First off, Delseban, thanks for being tactful about the issue. I definitely appreciate your input a lot more than the whiny Reddit dude's. That having been said though, I still have to really disagree.

For starters, this is a video game site; and I don't think it's asking too much to have 2 months out of the year used for a contest about video games. While a decent chunk of the normal polls are about gaming too, the contests allow a wide variety of games and characters to receive the spotlight. A big part of this site's appeal is finding new games to play, and I know a lot of people have found new favorite games thanks to the contests. (Lord knows a lot of people discovered Chrono Trigger because of them.)

Moreover, it's something that a lot of people still enjoy a lot, the contests are easy to avoid, and the regular polls still take over for most of the year. So, why the hate? I mean, if Bacon ran a poll called "Should we still do daily polls?," I wouldn't vote for the "f*** that s***" option. I couldn't care less about 95% of those polls, but I'd still vote to keep them going because... hey, why not?

I think having contest polls and regular polls at the same time is a great idea. It's too bad Bacon doesn't have another AMA coming up. :P

If people feel like it's predictable and not worth their time, okay. I definitely disagree - the journey IS the destination! - but they have the right to their opinion.

But getting up in arms about the CB polls taking up a tiny portion of the site? That's the quintessential first world problem. After thinking about it a little more, I'd bet that a decent chunk of them are butthurt Link haters - which is still a silly rationale for the negativity, but hey, it's better than "WAAAH I WANNA VOTE FOR MY FAVORITE DAY OF THE WEEK".

I was looking at that thread about Bacon's AMA, and I saw something that I felt deserved its own thread. Somebody decided to drop this on him:

Can you please for the love of God, stop with the never ending character battles? Or at least put them on a separate part of the site. There is nothing worse than seeing them take over the PotD for months on end. They are awful and boring.

And if the post-contest polls are any indication, there are actually a lot of other people who feel this way.

My question is this: WHY? I get that not everyone is going to dig the contests as much as we do. And I definitely understand that some people won't find brackets fun to make. But why would they actively hate the contests? If they're not interested in them, then the contests should do absolutely nothing to bother them. All they do is replace the "Got (system)?" and "Do you brush your teeth every morning?" polls - who gives a damn about that?

Normally, I wouldn't care about these party poopers, but Bacon's made it increasingly clear that it's not always easy getting prizes for the contests. Over the past few years, CBS Interactive has been eager to support the GameSpot contests, but ours... not so much. And if people keep posting stuff like the comment above, and voting for the "KILL IT WITH FIRE" option in every post-contest poll, then it's just going to get harder and harder for our CBs to be greenlighted.

So, to all of you who vote for each contest to be the "last one ever," and rant about how much our contests suck... seriously, chill out and step down. Nobody likes a buzzkill.

First, a little context. ABC has a new show called The Glass House, which is basically to Big Brother what Hardcore Pawn is to Pawn Stars. CBS took it personal, to say the least. First, they straight-up sued ABC for stealing the Big Brother concept... but that wasn't enough to halt the Glass House premiere. So, CBS did this.

Most of the Pokemon remaining are really quite good, so it was Emolga's time to go; I like it, but it can't hang with most of the remaining Pokes. Mareep should definitely be in this still, though - for my money, it's easily the best of the line.

Through the Looking Glass continued its rampage through the bracket yesterday, doubling The Suitcase and handily winning every board except Cable & Satellite. Out of Gas wasn't quite as much of a juggernaut, but it still handily beat 1-seeded Blink to win the division. Not a bad run at all for Mal Reynolds and co.!

-The Suitcase managed to easily crack 30%, win a board, and almost avoid the doubling. I guess that's the best we could have hoped for, really - TTLG is a monster.

-I expected Out of Gas to win. I didn't expect it to win by a whopping seven votes. Board 8 really gave it a boost here.

Unfortunately, I don't have a system to play it on! I didn't have any luck getting my 360 fixed - I guess it's too far gone at this point. And I'm sure as hell not paying $200 for a 7-year-old system. >_>

Suda 51 is definitely one of the better directors in gaming at the moment, though, so I could see it being quite fun. Plus, Destructoid gave it a 9/10, and they're probably the best game review site.

I don't know about this paper mario dilemma but TTYD was boring as hell other than Rawk Hawk so I agree with whatever negative review they gave

Rawk Hawk was great too! But then there was all that lame stuff, like the little grey blobs, and Doopliss. It was a mixed bag of a game, though its soundtrack really was terrific.
