Yeah, "competency tests" have been done in America before as already pointed out and overturned for the very obvious reasons they were used. Now days they've moved onto "voter ID laws" as their new form of tests because it's something that SOUNDS reasonable when you just frame it very vaguely, but there is a reason they are almost always pushed by right wingers and almost always thrown out by courts for the very same reasons as competency tests were.

For real. It made me almost a bit uncomfortable with how "real" it was. Not only in how there was nothing super natural but also with the dude grooming the one kid to come back to the place with him felt very real. Like, kudos to the writers and actors for it, but man. lol
