Few things give me more pleasure than purchasing music from an aspiring artist I enjoy.

I'm hardly a person of means right now and so having any spending money is a rarity, but it feels very good to make that kind of purchase. It really feels like you can be the difference between them continuing to pursue their dream or deciding that it isn't financially viable.



I don't feel quite as strongly towards movies, but I still want to support movies that I really love.

Chrono Cross has an even better sound track than CT imo. Not even remotely close and possibly my favorite video game sound track period.

If People Imprisoned by Destiny isn't a 1 seed though, imma be disappoint.

Island of the Earth Dragon - The other song, swamp, makes me feel more nostalgic, but that's almost all it has going for it. This song takes me back into that part of the game better.

Fortress of Ancient Dragons - Augh tough match. To be honest there is a part in the middle of Fortress where it gets a bit muddled. Right around when the organ kicks in I think. But the introductory sequence of this song is just amazing and fits Fort Dragonia perfectly. Meanwhile Magical Dreamers is a really exciting song pretty much the whole way through, though it becomes a bit of a cacophony at moments.

Dragon God - Didn't even need to pull these two up. Volcano is an "adequate" song, but Dragon God is an amazing song for a great fight.

Really? Now there's a scene I thought was hugely overrated - sure, it's funny, but it's not that great. I thought a lot of other moments were funnier.

I just really liked that scene because of Loki.

I thought it was pretty clear from Loki's chats with Thor that even he didn't entirely buy what he was spewing, but it was a case of roll with it or Thanos would kick his ass

Also one part thinking nothing of humans ("You think you're above them?" "Well, yes.")

That says it pretty well I think. Loki considers himself innately superior to everyone on the planet except Thor and that is what makes the scene for me. Seeing him finally cowed by the strength of a "human". Albeit a human of the green-rage-monster variety.

damn that sucks (regarding to 3D).

This is THE best I have ever scene 3D look. So many of the scenes were just SHOT with 3D in mind as though they were constantly planning 'okay we can put this in the foreground' or something to just give a real sense of visual depth. But not in a "lets over emphasize the fact that we're using 3D way" and in more of a natural "this is how 3D is supposed to look" way.



And yeah I'm taking off for church in a couple of minutes so just get back to this whenevers. I do think the fact that Captain had a really solid movie of his own would go a long way towards establishing his character for you.

and found myself wondering by the tail end of the climax how even Marvel came up with enough money to keep things going and going and going, both visually and creatively.

100% this. Part of me felt like it HAD to be coming down pretty soon if only because that's how every other movie ever seemed to work.

And there were some things seen in the trailer of the big fight, but they didn't really spoil anything or accurately convey just how big the fight was. Like we knew they'd be fighting the grunts, and we knew there would be ONE flying whale thing. But then they get through that and we hear "Send the rest" and the fight is ON all over again. So much delivery.

I understand that this movie was very explosion friendly and (at times) exposition light, but I think this is hugely offset by the fact that most of the main cast had their own movie leading into this one. We already know the characters and their motivations.

We already sat through 2 hours of them showing us "Okay this is who we are" and so it seems justifiable to have them, in The Avengers, show us "yes, this is who I am still" in brief rather than completely reintroducing themselves.

And considering that they ALSO had to bring in and flesh out two main characters who did not have their own movie lead ins I would say this aspect of the movie was one of the more well done. It didn't feel like anyone got shunned and it never felt like anyone particular had too much of the spotlight. I would say it felt like Stark had the most face time, but still only had a shade more than the rest. And then if changes were made to increase development (or in the case of 4 Avengers, re-development) of any one character it would have to be mirrored by more time for all the rest which doesn't seem practical.

But even as I say this I don't think it's necessary to watch all the lead-in movies for Avengers to be a great experience. Obviously it helps with the development, but the characters still had enough "this is who I am time" and the fact that you KNOW they've already had 2 hours establishing that then it shouldn't really be a bitter pill to swallow.

Speaking of civilians, it's a superhero cliche that I always find myself rolling my eyes at when a bunch of hapless civilians bumble about

I know we would all love to believe that we personally would respond perfectly to a crisis of some magnitude, but can you really imagine what would be going down in New York if that stuff really did happen?

I think video games have prepared most of us to get our **** together and at the very least not make matters worse for the people trying to handle it, and at the very best we'd be doing something proactive like trying to stem the panic of others and shepherd people out of the way.

Now are you referring only to the civilian civilians or also to the cop who wasn't going to take orders from Cap at first?

I would have changed it so that he tapped into the comm in that jet and had a Big Damn Speech

The council had already given the override code and called for the launch. Nick Fury might be a bad enough dude to directly defy the council but you can bet that he's the only one. I don't see anything short of incapacitating the jet as being effective at all in that situation. We got to see some nice speeches from him, especially after [spoilers] (you know the one), but they were geared towards getting the Avengers to come together and would not work as well on "random pilot guy" who was following superior orders.


Glad you enjoyed it the one time at least. Since you aren't typically a fan of the genre it still mean's something that it was a worthwhile trip for you. Did you see it in 3D or 2D?

One of my favorite things was how well the movie paid off in terms of action.



I mean look at Green Lantern (but seriously, don't >_<'' ). In GL the "big action sequence" was incredibly short, fairly obvious and almost ALL of the awesome stuff had been given away in previews. The movie was sort of cumbersome even leading up to the climax, but once it got there I was expecting something and it just didn't deliver.


Avengers on the other hand brought everything together nicely and then delivers a HUGE scene of ass kickery. My first time watching when the movie was about halfway in I was idly wondering if the movie would be able to keep up with the pace it had been building at so far. My concerns were completely unfounded ^_^

Did anyone else think that whole battle at the end felt like a really great Buffy season finale, but with the Marvel superheroes instead of the Sunnydale gang? And I mean that in the best possible way, I think Joss's ability to do that kind of story is one of the best things he brought to the movie.
