So Impact was pretty decent tonight. Low on BS (no EY/ODB and Garrett was only in a clip IIRC) and pretty solid matches throughout. First time in a long time that all of their big draws that I can think of (Anderson, Hardy, RVD, Angle, Roode, AJ Styles, Bully Ray, Austin Aries) got TV time, with all of them but the last two getting matches. All the feuds were built a bit too. It was probably their best show since their England stuff.

I haven't seen this week's show yet, but I read the spoilers for the AJ Styles "big secret."

...WHAT?

That probably contributes to why SM64 is my answer: it was pretty much the only game I played between the N64 launch in September and when I got a PS1 that Christmas.

(Also I can still remember just being in sheer awe of the whole 3D free-roaming thing every time I enter Bob-Omb Battlefield to this day.)

I have seen absolutely 0 WWE Films, but "That's What I Am" is generally the most highly regarded (and also to this point the one that features its WWE star the least).

EDIT: And also, WWE Films actually lost MORE money last year (like negative $3 Million), so in that sense the Films department is actually up. They brought in more revenue last year though, but also had more expensive films (they were still paying for 12 Rounds).

Also of note:

While PPV buys are down, the money they brought in was the same as last year due to more people purchasing in high definition.

The biggest loser was WWE Films. While other divisions are down from the year prior, WWE Films is the only one that actually LOST the company money (negative $1 Million).

WWE's 1st Quarter financials have been released:

PPV buys down (this quarter did not include WM)
Live Event ticket sales up
WWE Films revenues down
Merchandise sales up
Magazine sales down
Home Video sales up

Overall, WWE earned $123.1 Million in the 3 months, as opposed to $119.9 Million over the same three months last year, which was much higher than analysts forecasted (they predicted this year's earnings would be lower than last year).

The WWE stock has rebounded accordingly.

If it really was Sarah Phillips doing the posting and stuff at covers then why use a picture of a classmate on her first article? She's already an attractive girl, so why not just use your own pics as she did later?

Given that we KNOW there is a real girl named Sarah Phillips involved in this, that Nilesh would (at the very least) have had access to pictures of the whole time, I honestly believe the "I wanted to cover my identity so that prospective future employers wouldn't link me to illegal gambling websites" story.

Because even if you presume that it was all Nilesh doing the writing in the beginning, it's not like he would have had to use fake pics of Sarah, since it's been documented that their friendship dates back long before this.

Then the enterprise got big enough that she probably thought that it wouldn't be an issue anymore, since ESPN is a lot more legit than Covers, and went with real pics/videos.

I still wonder what their endgame was for accumulating all of those scammed Twitter accounts and webpages under the "Sports Comedy Network."

Did they legitimately intend to build such a thing and then sell it to ESPN for millions later (and along the way steal content the way they did instead of cutting legitimate deals with content creators), or was it really just a front for small-time scamming just to rake in the minor amounts of dough that other people were already raking?

Because in the end, Cena should go over, and then the issue becomes "they totally misplaced where this match should have been on the calendar."

If there is only meant to be one Cena vs. Brock match, then I can definitely agree at least that it's really stupid to do it right out of the gate, regardless of who wins.

If there's no Lesnar/Cena rematch in the works, like ever, then it makes even more sense to put Cena over.

I would be shocked if there wasn't one eventually.

I kind of agree with Lance Storm in that there's no one right or wrong answer to that match in and of itself, and it all depends on what they do with it. The path they chose is certainly much easier to screw up, so given WWE's recent history of hot angles fizzling out that doesn't fill me to the brink with confidence.

http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/7882670/john-cena-brock-lesnar-why-winning-wwe-matter

The Masked Man defends the booking at Extreme Rules, and gives a history lesson on when entertainment overturned wins and losses as the top priority for a professional wrestler.

The idea that sticks with me most in the article is that by having Cena win, now we have bait for a rematch. Had Lesnar continued his dominance and won, then what would be the selling point for it?

It's kinda like Anderson Silva/Chael Sonnen. Silva won decisively, but only after getting dominated for 23 minutes. Now they're having one of the hotter rematches in MMA history, as both sides have something to prove.

Same thing here. You can definitely make the case now that Lesnar vs. Cena II (to blatantly not count their 2003 fights) has to happen, because both sides have something to prove.

In that sense, it's a slick piece of booking in order to potentially draw more money later.

EDIT: It's the Lesnar vs. Mir storyarc, basically.

I don't understand how that can logically be true.

I support the DH

My team is an AL team

In fact I would even go so far as to say that the 9 on the Field and the 9 in the lineup shouldn't necessarily correlate at all. I'd be completely fine with every team just putting out their absolute best defensive lineup and best offensive lineup independent of each other.

You know, like football.

Yep, there's a thread there about it (although no one has posted in it).

It was started by Megafighter3

Is that anyone here?

I'm a big Spoony fan, but not a forum member. I should go over there and see what their wrestling crew thinks.
