You mean by the Sonic "fanbase" that could literally have a perfect game handed to them for free and would still call it s*** on a stick just so they can feel entitled to complain. Disliking Unleashed is one thing, but if you're talking about the Generations demo, anybody complaining about that being "running fast and nothing else" either haven't played it or would hate anything, regardless.

My point wasn't whether the humor sucks or not, it's that BECAUSE it's a series staple, you should know what it's like by now, and thus if you hate it that much, just... Don't play it. If you hate Mario, you don't suddenly pick up the next game in the series and then go "WHAT THE F*** IS THIS WHY DO I HAVE TO JUMP." Bashing DNF for the rest of its archaic qualities is fine enough, but expecting something different from what has been a series staple is just idiotic.

To be fair, it's a very wide-arcing rule.

Discussion of mod chips, custom firmware, copying games, playing copied games, cracking games, No-CD patches, piracy releases, homebrew, copyrighted ROMs, copyrighted ISOs, and basically anything related to game, movie, TV, or music piracy is not permitted.

Emulators ARE related to piracy, even if they can be used legally. Thus, while it's probably up to each moderator on whether they personally feel like actually doing anything, it technically CAN be said to be against the ToS with little argument, so it's really safer just to avoid it all together.

...Really? I mean, the mod system does suck, here, but there have been much more unfair moderations. Posting something against the ToS and then having a mod automatically delete it isn't really "overzealous." It's robotic, if anything, like somebody said.

I dunno. I suppose I was expecting something...more from a review that I was under the perception would counteract everything else said against the game. Particularly that I heard while the level design is creative at first, it becomes metallic hallway haven in the second half, how the difficulty likes to take random spikes, how the shooting mechanic is wonky, the guns are lacking, or how the humor is rudimentary and juvenile.


...It's a Duke Nukem game. Counting that against it is like counting against Sonic for running fast or a Mario game for having to jump.

I actually quite enjoyed it and thought it was very well played out. It tosses what you THINK you know out the window, only to make you realize what you truly knew all along.

Cole starts out seeming like basically the perfect man. He's a war hero, is genuinely interested in justice, and is an all around great guy. As the game goes on, however, you realize... That's not Cole at all. Cole is actually a weak man who doesn't want to accept his flaws. He can't stand on his own, which is why he does everything by the book, and to a fault. Instead of accepting his weakness and flaws, he runs from them, instead trying to hide them via his actions in the police force, which is basically his "redemption." It's why he's such a try hard. He WANTS to solve the big cases. He WANTS to truly be the hero that he KNOWS he isn't. In the end, however, he's simply not strong enough. He gives in to temptations, and he acts out on them by stepping out of this "perfect" life he has made for himself... By cheating. It brings him back to reality, and reminds him that he is, in fact, a very flawed human being, and he can never truly allow himself to forget all of his mistakes. His act of adultery is his way of "grounding" himself, or as the chick puts it, "Bringing him back to reality instead of the ivory tower he crafted for himself." He created this perfect, redeeming life... And yet he can't accept it because he can't let go of the past.

Jack, on the other hand, is a very strong individual. In the beginning, however, this makes him... Well, he looks like a dick. He's loud, brash, arrogant... Seems to not want to accept authority or do stuff by the book. He's the foil to Cole. The game progresses, however, and you realize... Jack is what Cole truly wants to be. Jack stood by what he knew was right, no matter what it did to him. If it was against authority? He was okay with that. Where Cole was weak and didn't question orders, Jack despised them if he knew they weren't right. Where Cole failed and fell into temptations, Jack stayed strong and remained true to who he was. He didn't pursue justice because he felt he had to in order to redeem himself... But because he knew it was right. It's why he didn't give in and take part in the initial theft of the morphine. It's why he helped Cole in the end.

It basically reverses how you perceive them. Jack seems unlikable, Cole seems like a great guy. But by the end, you realize it's the reverse. Cole was weak, Jack was strong. Jack was what Cole truly wanted to be like, but knew he couldn't.

And so on.

And to clarify, I'm not saying the feud is JUST about the title.

But I am saying that the title is the means to the end for Punk, and because of that, it's more important than it has been in awhile just because of the sheer scope of what it represents.

But if this was JUST about anarchy and screwing over the WWE, he could do that in a lot more ways than just... Beating Cena again. He already beat him.

He knows what the title represents to the fans/WWE in kayfabe, and he wants to steal that from them and make sure that, through their own faulty logic, they have to accept HIM as the best for as long as he desires.

He was frustrated that he wasn't considered for promotional stuff like posters and cups and Cena was even though he's (in his eyes, although he's right) the best wrestler in the world and Cena isn't. Vince even outright said last night that Punk isn't worthy of being on promotional stuff.

Punk wants to beat Cena to prove that he's better than him, not necessarily to take his title. He obviously doesn't think having the belt makes you the best because he doesn't have it, Cena does. Having the title on the line is only really there to add to the drama since there is really nothing else of value that Punk can take with him. What else would he do? Show up in ROH and just say "I beat John Cena so I'm the best!" Every heel does that.


No, but the "WWE Universe" does, and that's his argument. He's saying that people "think" Cena's the best because he's champion. So while HE may not necessarily believe it, he knows "everybody" else does, and thus he's gonna spit in their face by winning the title, which is the sign of being the "best," and then leaving with it so nobody can ever say "Well, I'm champion now so I'm better."

EDIT: I mean, hell... Doesn't he, in his mind, already think he beat Cena? Wasn't he bragging about that? Why wouldn't he just stop then if it wasn't about the title/what it represents to WWE fans?

Yeah, this. He outright states that he doesn't hate Cena, just that Cena is seen as "the best." He wants to show that HE is the best in the world, and will do that by becoming WWE champion. He's said that much. He's just then taking it a step beyond that and basically going "But you can't reap the benefits of having the best as your champion, because I'm leaving as said champion."

I disagree, simply because of his word choice when he first said it.

He didn't say "I'm leaving WWE and taking the title with me."

He said "I'm leaving WWE as the WWE Champion."

That makes it seem that his approach is more "I'm the best, I'm gonna prove it, and then I'll leave as the best" over "I just wanna screw them over."
