Basically everything since roughly Bound For Glory, so the Roode heel turn and title reign, Storm vs. Angle, Aries's reign, etc.

Before that he had never been head booker anywhere but he was a long-time WWE creative member. As an on-screen character you may remember him as Brother Love.

I like how TNA ended its final show before the PPV by having the world champion tap out clean to a 50 year old man who isn't even on the active roster.

That 50 year-old man was World Champion as recently as early August! <_<

From: Wanglicious | #271
is dave lagana any good in that role?

Well there's a lot of conflicting reports coming in about this. All we know FOR SURE is that Vince Russo is not there, and Dave Lagana is, and is writing the pre-taped promos for the PPV. As of now, all that it is safe to assume is that Russo is gone and that Lagana is in good standing to replace him, but there's no evidence to say that Bruce Pritchard is out as head of creative.

As to whether or not Lagana would be good in that role, he was the head booker of the ECW brand from January 2007 until January 2008, so how much did you enjoy the Lashley/Morrison/Punk eras on that show?

According to loldirtsheets, TNA creative has been shaken up again.

Since sometime last fall, Russo had been demoted to just a contributor and Bruce Pritchard has been head of creative.

Supposedly as of tonight's PPV, Russo is off the team entirely, Pritchard is down to contributor, and Dave Lagana has taken over as head of creative, on the heels of his success as the creative head of Ring Ka King.

TNA making moves!

Regardless of how they are recorded, almost all of them are "sweetened" in post. And the writers and actors still work to the audience. It's disruptive and unnatural, as far as I'm concerned.

That would be the logical setup, sure, but there's also a chance they do Strong vs. Elgin leading to an Elgin face turn. A little too soon but possible.

Strong already has a TV Title shot in the bag, so after he doesn't win the World Title on Night 1 they might just go ahead and say their Night 2 match is his TV Title match, sure.

Lethal might not be the TV Champion by then though. Tommaso Ciampa has a TV Title shot incoming too, and the 10th Anniversary Show seems like the perfect time for it, and he still has an undefeated streak going.

Unrelated ROH Topic featuring SLIGHT FUTURE TV SHOW SPOILERS

This whole "Blind Destiny" deal for the WM Weekend Shows is pretty interesting.

1.) 3 guys qualify for the concept on the TV show (SPOILERS the qualifiers are Lethal, Elgin, and Steen)

2.) On Night 1 of the WM Weekend Shows, the World Title will be defended: Davey Richards (c) vs. Roderick Strong vs. Eddie Edwards.

3.) Each of the Blind Destiny qualifiers will be randomly "assigned" to one of those three guys and scheduled to face him on Night 2.

4.) Whoever walks out of the Three Way with the title will defend it on Night Two against their randomly chosen Blind Destiny opponent.

Now on some level this seems needlessly complicated...but I think it's actually easier to visualize than it is to write down.

And whoa boy, whenever they inevitably reveal that Steen drew Davey (because you know he will), the tension in the company on Night One will be off the charts.

Jericho would just have to err on the side of "I see right through you, Punk. You're not in this to be a revolutionary. You're just in it for yourself! And if ANYONE knows about manipulating the fans for self-glorification, it's me!" and then proceed to rattle off a few random Jericho catchphrases for the crowd to sing along to which proves his point.

I forget what column I read this in, but someone I read recently brought up a great idea that if you wanted to do something interesting with Punk again, you could totally do a program where someone calls him out for manipulating the WWE Universe to get what he wanted and not following through on any of his "campaign promises" as it were.

When you boil it down and simplify it, back in July all he was REALLY in outrage against was that HE wasn't the center of the WWE Universe, and for all his threats about destroying the company by taking the title and running to prove a point, by coming back 8 days later and then turning into just another catchphrase-spouting merch machine with a sense of entitlement about his place at the top of the card, he reveals his true intentions--self-glorification.

He manipulated the anti-Cena fanbase and capitalized on that wave of backlash into stardom.

The problem of course is that you CAN'T do that angle now because they NEED Punk to be a strong babyface at the top of the card.

Orton still does those crappy clotheslines, although Bryan seemingly figured out a way to make them look better by going into the back bump a little earlier and letting Orton's arm's momentum flow over him instead of slapping him down awkwardly mid-run.

At the very least, Orton seems to have abandoned that god-awful Thesz Press that even Kelly Kelly was doing better than he did.

Honestly, if I had to pick the most influential sitcoms of the past, say, 15 years, it would definitely be The Office, Sex and the City, Arrested Development and Always Sunny. Each one definitely has/had a definite impact on what we watch now, for better or worse.

Don't forget Malcolm in the Middle, which really kickstarted the whole shift away from the four-camera/laughtrack traditional sitcom style.

It's not just the awesome spots that he's integrated into his arsenal though. He understood how to do the chain wrestling sequence with Bryan seamlessly, he sold like a champ for Bryan's offense, and they both made every move count in ways that maximized the importance of the few big spots they did do.

It's very reminiscent structurally of Christian's work, to be honest.

Subtle note about Bryan's promo that I haven't seen anyone else pick up on:

"I am a GREAT WRESTLER!"

One of face Daniel Bryan's traits was modesty. He always shot down the notion that he was a great wrestler. On multiple occasions I recall him referring to his opponents as great wrestlers, while he himself is a good wrestler who will one day be a great wrestler.

And now he actually comes out and says he's great.

I appreciate that, Daniel Bryan.

Jesus Christ.

I know John Cena has pulled this "I hate Randy Orton for reals" thing when they feuded before, but I mean most of this sounds like ADR legit feels that way.

Well you have to imagine that Miz got a LOT of backlash over the years for not being a "real athlete" and just parlaying his reality TV stardom into a wrestling career.

And then ADR comes along when Miz is already established and just sees a guy at the top who in his mind doesn't deserve it and completely missed out on the years of Miz paying his dues.

ADR comes from a rich lucha heritage and is a legit MMA fighter. He's probably got a lot of that old school mindset in him that most people are over by now that just doesn't like Miz because he's not legitimately threatening and probably would lose a real fight to most men in the locker room. Kinda like how Batista felt about him. <_<

so what's up with that completely random x-division jobber match on ppv?

It's for #1 contendership.

Which scares me in a way if you stick to basic face-heel philosophy, since Aries vs. Sorensen is a dead feud that's been done, which leaves Shelley vs. Zema Ion as the logical fresh new matchup for next month.

Now don't get me wrong, I think those two would do great work together both on the mic and in the ring, I just selfishly don't want Aries to drop the title until after he breaks the record for longest reign (which would just mean passing the next PPV with the title).

The Abyss thing is kinda funny in a classic TNA sense too.

Abyss wins the match (and thus seemingly the feud), and then later on in the show we see him and Bully fighting their way out of the arena, and then even later we see Bully coming back with blood on his hands, and when asked what happened to Abyss, he completely denies having any knowledge about what the question is even about.

And now here we are 5 weeks later and still no Abyss.

Nice work Sting, letting an employee go missing for over a month! It's Samoa Joe getting kidnapped by ninjas all over again!

I like how Bully Ray has manipulated the system. He lost to Abyss at Genesis, but has basically gotten a title shot purely due to force of will, inserting himself into the main event scene purely by beating down top contenders.

Also I wonder if Roode's disingenuous promise of a title shot for him played into Ray's favor, with the honorable and vindictive Sting in part punishing Roode for his heel transgressions by making him live up to his word, to Ray's benefit!
