The game has not aged well, end of story. Bad mechanics both in and out of battle, clunky controls, bad story and characters.

FFVII is still a blast to play.

Yep. Chrono Trigger is fairly simplistic, and that works in its favor more than anything. Characters are fun, story is light, world is vibrant, battles move at a nice clip - it's everything good about a 2D RPG. FFVII is more my style of game, and I think it hits all the right notes in a different way from CT, but they're both good representations of the genre at different points.

I'm in that mood again, looking to play some old games, though not quite as old as last time.

This time, having messed around with the Doom-gen games, I'm looking to skip a gen and go for some of the Quake-era games.

On the block:

Hexen series(and maybe Heretic 2)
Quake
Quake 2
Unreal(currently playing)
Half-Life
SiN
Jurassic Park: Trespasser(I am going to HATE myself, but I might do some videos for you guys if I can set it up)
Wheel of Time if I can find it
Terminator: Future Shock and Skynet(again, if I can find them)

Suggestions are welcome!

I'm currently a decent ways into the original Unreal, just got the Bio Rifle and out of the bio facility. The game is pretty impressive for what it was - Beat Half-Life to the punch and did a lot of what Half-Life did but not as well; the game features objectives, minimal AI, and a decent amount of story and atmosphere, but all as background to the gameplay.

Nah, this one is so legitimately bad.

The whole gimmick is that you control your arm independantly for everything, but the controls for it are so awful it makes the game nigh impossible.

Nevermind that you can only carry one gun at a time, can't see what you're aiming at, and can't reload the gun(when it's empty you toss it).

Even worse, despite an hour of trying, I was never able to shoot myself.

FFF basically just did the same thing they did before, though. Really, I feel the same way I do about the Russian Bar - Adding spikes and fire is all well and nice, but it's like the difference between diving in front of a Semi and diving in front of a train - The results may be more gruesome, but dead is dead. Difference is, there's not really much further FFF can go with it - How much can someone be entertained watching motorcycles ridden around in a circle. At least with the Trio, they showed some showmanship, and the ability to do it more, although I don't see them going to the end either.

I agree for the most part. Drop Fearless Floress Family to 8, bump Chris Newburg up a couple slots, and drop Echo to the bottom(While the other acts weren't great, they weren't terrible, and Echo managed to fumble again while still doing heavily repeated material).

And why would you think Dezmond isn't going through? He was phenomonal, and got just about everything right - He deserves a number one slot, it's just that Anna is flat out better.

By the way, if anyone remembers the Pianist ELEW that got put through but didn't appear in Vegas(the one with the vambraces), the reason apparently is that he got picked up to go on tour with Josh Groban and was unable to do the show.
