Seriously though I know Inviso rallies everyone but you're posting logs asking how to spin making her appear guilty and "I'd much rather have a real case of rallying"

I have scruples I can't support imping this on.

Well at least a weird boston crab still looks straining on the back

Rock just sorta stands there in a very slight squat holding their legs

To be fair to Owen though I think he the leg curling sloppily to make their two spins on the sharpshooter distinguishable, personally, not because he can't do it better.

Nah Owen's was much better

The big reason Rock's looks so bad is because he doesn't sit down. He sorta like, stands up with a slightly wider base with the other guy's legs curled in a 4. Gotta cinch it down deep. Owen sits down-- the leg pretzeling is probably on the same level as the Rock's which is another problem and why Bret/Sting did it better than Owen, but the big thing is sitting down.

Eh I think planning is important in wrestling and comes in a lot of forms. It's not all about making connections or cheating, either. Like the Bret Hart vs Diesel match I was talking about... it was very common for Diesel to "play with his food" when he felt he had the edge, so for Bret Hart to possum him into a small package was excellent planning on Bret's part. I mean, yeah, it doesn't prove Bret is the stronger wrestler or anything, but he used tactics to make up for that and that's why he wins.

Heels with managers or allies and using them as their plan rather than the opponent's weakness is a similar thing to me. And if it's further allowed by the rules of the match so there was no technical cheating going on? Clean win-- the face should've been able to account for that or just brute through all of it if he's really the better man. I mean, would you consider a guy abusing the hell out of the lumberjacks and repeatedly tossing a guy into his rival at ringside to win a lumberjack match a tainted win? It's the same thing in that you're using interference you planned for to further your goals and said interference is allowed by the rules.

Wrestling is a thinking man's sport Bobby The Brain Heenan told us this all the time.

The 5KS is showboating but it's showboating you can plan for by studying the tapes.

Like I said it's all about whether the wrestler can plan for something or if it just randomly falls on their lap.

Yet, during a key moment of the match, he stops, looks at the crowd. shrugs, and goes to the "You can't see me." He gets kicked in his head for his showboating.

1. Cena didn't have Punk beat
2. That's a standard issue Cena taunt moment that Punk could have planned for

Seriously I mean, you can disagree with me if you want but... really. I don't see why you can't, or choose not to, distinguish between "trademark midmatch taunting" and "taunting when you could make the pin right then and win the match which Cena has never done"

Planning and manipulating is a legitimate skill in pro wrestling, especially when you do it in such a way that you're not actually cheating.

And I would've called Rock's win tainted over Cena if he had him beat and did an uncharacteristic taunt at that moment instead of his usual.

And as I already said a brief signature taunt is not showboating, so even assuming Rock had ever pinned someone off laying the smackdown, that wouldn't be tainted because it's brief and something he always does. Something Cena could plan for.

To put it a different way, I wouldn't have called the win tainted if Rock kipped up during Cena's 5MOD after the "you can't see me" taunt and Rock Bottomed him for the pin.

So yeah I guess that's a more concise way of what I was trying to say before.

To me a win is tainted if one of the following occurs:

They break the rules of the match
They capitalize on a fluke event they did not plan for and orchestrate themselves

So that's why to me Austin beating Rock at X7 is more legitimate than Rock beating Cena last night. Not trying to convince you my way of thinking is "right" but now at least maybe you get what I'm getting at.

Yeah Cena mocks his opponents all the time but come match time he's mostly business.

Basically it comes down to for me as far as credibility goes:

"Could The Rock have planned for Cena to make that mistake?"

I say no. Some Rock fans might argue yes because Cena disrespected him so much but uh... I think those are tinted glasses to be honest. Cena mocks a ton of opponents but he never throws the match like that-- that's just an out of character thing to do. Now I'm not saying it's inconsistent because sure, the reason that makes sense is Rock put him on that much of a tilt-- but was that Rock's strategy all along or was it just Rock being Rock and he just lucked into rubbing Cena the wrong way that much. I'm inclined to say the latter, which taints the win imhhho.

(there's a difference between signature taunts during matches and not going for the pin)

Getting outside interference when they're directly related to you and influenced by you absolutely is an issue of wrestling talent I think. Or at least, wrestling talent in the sense that you're a credible threat to win at all times.

Like in WCW you could say Hollywood Hogan was booked very weakly and all of his wins were tainted, but I think his strength was actually very high. He was the mastermind of an organization of thugs and they had enough coordination to consistently interfere properly to secure him the victory. Him being the mastermind is the key there.

Austin in this case was one step above that, though, because unlike with Hogan you don't have the very real threat of the referee turning around and getting you DQed to sabotage your efforts to win. It's also technically "all by the book" which further helps legitimize it.

For instance, if Austin vs Rock involved Triple H running to the ring and pedigreeing Rock, and then Austin stunning Triple H before he pedigreed Austin, that would be a tainted win to the point where you can't count it, even as a no DQ match.

I consider Sheamus over Bryan to be tainted in the same sense, just for the record.

Like I'm not trying to downplay Rock's win that much, I'm just saying I think a heel winning a no DQ match (no DQ is important) through situations he orchestrated is as legitimate as a John Cena showing an uncharacteristic moment of weakness and Rock capitalizing on it-- especially when it's pretty much all Cena's botch and not anything The Rock himself was like, setting up for ala Bret Hart vs Diesel small package victory.

Also I totally agree with voltch's vote for Warrior here. That guy was dumb. You don't kick out of 5 macho elbow drops that's typically something that hospitalizes a guy. Seriously, in WCW he'd do that after matches and have a bunch of referees break it up out of concern for the wrestlers health

And yeah beating peak Hogan clean that's unheard of

Still though.

Outside interference is legal so I mean, it's still not much worse to me than Cena having Rock beat and then showboating and blowing it.

Austin won via stronger social links and Rock won because Cena's judgment was clouded. They're both kinda unrelated directly to the raw skill of the wrestler and similar in my eyes. It's not like Austin didn't plan for Vince to help or anything. Like, if a scheming heel uses his manager to help he retain in a no DQ match, is that tainted too? Or is he simply using his assets? It'd be different if Vince randomly showed up and just screwed with the match, or if Austin cheated, but neither happened. To me they're similar levels of taint.

The taint was that Rock didn't beat Cena, Cena beat himself.

It's not tainted in a rules sense but it's tainted in a "was Rock the better man" sense.

Like I consider Austin's win over the Rock at X7 as clean or cleaner than Rock's win over Cena last night simply because chairs were allowed by the rules so it's really no foul on Austin for using them. "Under normal circumstances" maybe Rock wins but you could say the same thing about Cena vs Rock last night since Cena basically tossed it.

Eh tainted losses still count when you have enough of them. Rocck's overall losing record at WM (I believe) kinda puts him out of the running with that.

Also if you're going to get down on tainted losses he's got a tainted win over Cena. Can't have it both ways.

I can totally give Kane credit for it, but they have to give some sort of indication it was intentional. I mean, it would work out really well if Kane or Cena mentioned the hate embracement or lack thereof.

Maybe Kane beat Orton last night to relaunch into a Cena feud where he actually makes Cena embrace the hate instead of just antagonizing Ryder all day.

Well I'm not saying it's not preferable to boot up quicker of course.

I just think boot up load time is the most insignificant part of the whole equation to bump up because you can just start booting, continue what you were doing before you start to get immersed in the game or totally distracted or whatever. Like I've had moments where I want to play a game and I have to download 45 minutes of updates to play it and it's not even a huge deal because I just continue what I was doing until it finishes (obviously I'm not saying 45 minutes would be an acceptable boot time, but you know what I mean).

It's not like in game loading or something where you're decisively "in the zone to play the game" and then you have to sit for a minute while an area loads up.

Basically I guess what I'm saying is if I'm going to have any sort of performance issue I'd want it to be there.

Yeah 2 minutes isn't a big deal because you just half occupy yourself with something else while it's booting or you spend that time getting hyped or whatever. Most systems, including your PC, take a while to boot anyway this isn't a new development. Even as far back as the NES you spend at least 2 minutes doing random startup tricks to try and get your game to work most of the time <_<

I think that you could be right when I use the two decimal place rule. When you use only one decimal place, I am pretty sure that the median, meant to use that term instead of average, score is 5.0

Um... no, you're wrong. The median of all possible scores is also 5.05-- median and average of a range of scores will be the same unless you have a specific sample to work with.

I'm not sure why you're against 0s being irrational when it's clear people don't fully think out their 10s either. Westbrick just gave 6 games a 10 in this topic. Do you think he thinks each and every one of those games is completely flawless, or that he just likes them a lot and so gave them a 10 without thinking much?

If you want to make scores more likely to be closer to the 5 average, you should make us rate from like... 0-8 instead of 0-10 because b8 is overly generous with points even without you boosting the minimum score.

For a myriad of reasons that people have brought up with me over time, and I agree on several accounts.

Actually, changing the maximum to 10.1 makes no sense. For 5.0 to be the absolute average, the scale has to be 0.1 - 10.0. Under the previous rating system, a 4.9 was the absolute average and under your suggested system, the absolute average would be 5.1

Is this some bad april fools joke or something.

Unless "absolute average" is some obscure math term that google and wikipedia do not recognize, the average of all possible scores on a 0.1-10.0 scale is 5.05 and the average of a 0-10 scale is 5.

Anyway 3.5 for this game.

(protip this is where you pass it off as one to save face and put the rating scale back to 0-10)

Question for those people who are down on the match result. Which result is better for you?

Cena wins over Rock and they do the torch passing moment. Beyond a victory celebration the show just goes on as it was before with Cena.
-OR-
Result is as is, but causes Cena to revamp his character in some way... heel turns because he's pissed Rock won or reinvents himself because he cost himself the match or whatever.

I'm just curious which you think is better booking. And if you think the former is-- do you think Cena is in need of character development.
