I'm so indebted to Street Fighter IV. It brought me back into fighting games and is probably the one game that's had the biggest impact on my gaming life this generation. On a grander scale, it's a hugely influential game that, like everything else, gets sadly overshadowed by CoD.

I actually prefer disposable. My traditional razor has never been as sharp. Disposable is just samurai sharp every time; it's safer and more comfortable imo.

My sister's class did their senior trip at Disneyland. She said kids from the ghetto schools in LA always cut in line; they even saw one of them pull a knife on another kid to cut ahead. It sounded like a pretty bad night, unfortunately.

Yep, that's the selling point. If you're a fan of atmosphere (or Disney in general), the Disney parks are just a tier above anything else. I enjoy slower, more atmospheric rides much more than rollercoasters, and I like Disney characters/locales, so Disneyland is easily the best park I've ever been to. I don't think there's a rollercoaster on the planet that can top Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Tours, Haunted Mansion, and Indiana Jones for me.

The problem is that Disney knows it (the Disneys in Florida and Cali are easily the two most visited theme parks in the world) and price admission out the wazoo.

Yeah, as a former SoCal resident, I know a few people with connections who go all the time. My aunt works for Disney so we used to go for free often when I was a kid. Despite not having gone back in years, I got to visit a lot during childhood though, so I can't complain.

A couple friends who went recently told me that the place seemed a lot smaller and lamer when experiencing it as an adult, so I guess I took advantage of the most important Disney-visiting time frame.

Good lord, that's dire. I love theme parks to death, but I could never justify that.

Depending on how many days you go, Universal Studios is either much better or a hell of a lot worse. If you go 4 days, it's about $40 per day - certainly not bad by any means, especially since you get access to both Universal parks. If you go for 3, it's about $51. But if you only want 1 day? $123.

Huh, that's an interesting way of structuring it. As far as big-name theme parks and attractions go, I was pretty sure Disney was/is the worst by a long stretch. My parents went to Universal Studios Hollywood a while back and they were offered annual passes for the price of one day's admission at the door. The San Diego Zoo also offers a 2-person annual pass for like $150, which is an absolutely incredible deal for local residents, as it comes with four additional free passes.

Seems that way. I had been wanting to go for a while since I haven't been there in like 15 years (my last visit predated Fast Pass), but at that price, it's not flippin likely.

The name was a mistake. That's twice in a row that Nintendo has bungled system names. I understand that they wanted to take advantage of the huge DS/Wii brand name power, but they should have made it more clear that 3DS and Wii U were entirely new machines.

I still live with my parents. They'll never drop Dish because it's the only cable or satellite provider that gives me their Arabic stations. I suppose I shouldn't b**** though; if I were living alone I wouldn't be paying for TV at all.

As for the standoff, I believe AMC is supposed to get the boot on July 1. The season premiere of Breaking Bad airs like a week later. I doubt they'll negotiate a deal by then.

Vis payoff, it's pretty much up there. Find me a worse one when it comes down to return for your investment into the story.
That's what I mean. Mass Effect is one of the few major game series to actually end its main story, and it ****ed it up something awful. MGS could have "topped" it had Kojima ruined MGS4's ending, but from what I understand, fans were very happy with that one.

McDonald's still has a dollar menu, doesn't it? Any please with a dollar menu is less expensive than a more "premium" fast food joint like In-N-Out. Depending on your appetite, you can stuff yourself at McD's for like three bucks.

I eat there maybe once a year. It doesn't taste bad or anything, but any McDonald's food I swallow seems to lodge itself into my chest and stay there. I'm a billy goat so it's rare to find food that I can't conquer, but McDonald's is it. I wonder what they put in those breakfast meals.

Finished. I agree that Nintendo was the big loser with the most disappointing conference, but for different reasons than what you guys mainly touched on. I didn't really care that Zelda and Metroid and Smash were absent - we all know those games will eventually find a home on Wii U, so I wasn't sweating it. For me, Nintendo's conference was all about two words: online and multiplats, and they dropped the ball on both. If this is a console at least as powerful as PS3/360 and one that (according to rumors) is internally similar to the 360, then where are the multiplats that should be ported Day 1? Tomb Raider, Far Cry, CoD, Watch Dogs - nothing. The only big-name multiplatform title that isn't MONTHS late is Assassin's Creed 3. It's just not enough.

As for online, they spent more time talking about stuff I zoned out of rather than what gamers actually care about - functionality of online play and an achievement system. We still don't know how cumbersome it will be to play/connect with other gamers on Wii U, and we still don't know specifics about an achievement system.

The devaluation of black men's lives is absolutely repulsive. New Tomb Raider looks amazing. The people shouting "torture porn" are just trying to discredit it because they feel wrongly ashamed to be associated with it as gamers, which is BS. That dev team is doing something new and ballsy, and the product is probably the one game I'm most hyped for right now.

It's entertainment. You're not going to get a realistic view of anyone. No feminist would ever criticize a character like The Boss, but she's about as "realistic" a female character as Bayonetta.

Celes is good. Terra, less so.
Terra wasn't as much of a natural leader, but she still dealt with and overcame her own internal struggles. I'm just sayin - games (especially blockbuster games like the ones that produced Celes/Terra, The Boss, FemShep, and Samus) are probably most similar to blockbuster movies if we're going to compare mediums - so try to find female characters in those blockbuster movies with all the heroic, empowering characteristics of a Celes or Boss. It's hard to do. Video games aren't as insulting to female characters as most people immediately presume.

I was really, really impressed with Terra and Celes when I played FFVI last year, and that game is nearing two decades old. Of course there are lots of oversexualized, crudely stereotyped female characters in games - what do you expect from a medium where the target demo has always been young men? Game devs still vary it up quite often and introduce smart, courageous, complex female characters that shape the events of their world more than their TV and film counterparts. Take a look at awesome characters like The Boss, Celes, and Femshep, and now try to find female characters in blockbuster films on that level. It ain't easy.
