There should really be a middle ground, IMO. I'm not against the idea of a hike, but 75% is way too damn much. On the one hand, one of the student movements protesting the hike is hell-bent on not settling for anything less than a tuition freeze; on the other, the government is trying its damn best to act ******, provoke anger - and then blame the violence it itself encouraged on the students. Can't they settle on a moderate hike or something? From: Robazoid | #009 FYI, nobody in Quebec's saying Alberta's useless. People might accuse you of the other stuff, but not of being useless. Granted, some of them are stupid about it and criticize everything you do while not realizing that a lot of what we're subsidizing comes from transfer payments. Personnally, I don't like the Albertan model. I think the Canadian tuition average is way too damn high. Education is one of the most important (if not the most important) tool to make sure everyone at least starts on an equal footing. If you compare with tuition rates in the US, for instance, it's obvious that only the rich or the incredibly smart can afford tuition at the top-rated schools. Is that the model we should be striving for? And besides, I'm not too keen on oil sands, which are incredibly polluting and feel like 'dirty money' to me. On the other hand, it's incredibly stupid and hypocritical to ***** about it like I do and not recognize that you're funding a lot of what we have through that alleged 'dirty money'. Which is why I'd really wish the government would stop acting stupidly for a change. We have a big deficit: just raise the damn electric bills already! That way, you save money, and the 'drawback' is that people consume less, thus (a) allowing us to sell our reserves to the rest of Canada/the US for a profit, meaning more money and (b) help the environment along. First, we have to take care of our debt and stop the endemic corruption. Well, there we go! I'm far from done with the chiptune version aka Jungle Stream (as I said, very lacklustre so far, and I'm not good with chiptunes!). As far as the original piano version is concerned, I think I'm good for now, though I wanted to know if I should make the whole piece a bit longer (by composing more stuff, basically). Since this would be an area music, it could get quite repetitive as is. Thoughts? Suggestions?
That being said, please forgive the few mistakes with the piano version - I'm still not quite familiar with the synth I used to record it. Been working a bit more on Anvil, and I think I can tweak September Stream out as a chiptune version. It's much different from the original version (original gave a "quiet, rainy river" feeling, this one's more jungle-like), but I think it works.

So, I've been working a bit at my piano today, and I think I've come up with something passable. Only problem is: I just can't get it to work properly on Anvil (it just seems mechanized and loses all the little nuances that actually make the piece interesting), and I'm not sure it'll work well on chiptune. On the other hand, I thought First Flight wouldn't work as a chiptune as well, and Liquid actually ****ing improved it and made it catchy as hell (and I usually hate chiptunes. I have no idea how he did it).
Should I try to record it via GarageBand, upload it, send Liquid/someone the sheet music/notes/lacklustre MIDI and we'll see where it leads? Provisional title is "September Stream." -- When you have nothing to say, quote yourself ~ Solfadore |

Wow, I'm surprised by the Sansa win! Even though I voted for Cersei, I'm fine with Sansa making it to the division finals. That said...
(4)Varys - Again, I don't find Jon to be especially compelling, perhaps a *bit* too clichéd, and since he'll probably win this, I'm going to give my vote to good old' Varys. (3)Theon Greyjoy - Absolutely no doubt in my mind. Theon is one of the best characters of the whole series, with incredible development and complexity, while Syrio's a one-scene wonder. Unsure about Jon/Varys, but I think Jon takes it. The winner will fall before Theon, though, who will make short work of Syrio.
