Sweet Soul Brother is indeed an original and I can totally slot Funky Dealer in. Where do they go though? I'm not budging on The Concept of Love, everything else is up for debate.

If Sweet Soul Brother is allowed (I thought it was from the first game?), it should definitely go in. Awesome song. Personally I'd replace Rock It On or the Medley, but that's just my personal tastes.

There's a remix of it:

Still a good idea to put it in? If so it should probably take the slot of Jet Set Medley Future. Not sure if it has the oomph to beat a fifth round track.

need more supports for Radiant Historia and Fate/stay night
=|

More like needs more supports for SoRR. We have a lack of chiptunes and SoRR does some of the best with a couple nice improvements!

Let's see...of the OSTs I've nommed, the following are unsafe:

-SoRR
-Contra: Hard Corps
-Jet Set Radio Future
-Unreal Tournament

I'm obviously biased, but I think these all have good arguments for earning a slot. Most of the OSTs favor orchestral and traditional sounds heavily - we have a dearth of more modern or rougher compositions. The latter three soundtracks can fix that a little, while SoRR is like a greatest hits of some of the best chiptunes ever and it would be a crime to not get some Yuzo Koshiro in this thing.

oh so its a revoting thing or are the people who are voting who voted in other topic votes stay the same?

and I think Smith's blows are more than anything Lelouch has encountered. final fight basically

to be frank I think they are really moving way faster (since as stated there have been after image feats before this fight and Smith is top tier at this point)

Neo basically realizes at the end he isn't going to defeat Smith the conventional way. Everytime he smashes Smith he just gets back up more pissed off.

Lelouch Showings:

-GANON1025 has scans. We will use those.

Smith showings:

-Precognitive due to absorbing The Oracle, at least in the short term.
-Tremendous dodging skills: in general, if it's a projectile and isn't extraordinarily large, it can be assumed that an Agent is capable of dodging it.
-Super-speedy flight, which generates sonic booms and is powerful enough to draw cars, window glasses, and lampposts in its wake to create a vortex of scrap.
-Assimilation, which transforms the enemy into a clone, seems to be unblockable, though interpretations may vary.
-A cross-counter punch between Neo and Smith generated a large enough shockwave to stop the rain from falling
-The Super Burly Brawl, Smith's final battle with Neo. Gives an idea of his abilities:

(7) Agent Smith
external image
From The Matrix, Agent Smith is an AI programmed to maintain order and punish disorder in the fictional reality of the Matrix. Though he first appears very business-like and focused on pragmatism, Smith becomes significantly more individualistic than other Agents, exhibiting emotions such as sadism, rage, and sense of purpose.

Smith has the ability to overtake any virtual human body in the Matrix. He can manipulate the Matrix to grant himself speed and strength beyond the capabilities of other humans; he can dodge bullets, punch through concrete, and jump large distances, and exhibits limited combat precognition. Smith’s weapon of choice is a Desert Eagle handgun.

The Rules:

-Matches will last exactly 24 hours. Votes after that much time has elapsed will not be counted, even if a new topic hasn't gone up yet.
-This is a contest to determine which character is the most *powerful*. Vote only for the character you think would win in a fight, not the one who's funnier, cooler, or sexier. If you don't do that I can't count your vote.
-BOLD YOUR VOTE. Unbolded votes will NOT be counted.
-Rallying is allowed. Alts are not.
-Fights will take place in a neutral terrain. This does not necessarily mean a *featureless* terrain: assume that both characters will have a chance to use all of their skills to the fullest here, barring setting-specific abilities and anything that requires the presence of multiple enemies (but see below).
-Characters start the fight alone. They don't bring allies with them, like Kerrigan and the Zerg Swarm for instance. Summons are allowed though, provided they're brought once combat has started.
-Fighters retain their usual personalities. They won't fight to kill unless that's their MO, and won't spam their best attacks to win unless, again, that's how they act in their original media.
-Similarly, fighters are unaware of their opponents capabilities at the start of the fight unless their powers facilitate them information (like knowing all there is to know in the universe - this would include who the opponent is and what he can do, as well as weaknesses)
-You don't have to justify your vote, but it helps. If you feel like you can add something to the debate, go right ahead!
-Seriously, BOLD THE VOTE. So important it bears repeating.
-Bracket Link, for viewing past results and future matches:
http://www.bracketmaker.com/tmenu.cfm?&tid=408528&tclass=

Past Results:
A low-scoring match gives us the first tie of the tournament, as neither NoN Lelouch nor Agent Smith are able to emerge victorious! Who will advance to Round 2 to face the Anti Spiral? Let's find out! Votals: 6-6 (So far)

(2) NoN Lelouch
external image
From Code Geass: Nightmare of Nunally, Lelouch is a brilliant strategist who leads a rebellion against the Britannian Empire. Lelouch's special Geass ability gives him access to an suit of armor that enhances all of his natural physical abilities to the point of allowing him to dodge and fight giant robots. He has access to the special DOM system to disable any electronic devices or vehicles surrounding him, as well as strong telekinesis, able to stop attacks like an array of projectiles 360 degrees around him traveling faster than the speed of sound.

Lelouch's armor grants him amazing defenses, protecting him from attacks ranging from being punched by giant robots to being shot by an array of weapons (from hand guns to giant lasers) to no effect. Lelouch can even shrug off the pseudo-magical Geass abilities that are used against him. The armor's cape can act as an additional shield and can be used as a weapon as well. Lelouch can summon his robot, Gawain, at any time. This robot is the same as the one seen in Code Geass, armed with a wide variety of laser attacks and capable of flight.

Matrix 3 is just way above that I think here is the scene of Neo KOing smith in the first I think

You might be thinking about either the Super Burly Brawl or the Morpheus/Smith scene in Matrix 1. Probably one of those two or the clone match.

Alright, ladies and gentlemen, I hope you can UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND / UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND / UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT OF SUPPORT

Nomination: Jet Set Radio Future
1) Jet Set Medley Future:
2) Aisle 10:
3) Oldies But Happies:
4) That's Enough (BB Rights Mix):
5) Rock It On (D. S. Remix):
6) The Concept of Love:
Alt: Sneakman (Toronto Remix):

Other choices: Like It Like This Like That, Rockin' The Mic (The Latch Bros Remix), Funky Dealer, I Love Love You (Love Love Super Dimension mix), Birthday Cake (xfd no, not elligible either, but we need to see this in a contest to watch it score a perfect 0 on X-stats), Statement of Intent, The Scrappy (Original version). Some of these songs are made by real bands, but I was careful to check that all of the ones I mentioned were elligible, with the iffiest one AFAICT being The Scrappy Original, since the album version is 40 seconds longer. Should I slot any of these in? Statement of Intent, The Scrappy and the first three have lots of potential IMO, but we have to pick something to take out.

PS: And yes, I know I put the ending theme as the first pick, but I wanted to save The Concept of Love for facing off against stronger tracks and the medley mashes lots of good stuff so it should be safe.

Chrono Cross is a steaming pile for a variety of reasons:

- Battle system is clunky and terrible. The whole "stamina" thing is absolutely pointless. Then you have certain enemies which require either a lot of luck, or knowledge of what's coming up to prepare elements and crap. I challenge anyone to tell me they beat Miguel on their first playthrough without using a guide.

As for your other points, you need to look at FATE, there is no series story (or rather it isn't what you think it is), the Lynx portion is important because it fleshes out one of the sides of the conflict, and the last thing you used as a criticism is a plot point.

What the heck are you even talking about?

There's this particular missable conversation in FH where Squall pretty much begins to have second thoughts about the way he's being a jerk, which paves the way for his actions down the line. You miss it and the Disk 3 stuff begins to look very jarring. That's the most obvious example, but there's a ton everywhere - FF8 is a game that requires like 95% exploration because so many important scenes don't happen if you just rush through the plot.

I see.

And that's not even comparable to noticing Squall's characterization, for the record.

Fisherman's Horizon. Argument invalid.

I don't mind looking at outside sources for supplemental information, but I shouldn't need it to understand the story.

But you don't need it. What you do need is three different saves at specific key points to contrast and compare some things. Which is more involved than the usual, but hey, people always miss Squall's characterization from talking to NPCs and you don't rag on FF8 for forcing you to go out of your way to fully get the main character!

You don't even need the compendium, except for the supplemental confirmations. It's all in the game, it just requires seeing through the seemingly contradictory dates it gives you, which make perfect sense in time.

(OK, so technically having the theory of Time Traveller's Immunity in mind helps, but it's not a requirement either. Everything else is pretty secondary.)

-the battle system is not good

-presumably if they had focused on fewer characters those fewer characters would've each been developed more than having a stupid accent. you can't fit too many major character development plot points into the main story because you can't count on the player having a specific character with them at that point. at their very best, some characters get the FFT treatment where they're quite prominent and developing until they join your party, at which point they become accent overlay files.

-the way the final boss works is pretty silly. strategy guide bait, and there's no tradeoff where it makes it more fun or anything. it's just a going through the motions process that makes the player jump through an unfun hoop just to see the ending of the game.

-a plot that nearly collapses on itself and causes a temporal disturbance based on it's incoherency. somewhere you leave the realm of "thought provoking for 14 year olds" and enter into "just making stuff up as you go."

those are all valid reasons to dislike the game in my mind. I think it's one of the better RPGs on the PSX, but the games that are better than it are a lot better. It's not in the same ballpark as games like FF7-9 and Tactics, or Suikoden II.

The plot is actually not incoherent at all, and I mean it. I had this argument before and I even typed up a summary off the top of my head that made perfect sense in spite of being in anachronic order. The first complaint is sorta valid and so is the second one though.

OK, maybe Greco kinda sucked, accentwise, as did Leah. I stand by the rest though.

Just gonna throw this out there:

Did anyone actually like those horrible accents half the characters used? (I'm looking at you, freaky dog-thing and annoying boat kid who did not believe in pants)

Poshul was fine, Macha and Orcha were fine in spite of using the *exact* same accent as Korcha and the rest were all totally OK. In general what made Korcha unlikeable was his personality and uselessness, not his accent.

OK, yeah, I admit the Hiatustuck counts as a drought. I meant when the normal update schedule is on.

Well, the reason I'm asking about ripping is because I have the emulated audio on my computer and can convert it all to MP3 in a really short timeframe. So if that's more convenient for you, I can just do that and send it to you, and you can let me know if it sounds okay (I think that's the reason you're uploading them yourself).

'oh'

Yeah, if that's the case that'd be totally fine. Whatever ends up being less inconvenient for you is fine by me!

I've stopped reading Homestuck since July because I couldn't stand the droughts.

Waiting on updates was just becoming too painful.

But it updates practically daily and sometimes multiple times a day. How could you experience a drought?
