You have to get together with this girl, for me. She's a Star Wars fan, and she's cute. I'll never get a chance to hook up with a girl who is both a Star Wars fan and cute, because I already have a girlfriend that I will be with for life, and she hadn't even seen the Original Trilogy before she met me.

Makes me sad.

At least she likes Star Wars, she's just not a fan. Star Wars is my life though.

......How about I at least learn her name before I start thinking of hooking up with her >.>;

Although I feel your pain. I'm a huge music fan. I dated a girl who never listened to music. At all. Her ipod was collecting dust.

She's a semi-regular customer at my work. She came through my line near when I started cashiering, I commented on her shirt, and we got into a big nerdy discussion, and she keeps coming back.

Today, she waited in my line even though it was the longest and even passed up a chance to leave it, and while I rang her up we talked about books and author signings, and I told her about how Terry Pratchett is going to do a reading and signing. Apparently now we're both going to be going there >.>;

I didn't have any big problems with the choices here - A couple odd ones, but not terrible.

I would have liked to see the fire dancer kid go through, but not a huge loss, and I'm happy with it.

What I'm NOT happy with is that there are a lot of acts MISSING. Some of which I've been looking forward too - Mrs. Smith, the Piano guy with the vambraces, and the dancer with three heads for instance.

Now...that I'm not sure about. There are objective bases for qualifying a game, and more than one person will tell you they recognize a game as objectively bad that they really like.

Yes and no. There are objective bases for quality portions of a game; where the opinion comes in is what matters more?

Characters or plot?
Graphics or design?
Controls or mechanics?

While you can obviously say one game controls more fluidly than another(in some instances at least), it's entirely opinion how much that matters.

You can disagree with an opinion, and it can be your opinion that someone else's opinion is wrong. If that's what the title means then yeah, agree. But someone's opinion can't be wrong on its own, because that's just the way they feel about something.

That's fine when you're going through everyday opinions. But when you get into broader, often more biased opinions, it gets a lot less clear, and it becomes very obvious that opinions can be wrong.

It also comes into play when comparing things. Take musical talent, for instance - an obviously very, very highly opinionated subject, with many factors going into it. You could say Elton John is more talented than Freddie Mercury, and it would be controversial but not wrong. You could even say Britney Spears or Justin Timberlake are more talented, and it would be controversial, and quite possibly stupid, but not wrong.

But when you start taking it further, it becomes blatantly wrong - you won't usually encounter these instances, but they DO exist.

No, they almost always are based on facts, if not always - They are your response to facts. What you like or don't like about something is your view on factual portions of it, forming an opinion.

And last but not least: Dani should not have gotten a second audition. She made her choice, but more importantly, she only got there BECAUSE SHE PLAYER HER OWN MATERIAL. It was a parody, but she wrote it. If they accepted her for that, they should have denied her for her act.

she totally deserved that second audition because the judges didn't make it clear up front that they were incapable of processing things they haven't heard before. Like, she screwed up, and they could have cut her based on that, but for whatever reason their complaint was just "hey, do a song we know because we're dumb".

That's been pretty clear throughout the show. She knew she was taking a massive risk, they knew she was, everyone knew she was. On top of that, her ORIGINAL audition was original writing, and that writing was a big part of WHY she got accepted.

I'm not saying she's a bad performer - I loved all her performances, but she did not deserve that second chance. You could make an argument over whether or not she deserved to go on from that first Vegas audition, I suppose.

Now that we're getting close to the quarter-finals, and there are some decisions obviously worthy of comment!

From the accepted:

First and most obvious: WHY WOULD YOU SEND ECHO THROUGH?

The animal acts are horrible. Because animal acts like that ARE horrible for Vegas shows. They are too unpredictable to be the center of ANY act, and ECHO SHOWED WHY. You have an audition that stops early because the bird refuses to respond and you PUT IT THROUGH? I understand that the other animal acts were even worse, but that just means send NONE of them.

Frank Miles should have been passed. His knife-dive was lame - It managed to take massive danger and make it unconditionally boring, whil losing anything interesting he had from his original act(which is probably good because he couldn't compare to peachock)

I love Kinetic King, but he has no place here. He's a minor act - You CANNOT turn that into a million dollar show as cool as it is - It would have to be part of another act, and does not stand up on its own.

And I agree with Piers on Funny Little People. Ditch them, please.

Mona Lisa - Legitimate talent, but flat out dull. Step it up or get out.

I really can't decide on the Summerwind Skippers.

And last but not least: Dani should not have gotten a second audition. She made her choice, but more importantly, she only got there BECAUSE SHE PLAYER HER OWN MATERIAL. It was a parody, but she wrote it. If they accepted her for that, they should have denied her for her act.

Rejected:

Michael Turco not going through was a travesty, especially with so many spots being wasted on joke acts. He had one technical flaw but amazing presentation.

Maybe it's just me, but BGP was incredible, and should have gone through. I loved their original audition, and they should have been passed through, easily.

LD Dance Company was pure Vegas and showed such dedication to their craft - Again, wasted spots screwed them.

Also - Fearless Flores Family, Captain and Maybelle, and Professor Splash had NO PLACE being put through instantly. This goes without saying.

People are against seatbelt and helmet laws because it is entirely beyond the right of a government to make such laws. If you have a government of free people, the only legitimate laws are those that govern your dealings with others. Rules that you have to follow even if you don't interact with another human in any way are suitable only for slaves. Seatbelt and Helmet laws do not create an enslaved people, but any government willing to enact such laws is willing to enact any other law they find convenient.

The intent doesn't matter. The fact is it IS the government overreaching. I'm not saying they're bad laws, but he does have a valid point that you can't ignore - The government stepping in and telling you how to be when it doesn't involve others sets a bad precedent.

If you're riding a motorcycle, safety isn't your first priority to begin with. Not surprised only half of them wear helmets.

Motorcycles are plenty safe if you aren't stupid. Crashes are more dangerous, but you generally won't have a serious crash if you're smart.

A very very valid point. The same logic that applies to gay marriage.
