end of the day all people care about is "what administration took down the social media app we use" yet you were still very gung-ho that banning tiktok was a good idea.

There was supposedly nothing wrong with commuting the sentence of nonviolent first time offenders out on the CARES Act, but then we saw a number of people it actually affected. Blanket clemency as shown to be a very bad idea and should be vetted far more closely

No, this is an issue with the justice systems itself and should've impacted the system rather than whining about what president pardoned it. Of course, we know the type of people who would rather whine about presidents rather than the actual system.

No, I quite think this is awful from a moral standard nd an optical one and it's not helping the "Dems are soft on crime" persona

And you're being emotional and short-sighted. There's nothing wrong with hitting a blanket drug pardon here. The problem was the fact that the guy only got 20 years for aiding a murder in the first place and them a weird loophole where drugs carry a longer sentence than murder. That's not on Biden. Ironically, the only problem here would be an optical one but you're the only one I've seen that brought this up since there's way worse things to worry about.
