I would agree with this if both games were on the same system, but they are not only on different systems but not even on the same companies systems. Going from GBA to PS2 is not really replacing the original IMO, more or less expanding it to a new player base. Yea it "supposedly" makes everything better than the original but it's geared towards a different crowd of people.

Re: CoM is the one I played through so I'm REAL happy I didn't play the original GBA one since it was most likely worse.

I also would never discount an original because a remake for it exists. Sometimes remakes(or revisions if you will) are necessary to actually make it worth playing, but that doesn't mean we can't count the original as it's own creation.

My only real complaint with Chain of Memories is the environments. It's not bad enough that they were bland boxes that made me want to fall asleep, the kicker is that you needed to get specific, random drop cards to advance through doors to even more bland boxes.

If I ignore that, I actually really liked the game.

Well for me, maybe it's the fact that I went right into Chain of Memories after finishing KH1 but I hated playing through CoM and only did so for storyline purposes.....only to find out that there was little point in playing through it even for that.

I actually liked 358/2 Days, though it's no where near as good as KH 1 and 2 were.

If I count mainlline Pokemon vs Kingdom Hearts for this, it becomes harder. It really comes down to what you think of the two worst games in the franchises, that of course being Ruby Sapphire and 358/2 days. Neither is a bad game, but where I would have KH as good there, I have Pokemon RS as merely mediocre. Very playable, but honestly, nothing at all to write home about.

358/2 days was clearly no masterpiece, but how could you consider that the worst KH game when we have Chain of Memories?

I did specify "some".

Really though, if there's a sticker on the insert it's an instant no buy for me and I'm sure for a lot of other people so I have no idea why they thought it was a good idea to begin with. Same thing goes for game stores that think it's a good idea to put their sticker on game discs.

In my opinion, the problem wasn't that the Host was user-created. The problem was that the Host had extremely vague reality hax. The way it was presented and argued in-contest was "He can do whatever he wants, especially if it's funny." He would've been a troublesome entrant regardless of source.

I was referring to both user created entrants, but nonetheless I agree with you. The reason I specify "user-created" is because it was the user created entrants that were the problem this time. While I'm sure users of the board could come up with some perfectly fair characters, I think it would just be best to not use anything the board has made because more often than not it will probably be something extremely vague or overpowered in order to make sure it gets in and does well.

The problem with that is that you'll get multiple omnipotent characters that have no weakness thus it will just turn into a popularity contest.

You need to keep limitations on who/what is allowed in to keep the contest interesting and enjoyable.

I use to really enjoy MPFC contests, but letting a board 8 created character in was the worst idea possible and ruined most of the contest.
