Ok story beated last night and slept on it. Good shit, I was a bit worried 3.4 would be too hard to follow but they kept things rolling pretty well

Cerydra The first time this game has not completely fumbled the "ambigiously amoral woman" character, and all it took was making waifu Julius Caesar. That alone warrants a thumbs-up, but I also like her role in the meta-plotline too about being in control of the algorithm that governs the simulation. Very clever way to integrate the storylines. Personality wise I think the anime noblewoman is usually played out to me, but it does hit this time. She is hypercompetent and backs up her words, she is brutal and does evil things for the greater good, but most importantly the story calls attention to it instead of handwaving them away. So it works!

Hysilens I'm less positive on her because I think she is the much more awkward inclusion and it felt like a stretch to justify her focus to the degree of getting an entire map and things like that. But I am a sucker for the 'noble knight pledged in allegiance to ambitious sovereign" trope. I could really do without the constant fish references though, it's giving Feferi I'm sorry

Lygus The real highlight of the patch imo, I love this dude. Just a magnificently charismatic villain who does not even need to be threatening to be effective. I love his overwrought speeches, crazy backstory, and the voice actor is killing it. Love the back and forth with Herta and Screwellum too. Wanting to destroy the Erudition because he created a machine that limits human knowledge is actually a really compelling one. I'm just pleasantly surprised all around! I hope to see a lot more of this guy in the future.

I think the only real downside is the pacing is definitely more awkward than recent patches have been, just due to trying to focus on the two new characters in addition to the plot. But it's a lot better than I was expecting actually

There's a semi-F2P solution but it's kind of annoying. If you have The Story's Next Page from the gacha, it has high base HP and gives HP% and healing bonus, it's actually better than the Herta cone on Hyacine but you need really good speed substats to make up for it. Then you can put Herta cone on March. The MOC cone also seems...fine...? Evernight actually uses the crit damage and it has a team buff, -200 base hp is rough though.

Very true! I was assuming he's free because a sustain is a pretty hard sell, but Hyacine apparently sold pretty well! It's basicallly only Lingsha who sold like trash. His current kit is definitely not Hyacine level, but he's no Lingsha either. Kind of Aventurine 2, who was also very popular.

Also seeing a lot of debate about Cyrene due to March. Right now the squad looks like Cas/March/Tribbie/Hyacine. Cyrene would need a lot of buffs to replace Tribbie for the 4x memosprite team but it could happen? Kind of wild to think about.

Do you know how weird it feels to be skipping 3 new character banners in a row in this game? This has not happened to me since launch when I lost 50/50 on Ellen and then saved up for all the Calydon characters. Only patch I didnt a new 5* was the one with SAnby, and I still tried pulling her.

But also I'm getting 100k scores in DA so it's not like I need to pull. I appreciate this game being so chill compared to other hoyo games that practically put a gun to your head to make you pull but like. hello??? what am I supposed to be doing here lmao

Gio has now edited the article many times since it was originally posted. It was originally WAY less clear the reader was still up at all and tons of people came away with that takeaway (look at any social media chatter and it's not hard to judge that based on reactions), the article now explicitly clarifies the reader is not down nor did the DMCA issued ever require it to be.

You bring up that the creative team has been hostile to Gio, but the flip side of that is that it was because Gio's articles and aggressive conduct directly or indirectly caused the staff to get death threats and harrassment which is happening again right now. I don't think either of them are angels, here. But if you refuse to believe anything anyone who has actual experience on the project says then there's no conversation to be had.

As for the licensing deals, you should read the second article, which came out after the first. In short, Hussie never distanced himself from Homestuck like he claimed, and hes been involved in every decision despite claiming he wasnt. Every single thing Homestuck has done in recent years has had him at the core, even when he had people like James Roach take the fall for it.

This is ridiculous conspiracy brain and the second article being bogus is exactly what the other creators are calling bullshit on. Seriously, the issue is that the creator of Homestuck is still tangentially involved with Homestuck and people work with them in a professional capacity? Come the fuck on and listen to yourself.

A bunch of the creatives still involved in the semi-official Homestuck creator network have already come out and said that large parts of it are, specifically the parts about Hussie using the licensing deals to nefariously take over their projects. The part about Hussie trying to cut Gio out of the collection I might somewhat believe, but it's definitely not the entire story because Gio is a known shit-stirrer and both they and Hussie are clearly still harboring grudges.

Genshin has never stopped pumping out 4*s. They released 7 in the past year. Some of them were even good!

It's hard to stress how much worse the 4*s are than the 5*s. The reason Sampo is the best of them is because his dot multiplier is slightly stronger than Kafka's and he also has a built-in detonate on his E at high eidolons, which happens to synergize with all the 5*s. Lil Gui's dot multiplier is on par with Kafka's, but the thing is that's barely anything. Black Swan and Hysilens's dots are like 2-3x stronger than Kafka's, each, and they have way more self-buffs built into their kits.

Kafka's an insane driver now but needs someone else with way more damage than she has. It's basically like pulling a support with no DPS. The 4*s might be good enough to do something when DOT is being turbo boosted but idk.

Not having Black Swan is...fine? although she's still her next best teammate. But without Kafka she's basically useless for endgame.

Who are you using on the phys weak boss if you're using Jane on Pompey? If you pulled Yuzuha you can put her with Jane there and use Evelyn/Caesar for Fire. And whatever other buffers you have for them like Seth and Lucy or whatever. Not sure if Burnice is an improvement for either since 2nd boss resists fire.

Orphie was always off-field but I have no idea what's going on with Seed. She wants to be played with two Attackers and buffs both but takes up most of the field time so it's really only Orphie that works with her? They removed her aftershocks? Idk I'm not following it super close but sounds like a mess.

Archer is apparently really good for this MoC skill buff, but no idea how he plays without Sparkle. I have been hearing a lot of THerta players struggling without Anaxa or eidolons.

Very easy 36 star with DoT/Phainon on MoC 12. And Hysliens isn't even out yet! So this is what it's like to get turbo shilled.

Anaxa is a "sub-dps" who also turned out to be one of the best carries in the game so it's not too unreasonable to hope for a repeat

He's allegedly supposed to be good for Phainon, and will wear the new SP set so presumably Archer as well. I'm guessing he'll have less sustain than max shield Aventurine but more damage? And some sort of team targeting abilities to give Phainon stacks? I'm very curious how they'll set the two apart.

Personally I would highly advise against Kafka if you're gonna skip Hysliens and if you don't have Black Swan. She is now basically an amplifier for those two that steals their dps for herself. DOT is a package deal now.

I've invested so much in dot that Hysliens is mandatory for me but it's Cerydra that's fucking everything up. I could wait for her to rerun but getting Hyacine for Castorice has been the best pulling decision I've made in this game so I've learned my lesson about skipping tailor-made supports...
