I'm not a fan of Scum Mayor/Scum Doublevoter. Scum Mayor kinda falls in the "Never penalize town on a scum lynch" and I think doublevoter, kinda like mayor, driver, prosty, is 99.9% of the time a town role.

What was the vote-buyer's conditions?

I was going by strength of role, and how did I forget janitor? Put that… either directly ahead or behind assassin.

As far as the mechanic goes I would say Assassin is the # 2 most powerful ability.

1. Roleblocker
2. Assassin
3. Janitor

Eh, scanner's set the rest of your scumgame up potentially, and I'd rather have the potential to save scummate(s) than assassin kill, IMO. (Can make you look good if bussing, and number purposes.)

I do not believe that the Assassin role is what causes Town to lose. I think Chris just wants to live past Night 1 more frequently. Mafia teams tend to win solely on the docile nature of the players they leave alive.

And with an extra unblockable kill they get to an all docile game quicker. I am not going to disagree with you, but unless you offer some solution to the docile nature of players than it is useless to point it out. I am looking for solutions not statements.

Let's put this in a "common scum power role power rankings" format, if you will.

1. Roleblocker
2. Detective (Basically 1a., which is why I have learned that you can't give scum a multi-use of both. You give one, then one jack use of the other, max.)
3. Untargetable

Here's where it becomes more YMMV, but I'm leaning

4. Scum Tracker
5. Godfather
6. BP
7. Mafia Doc (okay, it's not that common)
8. Jack (depending on abilities)
9. Assassin (basically, it's the most powerful of the one-use powers)
10. Revenger (stronger than Mafia Vig because you can't roleblock the dead)
11. Mafia Vig
12. Bomb (less powerful of the extra killing roles because of the limited selection)
13. Strongman (It's not an extra kill.)
14. Silencer (although if you use it you will probably get kicked in the nuts, hard)
15. Paralyzer (Useful only at lylo)

This is a rough copy and certainly up for debate (and I'm probably missing stuff), but maybe it'll help out on this "Is assassin too powerful" topic.

Wow, 2-8-1. And those two were the ones I replaced in as scum: Classical (where I immediately died and then Chris did that thing) and LotR (where we only won because Mana didn't post and didn't get replaced).

Mafia Jack: Detective, Doc, Frame/Scan Reversal, Paralyze

Independent Vengeful Unfinished Masterpiece: SK that naturally scans inno, if previous night's kill is successful, may steal night actions/abilities of that successful target to use the next night in addition to the kill (up to 3 times). (Cannot gain extra kills this way, although stealing assassin would make the kill unblockable. If stealing mafia's powers, scans guilty.)

Town Jack: Scan, Save, Block, Kill
Town Vig: 1 shot

The top two suspensions have already been talked about with said players and accepted. Reduction in penalty subject to Chris approval.

Incidentally, and take my ignorance of the situation into account, I think more people than just Chris should have say in suspensions. We're still not an authoritarian state, last I checked. What about Red, Boko, etc.? Mafia Council of Elders?

- Plum, a scum member, was recruited into the masonry and died.
- Ulti posted the playerlist and ranted about the game on the mason board just because Spiral and maybe someone else asked him for the playerlist. He claimed to have posted knowing plum could see but said that he didn't think it mattered since he trusted plum not to say anything.
- plum saw, taunted Ulti a bit, then told Boko (who was his scum buddy still in the game) that there was an SK. I dunno about the rest of the details about that.
- Ulti modkilled plum over this and replaced Boko.

Uh, where's SBell/XIII/FD's guilt in this?

He thinks the smartest mafia players aren't necessarily the smartest in real life. I fully disagree with him, for obvious reasons. Not just me, but I'm pretty sure Luis, XIII, Lopen, Drak, FFD, etc etc etc etc etc (yeah I'm including 13, bite me) can do whatever the hell they want in real life.

I certainly agree to the converse, but there's certainly a kind of sharp wit in order to excel at mafia. I don't really think you can be a mafia savant, at the least because you need to be able to cobble a coherent thought together.

Okay, I'll admit I just scanned this whole desirability index/best player thing, and I'll say it's probably not perfect (it rarely if ever is) but it looks interesting, and I'll look further into it when I'm not lazy. But I guess if you think it's so crappy make your own.

As for critiques, I think it could weigh in time of death, maybe that would play a role--obviously someone who dies N1 won't have as big of an impact on the game as someone who dies N7.

So glad it was picked up. Big River, I haven't heard the whole show and I've never seen it but what I know of it I enjoy.

You can take the Mafia Topic Title as a precursor to my Broadway Game which I am finishing up.

It's fun, thought the violin book's certainly got its moments. The overture is basically a three-page fiddle solo.

I'm hoping that's a summer game so I can play!

Also, I can't believe it took this long, and I did have to double-take myself, because I knew I'd heard the quote from somewhere, but ^5 on the Pippin reference there SBell. MLB Hall of Fame'll be 25 and I'll be able to host it in the summer, preferably during Induction Weekend in July. I'd love to have someone double-check my setup before I officially queue it though (preferably a baseball fan to help eliminate flavormeta that I might have accidentally put in).

Hey, Violin Concerto Mafia was a good game and I balanced it well (hosted it, meh… didn't want to modkill people) <_<

Rookie: Yeah, I'd say Dumey.

Player I put in the Boardy topic, gave it to Chris on merits of VC.

Improved: Dunno, haven't read up enough.

GotY: Violin Concerto aside (<_<) I found Chris' game to be fun until he kinda slacked off on the end-of-day flavor (though IIRC he wasn't there), and I found God of War to be a really fun game. Though crazy (Three Jacks/Mason Jacks?)

HotY: Kinda want to put a vote for Dumey and Peaf with '80s SMC, which was a good game until the crazy. Then I thought "But we didn't think it was balanced at all." However from what I read in Bible Mafia (which is more than what I can say about the Bible, reading it) Plum ran a pretty tight ship, even though there was Scum Prosty.

Disappointment/Failure of the year: Blade fakeclaiming Britten, and no players other than Chris noticing it. I mean, I literally facepalmed. Or Atma going crazy and ruining '80s SMC. Or Rev getting a pregame modkill.
