4 outages in 8 days...

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) In the last couple of days, a neighborhood in Franklin has experienced several power outages, but they havent been caused by trees or equipment failure.

Middle Tennessee Electric (MTE) said snakes are causing the outages.

For the last eight days, the Henpeck Substation in Franklin has experienced four power outages caused by snakes.

One of the managers I have talked to said he has been on the job for 20 years and probably had two [snakes] that he can remember, and weve had four in eight days, MTE Communications and Marketing Director Larry Rose explained.

Rose told News 2 the snakes have been climbing structures supporting transformers and switches.

He said they are traveling from one energized wire to another, getting past wildlife guards, and causing outages to nearby neighborhoods.

An MTE employee said they primarily see nonvenomous gray rat snakes, known for their climbing ability.

Weve been putting down three different snake repellants that so far have not been effective, Rose said. We have wildlife guards on them to prevent birds, to prevent other animals from reaching the energized lines.

The cause of the snakes collecting at the Henpeck Substation is still unknown.

MTE sent an email on Friday to customers near the substation, explaining the scenario and what they are doing to prevent the snakes.

The email called the outages unprecedented.

We are in the process of reaching out to licensed wildlife control experts and even the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency to see if they might have some suggestions about it, Rose said.

Rose added that they are doing everything possible to eliminate snakes and maintain power in nearby neighborhoods, but for now, he said they sprinkle the snake repellant daily, check the power lines, and throw any snakes in the area back into the woods.

The new Planet of the Apes is looking crazy

Nintendo has acquired Shiver Entertainment, the company just announced.

While Shiver worked on Scribblenauts Showdown, its largely known for its porting work. The studio previously helped to bring Scribblenauts Mega Pack, Mortal Kombat 1, Mortal Kombat 11, and Hogwarts Legacy to Switch.

Nintendo is making the acquisition from Embracer. Embracer previously picked up Shiver at the end of 2021.

Despite Nintendos acquisition, it seems that Shivers role wont see significant change. The Big N says it aims to secure high-level resources for porting and developing software titles.

Nintendo Co., Ltd. (HQ: Kyoto, Japan, President and Representative Director: Shuntaro Furukawa; hereinafter Nintendo) hereby announces that it has entered into an agreement with Embracer Group AB (HQ: Karlstad, Sweden, CEO: Lars Wingefors) to acquire 100% of the outstanding shares of Shiver Entertainment, Inc. (HQ: Miami, Florida, U.S; CEO: John Schappert; hereinafter Shiver) and to make it a wholly owned subsidiary (the Acquisition).

1. Purpose of Acquisition

Shiver is a video game development company that develops software for multiple platforms including Nintendo Switch. Since its establishment in 2012, Shiver has partnered with publishers and developers through commissions for large scale title developments, and recently, has worked on porting and developing software titles such as Hogwarts Legacy and Mortal Kombat 1.

Nintendo will acquire 100% of the outstanding shares of Shiver and make it a wholly owned subsidiary. By welcoming Shivers experienced and accomplished development team, Nintendo aims to secure high-level resources for porting and developing software titles. Going forward, even after it becomes a part of the Nintendo group, Shivers focus will remain the same, continuing commissions that port and develop software for multiple platforms including Nintendo Switch.

The Acquisition will be completed pending satisfaction of all relevant customary closing conditions.

Todays news comes as a surprise, especially given Nintendos hesitancy when it comes to studio acquisitions. The company last acquired Luigis Mansion developer Next Level Games at the start of 2021, though that was done mainly since Next Level Games started exploring potential sale transactions.

In the wake of the studios closure, all of Redfalls major content plans have naturally been scrapped. This means that Redfall will receive no further content or non-critical updates after Update 4, and its planned roadmap will not go ahead. RUGGLES, Ohio Ohio city leaders decided to solve a property dispute with a resident by cutting a building in half.

The city constructed a storage building for equipment, but part of the structure was on Brett Galloway's property, WJW reported.

Galloway has been working with city leaders since January but discussions ended without a deal. Instead, city leaders decided to cut the building in half and installed a chain-link fence.

"It is pretty much the most ridiculous thing ever," Galloway told WJW. "I don't know who would think this is a good idea. I can't use my property and they lost a building."

Officials plan to tear down the portion built on city land. They are unable to demolish the other section because Galloway would not let them on the property, WJW reported.
